  1. Captain Rick, I watched the video, Thanks for the report!! You did not indicate where you fished but I am assuming it was out of the Genesee and then east toward Irondequoit Bay and maybe all the way to Webster. Just wondered if you went east and not west if in fact you were out of the Genesee. Looking forward to more reports. I wish the future weather forecasts were more promising. Mr Kato
  2. Rich, I am in Erie and thought about stopping at the Fish USA store on Monday March 2nd. Looks like they only have 6 of the colors in stock now: ayu killer, chrome blue back orange belly, citric shad, lacy tiger, leech, and my secret. i know you like the Citic Shad. Woukd you recommend any of the other 5 colors? Thanks Mr Kato
  3. Bill, Thanks for he report. Fished out of Braddock Bay on Wednesday. Could not get out early but out at 845. Fished til about noon. Not a single release. Fished anywhere from 80 out to 180 between Braddock Pt and Lighthouse Pt. Screens looked better in 80-120 ft but not able to get a release. Still THOUSANDS of dead baitfish on the surface, Mr Kato
  4. Bill - Just saw this post of yours. What a great day!! - Kevin (Mr Kato)
  5. Great day of fishing in mid-December!! Thanks you for the report. Were you fishing out of the port of Rochester and then east?
  6. I appreciate the replies. If there is only a foot of water in several spots in the channel it might be tough getting my boat thru. I can always travel to Oak Orchard. Water might be deeper there. Thanks again!
  7. I know that the lake level is down 1.75-2.0 ft from its maximum (246.16) in mid July 2024 and is now at 244.36 ft (Oct 31st reading). With the lake level being down nearly 2 feet over the last 3 months, I was wondering if anyone has been out thru Braddock Bay channel recently and what the depth of water might be in the channel. I was thinking of doing some near shore fishing for browns in November but did not want to spend the time/energy launching my boat at Westpoint Marina if I can't get thru the channel to the lake. I have a 21 ft Crestliner with a 120hp outboard and 9.9hp trolling motor but if water level in channel is low I might not be able to navigate safely thru the channel. If anyone has any recent information on depth of water in the channel I would appreciate it. Thank you. Mr Kato
  8. Thanks for all the tips on what baits you are using. In your reports could you provide specifics on what depth of water you are fishing and at what depths are you setting your riggers? And are you fishing east/west of the Genesee? Just wondered. Thank you!
  9. Looks like you were out early by the photo with the sun just coming up. How far down were you jigging? I was out today from about 10am-130 and got nothing. Water temp seemed all messed up between Braddock and Lighthouse Pt with 45 degree water down about 40-45 ft in 70-150 ft depth. I am going to have to try this jigging. Is it best early in the morning or late at night? Mr Kato
  10. Thank you for the reply!!
  11. I fished Sunday 7/21 morning/early afternoon (10am - 2pm) out of Braddock Bay in that 80-110 ft range and marked tons of fish but could only manage one 14 pound king. And to get a decent down speed (2.5-2.8) we had to troll east/northeast, not west or northwest. To get a down speed of 2.5-2.8 trolling west or northwest we had to crank the surface speed up close to 4 knots! Just wondered what you were seeing in that 150-220 ft of water. Guess maybe we should have gone out a little farther instead of staying in that 80-110 ft range. But maybe the time of day also made a difference. Mr Kato
  12. Similar to the above post: would be interested in knowing the type and size/weight of the igging spoons. From some of the photos from this post and a previous it looks like the color might be white with some black markings on the spoons. Any info you could provide would be appreciated. I have often thought about trying that technique. Thank you! Mr Kato
  13. Just wondered how long of a lead are you running on your spoons on your 70/80 riggers? I fished Sunday morning/early afternoon (10am - 2pm) out of Braddock Bay in that 80-110 ft range and marked tons of fish but could only manage one 14 pound king. Was running about 15ft leads on my spoons off of the riggers. And to get a decent down speed (2.5-2.8) we had to troll east/northeast, not west or northwest. To get a down speed of 2.5-2.8 trolling west or northwest we had to crank the surface speed up close to 4 knots! What directions were you trolling? Or what direction was best for you? Thanks! Mr Kato
  14. How are the spiny fleas the last few days? When I was out there earlier in the week (Monday/Tuesday timeframe) they were real bad. Lines full of them. Any tips on how to keep them off the line? Mr Kato
  15. Whaler1: I am heading out tomorrow out of Braddock Bay. Were you fishing off/near Braddock Pt? If you can provide any info that would be great. Depth, speed, lures, etc. Thank you! Mr Kato
  16. Was that 2.3-2.5 speed you referenced surface speed at speed at the downrigger ball?
  17. What depth of water did you fish and how deep were the riggers set? - Mr Kato
  18. Zach, That's quite a laker!! Congrats! What port did you fish out of? Just wondered. Mr Kato
  19. Thank you for the info! I appreciate it. I will be ordering these spoons. Your information is always very helpful. By the way: I grew up with you dad and his brother Joe. They were a couple years older than me. Great guys!! Mr Kato
  20. Captain Rich - went to the link provided and FIsh USA site and lots of Dreamweaver lures there. Would you have the item # or model # for the Silver UV Alewife and the White UV alewife and the Gold alewife (good brown trout bait) Would like to order some of each of those but wondered if you had the actual item so that I make sure I order the right lures. Thank you! Love the posts!! Mr Kato
  21. Hope to get out on the lake this Friday, May 17, launching at Braddock Bay. I was wondering if anyone has fished the Sandy Creek/Hamlin, Lighthouse Point or Braddock Bay areas recently and have any information to share on recent fishing experiences in these areas, whether salmon or brown trout or whatever. My last time out was about 4 weeks ago and we did very well on brown trout back then. Fished 10-20 ft of water that day. Caught about a dozen in 3-3.5 hours of fishing. But I am sure things have changed since then as water has warmed. Any information that anyone could share would be appreciated!! Thank you! Mr Kato
  22. Just wondered if you fished east or west out of the Genesee on Saturday/Sunday. Last week you indicated you had gone west. As always thanks for the reports!! Mr Kato
  23. Capt Rich: you said you went west from the Genesee. How far west did you go? To Braddock Bay? West of Braddock Bay? Where was that salmon caught? Like others have said: great video!! Thanks for sharing!! - Mr Kato
  24. Last time I was thru the channel the water was crystal clear (light winds that day) and water depth about 2.5-3.5 ft. So if there is/are obstruction(s) (concrete pylons) in the channel they should be visible on days like this and maybe the marina/town should be made aware of this to have them removed. I am going to notify WestPoint Marina to see if they have any comments.
