  1. On the water by 7. Trolled east to Hedges and back. Only 2 hits, with 1 brown. About 20 fow. Always a good time regardless of the numbers.
  2. I just checked the picture date to verify, we caught about an 8 pound brown in I-Bay while pike fishing on May 21st a few years ago. Can't remember what it hit but it was a surprise.
  3. I just thought it would be fun to see if it works! Sent from my XT1585 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Old Fish Hawk Help My neighbor gave me an old Fish Hawk Thermo Troll temp unit with probe but I absolutely cannot find any info about it or a manual on how to use it. Is this a wireless unit and if so it looks like I'm missing an antenna or some other component on the back side? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  5. There's a launch on the west side of the bay- East Bay Rd basically runs right into the bay and you could launch there. The only problem is there's no dock and no public parking. Now with a small boat you can drag, there's a small fishing access site near where E. Bay Rd and Garner Rd. come together. You could park there and drag the boat to the water and follow the channel into the main bay. Search 7681 E Bay Rd. Wolcott, NY and use street view to see the area I'm thinking of. It's the mowed area to the north.
  6. 6 for 6 on browns east of the bay. All inside 40, 3 color cores are the hot ticket. Sent from my SM-G900V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. YES!--Haha...I see where you're going with that!
  8. You certainly can't base anything on last year. I was just looking at pics from last year and we picked up a 28lb king off Sodus on April 28, 2012.
  9. We fished for a few hours Saturday morning off the pier with about 15 other boats. We had two releases but nobody home. Washed J-Plugs and mag spoons. It was too rough to go off shore so we just stuck it out off the piers. We only saw a couple other hook-ups. The excitement for the day came from a big tug and barge that literallly drove up our rear. We were at least a quarter mile off the pier heads on a northerly troll trying the outskirts of the river plume. Our spoons were probably under the barge at one point, it got that close. We basically had to turn and run from it. They were going out deeper to dump soil. Needless to say, I didn't appreciate it. Here's a couple pics I took after we got out of its way.
  10. 19.5 ft SeaNymph GLS- the channel is open, you just have to enter and exit by hugging the east shore. The channel itself is 3-6ft deep, unfortunately the lake in front of the channel is only 1.5-2 ft deep.

First time out this month. We hit the first king (10lbs) down 60 over 90 before we had all the lines in. Picked up a small steelie down 50 over 120 on a yellow spoon. Marked some bait and hooks up in the 20-40ft range but no takers. Slid out a little deeper and picked up two, 18 and a 19 lbs. Both came on wire out 225 over 215ft. Wonder Bread Spin Doc w/ Mt. Dew fly. Not bad for our crew.
  12. The East Bay channel is not open all year. The DEC requires it be closed in the fall to prevent the draining of the wetlands south of the bay. It's kind of a waste though, since mother nature opens and closes the channel several times throughout the winter and spring. I've taken my 19' SeaNymph through it this year and it hasn't been dredged yet. The channel will, however, be closed in early June for the application of weed treatment, then dredged for the season.

  14. Hey bandrus, I have a SeaNymph GLS195, what do you run your planers off of? I'm assuming a mast somewhere on the bow? I'm looking to get set up for planers but not sure how I want to do it. Any details you can give would be appreciated. Thanks.
  15. While you're speaking of East Bay here's the East Bay Channel on March 7th. It's crazy what the weather can do! o
  16. Hi Mortigan, We launched next to you, we're the gray Sea Nymph with the blue canvas. We ended up with 5 browns and one atlantic. We stuck it out in the waves but should have followed you into the bay to try for steelies.
  17. Had to go north to find some ice. Fished Eel Bay on Saturday along with about 100 other people. 10-13 inches of ice with good access at the launch. Several cars and atvs on the ice. Non-stop perch action but most were small so we had to sort a lot. Also landed 7 pike and missed a few more. Most were small, though. Fished Goose Bay for a couple hours on Sunday. 12-14 inches of ice with good launch access. The further out the better, ended up with a good catch of large perch as we moved around. The deeper we went the bigger they got but there was still a lot of sorting.
  18. East or West out of IBay this weekend? I'm thinking of trying west to get out of the mud, thanks for any help.
  19. I use Church Walleye Boards set up so they slide down to a swivel above the lure. I only use them for trolling near shore for browns so i have a swivel where my 8 lb. leader starts. I put the swivel in a location where I can net a fish with the board still on the line at the swivel. Example, an 8' rod would have a 7' long leader. You can rig the boards either way, though. I've never lost a fish from the board sliding to the swivel but sometimes the board slides to the swivel and dives underwater if there's a good size fish on. This adds a lot of tension to the line and could possibly reduce the tension on the fish, but I think it's better than having to release the board by hand while fighting a fish.
  20. With the upcoming weather forecast for Rochester- 15-30mph SE winds, is it worth fishing for browns this Saturday? Will the shore keep it calm in close or should I forget about it? Thanks

  22. We fished from about 7-11am and there was a little action early on but it died off quickly. We managed a few small perch jigging and had several scoop and drops on the tip ups. The other people we talked to out there said the same thing. Only saw one pike iced. Looks like we should have made it an afternoon trip.
  23. It was definitely a zoo! We were out before daylight. At 6am it was like a parade out of the river.
  24. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Zigs Rig III ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 9/18/2010 Time on Water: 5:30- 10am Weather/Temp: Chilly then nice Wind Speed/Direction: SSW Waves: 1' or less Surface Temp: 65 deg. Location: Genesee River LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 2 Total Boated: 2 Species Breakdown: Kings Hot Lure: Spoons Trolling Speed: 2.4-2.6 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 20-25 feet Lure Depth: 15 feet ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Started before daylight and got the first one at about 7:30. Nice male on a red spoon with some glow striping that I added. He was colored pretty good and had several lamprey marks. Our scale said 25lbs but it's a cheap spring scale. Next fish came at 8:15 on a black and white spoon with a green ladder that I added. Nice female that our scale weighed at 24lbs. That one was successfully released. Both fish were on the west side of the pier on an east troll. Tons of boats out, I saw a few other hookups around, too.
