  1. ?? Michigan is still baitfish poor due to cleaner water and overstocking of Lake Trout. These outliers are probably the result of natural reproduction in one of their many clean running rivers. Something in their genetics is making them stay out in the lake longer.
  2. Reverse natural selection. The biggest and strongest should get the right to breed (I am 5’ 7” and have two kids that are short).
  3. Interesting since moving the weight forward on their smaller walleye board makes it pull harder.
  4. A picture of your board doctoring would be beneficial. Thanks.
  5. Jplugs, silver horde, tomic, custom stuff from thereelshot…
  6. Does anyone know what has happened to the salmon plug industry? Nobody has product.
  7. Caught this legal sized striper this morning off Jersey shore. 9.5 lbs that gave a nice fight BUT …….nothing like the equivalent sized king. For inquiring minds, caught it on a max scent power worm 🪱 off the beach at low tide.
  8. It has been an offshore bite but in this game you have to consider not only where they are but where they are going. Consistent staging locations will be starting so you should always check the mid-waters
  9. Unrelated but this group just came out into the public eye. Everyone is tired of the hard left and the hard right. https://fwdtogether.org
  10. To update the group on how things have progressed with the conversion, I continued to be plagued by poor performance at low RPM. If I dipped below 1,000 RPM while trolling or idling would cause the engine to stumble and shut off. The boat would start up and the cycle would repeat itself. My marine mechanic thought it sounded like a fuel starvation situation and thought replacing the original 1988 carb might do the trick. I thought the problem seemed more electrical but I agreed the carb had been overhauled three times so it was probably time for replacement. After the carb was replaced the engine definitely ran better with a noticeable cleaner burn with less exhaust smells. However, the lower RPM problem - engine shut off thing continued. After showing a video of the fluttering RPM gauge on my dash at idle, the mechanic did some research on the OMC points conversion and found that the timing needed to be advanced. After fixing the timing then adjusting the carb and shift position, the problem was solved. It was a pleasure to actually fish the way I like to fish on Saturday. Hopefully that is the end of the story, and hopefully someone finds this thread useful one day.
  11. Thanks Bill ! I knew you would be up this topic. Stay on this one!
  12. Storms look like they are breaking up as they hit the land.
  13. Vote them all out. Term limits should be an amendment in the constitution for all positions including Supreme Court https://www.congress.gov/congressional-report/105th-congress/house-report/2/1
  14. Right. You have a point there. If a business does illegal activities and does not collect taxes from customers and submit those taxes to the state then they would not be contributing to the fund as intended.
  15. Captain Obvious moment: Your competitors pay the same tax. It is all relative and goes to better the industry you are serving with your product.
  16. It’s a federal tax. It goes to Washington and they allocate the money to the states to make sure it goes to outdoor stuff. It is earmarked. As the money pools, it has to be used. This why you are seeing NYS buying large tracts of land recently. There have some great pieces that recently have been bought that are absolute gems for hunting. The DEC will be adding more in the near future. These purchases are listed on the DEC websites and have public announcements in newspapers. If you are paying attention, these tracts (previously private) are ripe with targets.
  17. Close your eyes and picture a world where we would have to lobby every year to have money budgeted for fish stocking, pheasant programs, DEC funding, lamprey spraying, creation of WMA’s or state game lands etc etc. It is game over if we allow non-hunting/fishing/conservation minded people to have control over the funding of these activities through the general fund. This is an anti-hunting/fishing bill.
  18. This only tells part of the story. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pittman–Robertson_Federal_Aid_in_Wildlife_Restoration_Act
  19. It would be good to hear from Bill Hilts on this one.
