  1. How many ugly mugs can you fit inside 7 minutes? Great job Chad! Happy Holidays everyone, and good luck with new gear under the tree!
  2. I rarely have more than 1 or 2 others with me, and we'd love to have a few more rods out. Especially in the spring when we have 2 riggers, 2 dipseys, and boards out. Being able to throw a few lines per board or even just to try more combos to zero them in would be great! I always thought a limit per boat made sense...
  3. Freak of nature! Thanks for posting the photos. There were a bunch of guys talking about it in the hockey locker room last night. First thing I said was, I wonder how long before Cabellas offers a few $k! There's a new Bass Pro in Toledo Ohio that has a 20 something point that was found along a railroad stuck in a fence as I recall, and that was really impressive to see. Whats sad, is that this kid will be a legend, and he'll never know...
  4. Nice pics bro! I love them bows!
  5. Same here. Nice catch bro. C&R is a practice, not a law. 98% of my fish are released, but damn do I love to eat a few of them. Let us know how you prepared those fall browns. Thanks for posting...on a post... called fishing reports... perhaps a new post needs to be created named releasing reports as to give a home for anyone who doesn't want to hear about any fish out of water
  6. Ha! I'm nowhere near expert trust me, but I've put some time in.... I could show you a few key spots. I didn't make it on the water until just before dark and was disappointed in our catch. We only mustered a few silver bass :x We marked a ton hanging outside of Helds, and at the markers, just didn't present what they wanted I guess. I heard they've had luck on minnows, but I didn't have the time to stop by the bait store. Oh well, maybe we'll do better when it freezes over! I might take a day or 2 off later in the month if the weather wants to stabilize again soon. Nitro, I'll try to post a day or 2 early to see if your up for a few hours on the bay. Did you make it out this past weekend? Anyone else heard any reports?
  7. Tom, Friday night we tried without luck as well. Stopped at the markers for some perch after dark and only caught a handfull of silver bass, but they smelled better then the skunk I thought we were going to bring home.
  8. Im going out there in a few hours, and have an ope seat if anyone's interested. Prob. Bass and pike trolling/casting until dark, then perch fishing at the markers until 9:30 or so. I haven't heard any reports from I-Bay, so hopefully i'll find them and be able to report tomorrow. P.S. - We're bringing a water balloon launcher just in case we get any goons!
  9. A good friend of mine sent me this photo this summer, from the Kenai river fishing for salmon. He said this guy ended his day for him, as he wouldn't leave him alone. We're lucky the biggest predators in our water are what we're aiming for! Closest I had to a scenerio like these is up in the 1k islands having a 13" perch a foot from the boat, and having a 29" Pike take off with it, although i got him in the boat too finally, so it was a pleasant bite!
  10. They should put up a DEC/law enforcement station right in that parking lot. Better yet, zone off that portion with a line and hook size requirement. Although it does keep all the jackarses concentrated in one area, away from the rest of us. Thanks for sharing your videos J, its sad to see it but puts an image to all the ugly stories we've heard thru the years.
  11. I sold a johnson ob to a guy who's son tried to get out to the lake from long pond, and filled his lower unit with sand! I usually do well with the perch in the spring there, but its a fairly shallow pond from what I've learned over the years.
  12. You-da-man! Way to represent this side of the border. What a great, well documented story too... thanks for the edutainment!
  13. Nice pics bro! Not a bad fall for your first shot from what I've read. Keep up the action!
  14. I'm only a few years into trolling myself, but what has worked for me is to invite someone out on YOUR boat, with YOUR gear. I worked thru setting up, to which lines to put out first, and what techniques worked at different depths and conditions. You'll find plenty of guys who would take you up on a trip (myself included, although I'm a humble novice too!).
  15. Nice Steelies! How big is that rod your boy has on the pier? Looks like a saltwater rig! Good times! You can tell by the smiles that they'll be fishing for life!
  16. Nice Pike! Where dju find him? I usually aim for the bay as it gets colder. The clowns in I-Bay are annoying, but predictable for the most part. I've found that they stay to the South East quarter or right up the middle. They might be choosing the warmer, shallow water this time of year. It is disrespectful to drive that close to any fishermen, but we don't exactly look upon them with a whole lot of credit either. Tuck in and around Held's cove, or around any of the marshy areas and you won't have too much traffic to deal with. Remember that they are trying to enjoy the water just as much as you are, and are prob. just ignorant to how much space we prefer. On the other hand, maybe a potato gun would get your point across!
  17. Ha! Didn't bother me actually... Fresh cider from Kelly's in Hilton is good stuff. Add the spice and it kept us nice and toasty! Eh! Nice surprise indeed!
  18. I anchored near Seth Green Island for an hour or so and let a few stickbaits work in the rapids... Didn't get any King strikes, but I caught a 32" Northern on a chartuese jr.thunderstick! Toothy faught like a 30lber! he made 3 runs and got up outa the water twice! I believe I had a rainbow on for about 10 seconds during the slow troll back. Minus the impromptu rain around 9am, it was a nice morning to be out. BTW, Captain + Cider.... strongly recommended! Warm or cold
  19. Why can't they have a triggered release on the door thats activated from inside the truck instead of numb-nuts climbing on top of the cage? Stupidity deserves to be injured. Thanks for sharing!
  20. I've driven my boat upstream many times. 3 times this fall. Under the 104 bridge there is hardly a current so I'm not sure how you can keep a Jplug in there, but I'll give it a shot... I caught a good sized channel cat with an egg sack on a glow jighead Oct.3rd around 11pm. PikeHunter: You have at least 6ft. of water all the way to the 104 bridge and until you get next to Seth Green Island, but once you get to the end of the island the water is moving pretty good, and there are some nasty rocks in there. The middle of the river stays at about 4ft. until the white water, so I will usually pull up my merc, and use my trolling motor to get me as far as it can and anchor. Good luck!
  21. Just the same story... no fish at all Rumor I heard was RGE bought it, and will have it up and running in 2010. Until then, I'm not sure if there will be any fish swimming thru there. I'll miss casting out in front of there, standing in bathwater in February!
  22. PVC worked fine for me; (3) corner joints, and (9) 4' sections (3 make up ridge, 3 legs on each side, each cut to fit). Then I pull a thicker silver tarp tight with bungies to my trailer every other grommit. I wrap the ends of the PVC with foam to prevent it from scratching. Back the trailer up onto 2x6s, pull the plug, pour antifreeze in the aerator, and tilt trailer up until the outboard is 3" from the ground. I've learned to save my canvas cover for the rainy seasons. 2 years ago I had a puddle develop unattended during one of the january thaws on a 1yr. old $200 cover. It froze, and ripped a 6" hole in it. Tarp cost me $15 and pulls tight to allow snow / water to glide off. Plus, leaving the bow and stern loose allows air flow, resulting in alot less mildew cleanup in the spring. Not sure if its right for everyone, but it works out good for mine.
  23. Yup! Bob Scarciatta (in the pic) told me about Tom the Fishinman pulling up and lending a hand... They're in there! I'm yet to catch one this fall, but I haven't had the time. Looks like rain the rest of the week, so hopefully it will kick it into gear. Does anyone know if the kings are making it upstream past the next few bridges? Hopefully I'll be out there this weekend. The only decision more difficult than Sat-vs-Sun is veggie soup or Adirondack Chowder in the thermos
