  1. Wow! How'd that strike? Expecting a nibble from a perch, that beast had to strip all the line off your reel! Sodus had some big perch this year too! Good times! Thanks for sharing!
  2. Friday was too windy and rough to troll in my 15', so we tucked into Helds Cove for some of the biggest buckets I've seen! Forgot to replace batteries in the scale... but the beer was cold and the spinners were hot! Chatruse/blue willows. My 20" bass And my buddies 20.5" slob. We can't wait for bass season to open! These guys were both out of the water several times and taking drag. Mixed in with a handful of perch and a fat bullie, it was the best rebound from missing a day in the derby. - Shane
  3. Thanks Yankee! If Sandy's dead like everyone's saying maybe I'll head further west weather permitting. I just bought a fatty SD45 Okuma thats itchin for lead. Maybe next year I'll have to step up.
  4. [ 1 boat got two of my setups off my 10 color and another got one off my 10 color. ] Can you explain? And whats the red can? How far west? Why do I have so many questions? Must be from not getting out yet, but I'll be out there Thursday and Friday! Good fun with the browns even if they were smaller. Good luck!
  5. I have a 14.5 Lowe thats underpowered with its Johnson 28. Anyone's opinion on the difference when upgrading they've noticed too would help. I think a 60 would be overkill (weight and power) but I could be wrong. The previous owner has worn off the Max rating on the tag. The boat is an aluminum deep V, with side console fish well, etc. so its pretty heavy as well.
  6. where's green harbor? were you out on boards or did you drop em down? I'll be out there Frday afternoon/Saturday hopefully!
  7. I did the same as Checkmate, went to russell. 1 for 4 in the 3 hours I was out in waiters casting spoons. Don't know if I have more confidence in em or what, but the 5 of diamonds (yellow spoon w/ 5 red diamonds) seems to be what browns like most. Bows I found green/silver cleo works best. Fish rising everywhere, but barely biting. Trolled Wednesday w/o luck, so went in to bay and played around with the perch. I posted the results.

  9. Went out of Irondequoit Wednesday, trolled the mouth for browns with no luck, then the wind forced us back to the bay and into Helds cove. To our surprise we caught 30-40 perch, and a dozen or so bass! All on small jigs, and we went to the bait store for bass minnows which worked even better! Perch are in pre-spawn mode, so look for them about 10 ft. from any reeds. The bass were at any ledge. We brought home a dozen 10"+ perch with the biggest @ 13.5! Tasty, and a great start to the warmer season.
  10. Just put all the gadgets back on the boat and headed out of Irondequoit or Genny in the morning (SAT). Thanks to your hilarious story I'll be up all night wondering if I have all my gear in order! I do have the rods, battery, drain plug, and a thirty pack in the fish well, so I should be good! Story reminds me of a few spring derbies ago, when Sandy wasn't producing, so we decide to pull out and head down to the Oak. My buddie and I tie down everything, put it on the trailer, and jump in the truck. A few feet up the ramp and everyone on the docks start screamin! I forgot to lock the winch and didn't put the chain on! My 15ft. Lowe was standing straight up off the back of the trailer! It busted the transducer mount and the speedometer, but motor and transom survived!
  11. I'll prob. see you out there. I'll reply my luck if I do go!
  12. Reside near Rochester, NY. Common territory ranges from Oak Orchard to Sodus Bay. Mainly summer fishing for bass, but also spring trolling for Browns, summer vacations to 1,000 islands, fall trolling for Kings, then in the winter fly fishing for Steelies and ice fishing for pike and perch. I've been on the water all 31 years of my life, growing up in the Braddock's Bay area. Currently I own a 15ft. Lowe, looking for riggers and a 50 hrse. or upgrade.
