  1. Had a great time fishing w/ friends & family on Cayuga today. Very polite, boat savvy anglers (with radios on 68) made for easy traffic situations. Our crew just shredded the lakers today up around Aurora but we couldn't push past the 10lb mark to get onto the board. Oh well, the smoker will be in overdrive tomorrow! Hot setup was a lemon ice super slim on the 400' copper over 120 FOW @ 1.9 surface, we just could not even get this rod out on the board for over an hour. Also hot was mag diver w/ white/geen protroll & proctologist out 210' over 120fow. Bloody death SS on the rigger down 130 over 250fow took a couple big ones too. Went 33/33 or so w/ only one good salmon as best as we can remember. Thanks to Barney/Bear & all those who organized this event & a big CONGRATS to the winners! -Andy We got over there on Sat afternoon too but it was slow for us, got one good salmon & a bunch of smaller lakers but we did get into some excellent ice cream on the way home!
  2. Some serious, quality fish you got there! Never mind the derby - Congrats on a truly awesome day! -Andy
  3. Email Tuna Tom & he will send you the parts you need. I've done this repair to many of my accudepth reels. Like Big Dave say's they were built cheap but the fix isn't too bad either. http://www.tunasreeltroubles.com/ -Andy
  4. Split, I came thru there early cuz I had to pick up some stuff in Locke- you must have been out on the lake. Anyway I left the paperwork on Barney's kitchen table. We won't be over Sat until afternoon but we'll see all you guys at some point. I'll be on 68 . -Andy (Blue & White Starcraft Islander 'Emily') P.S. Look out Lil Jake
  5. If the weather stays crumby, Elliot & I might have to come over & lighten your guy's wallets. Split - you gonna be at camp on Fri? I Probably won't register till the last minute and I'm guessing it will be around lunch time & I hope you have a stash of perch fillets kicking around -Andy
  6. What Stinger didn't say that the 1K lb weight was the STRIKE 3.He towed Cyn & I from Levanna back to Long Point. He has pics but was too nice to post them........Zeke & Cyn(Strike 3) Zeke, don't tell me that after all you went thru you got bad fuel in King Ferry? (I know it seems nuts but I'm a firm believer in running my kicker off the little tank and I never fill both tanks from the same place!) Glad you got in O.K. -Andy
  7. For longer cores I like the Church Walleye boards, for short cores & flat lines I like the OS boards. If you are gonna do much planer board fishing for browns you will eventually want to get a mast and some good pulling boards though cuz there are days when the browns really don't seem to like an inline board in front of a bait in 6' of water. Also, you will really like running longer cores & coppers off good pulling big boards compared to inlines. Just my 2 cents... -Andy
  8. Hey ditto that Scott. I was thinking I might run over & shoot out of L.P. in the little boat in the afternoon if conditions are tolerable. -Andy
  9. A couple weeks ago we were after browns in clear water (6-12') and couldn't get them to go on inlines w/ leads to 150', put out the big boards & the same baits quickly took hits. I've seen this b4 too.
  10. I mostly use inlines for core when fishing alone and I fix them (don't want it sliding down the core!) they are not difficult to un hook w/ a fish on by yourself - just keep the line tension even & you will be fine. -Andy
  11. Frank's is a geat outfit! One time I ordered a bunch of divers & they didn't have em all - so a guy calls me on the phone & tells me they shipped what they had (for free) and then tells me they'll ship the rest next day (for free)at the end of the week when they get restocked. Pretty unusual level of service and attention to detail!
  12. I'd look at some kind of track system, that way you can drill once and move stuff as much as you want. I've set up 2 boats with components from both of these outfits: http://www.teclausa.com/bert/ http://www.traxstech.com/
  13. Hank is busier than all get out! He no sooner gets one boat squared away & he's on the tractor moving another one in! He's got 2 extra guys there and they were all going full bore when we left. Zeke, I might be back on Cayuga Sat for another batch of Lakers for the smoker, maybe I'll see you out there. -Andy
  14. No better thing to do in the time we have have than to spend it with your children & when you can do that on the water it's even better! Sounds & looks like a good time was had by all - good going! -Andy
  15. Get & read this book and it will consolidate a lot of stuff for you - have fun! http://bluehorizonsportfishing.net/book ... 1f1a2fc5c4
  16. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Chowder & Sons / 'Emily' ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):4/27 Time on Water:7:30am-10:00am Weather/Temp:clouds/sun 70s Wind Speed/Direction:south 5-15 Waves: 1' or less Surface Temp: 47 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: lost track Total Boated:lost track Species Breakdown:Cohos,Brown,King Hot Lure: custom magic marker yozuri Trolling Speed: 2.6-2.8 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 6-10' Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Did a father & sons mission up to the Bay today & just clobbered the fish. We could not get more than 2 lines out for the first 45 minutes with a steady rip from the coho population. Stayed on them for a limit and then worked the browns for awhile. Just as we got ready to pull the lines we hooked into a smokin' hot young King that really gave Dad's 8lb test a work out. He hit, launched way out of the water and just took off for Canada with the drag singing. As the spool melted away I finally dared myself to crank down enough on the drag to turn him. What a great time my boys and I had together fishing today! Elliot cranking in a Coho Tristan w/ one of the cookie cutters The old man finally got one to the boat too!
  17. I smoke a lot of lakers & they really are a great fish to smoke b/c they are oily, like whitefish, but don't freeze em b4 you smoke them! Freezing high oil content fish denatures the oil & they come out kind of funky (and it's not a 'good' kind of funky either). -Andy
  18. You might want to check out some of the Port Bay reports in the 'Reports,Forum'. Port Bay is between Sodus & Fairhaven. I should be out there on Wens. too. -Andy
  19. Of all my stuff I usually set my diver rods 1st cuz they are a quick easy way to get a bait working, never had a problem deploying coppers or long cores w/ the dipsys out. Biggest thing that can get you is when changing out a copper line & you get a trip n' miss on a long, deep diver line -when that diver line heads for the surface and your copper is in the chute you want to keep track of things! -Andy
  20. I run Mag size divers set on 1.5 for my inside diver lines and mag slide divers on 3.5+ for outside diver lines and never have problems between them and my copper board lines. The mag divers have a very sharp angle down & the copper sinks slowly, so the two lines do not have a conflict. If you get a double on same side diver & copper you need to keep an eye on things but that's par for the course w/ doubles anyway. I use the Scotty 1177 planer style power grips for copper on the boards (if you buy the stacker packs & use your own rings, it's a better deal for you). Only attach the release to your backing -not the copper. On L.O. I much prefer to run the copper out on the big boards rather than inlines, when an inline goes under it makes things difficult-Andy
  21. Nice haul & that hooked jaw brown is sweet! -Andy
  22. Great post, pics & good job on the browns! Hope the action is like that tomorrow! -Andy
  23. Hey Rob, thanks for the advice over the years & have a happy Birthday!
  24. Dam! Very sorry to hear this Sean. As a small businessman I can really identify with you on how it feels to have some stuffed shirt stick it to you. Do not give up though - it's what they count on & it costs them very little. -Andy
  25. Sean, This is a sucky deal for sure but I think Vince has got it right. Some people will just give up when a rep feeds them a line but I can't believe you don't have recourse to some legal leverage that you can use to get this resolved to some extent. -Andy
