  1. I have the cannon. Can't compare it to anything because it's the only one I have owned. My gripe is sometimes past 100 feet It drops the signal and I need the wet towel trick. Other than that I havn't had an issue.
  2. boat isn't too small if the wind is right but it's gonna need downriggers
  3. Bluewater'''If you've got a boat small enough to trailer you may want to take a ride to Seneca. I went on Sunday and scratched the itch with some lakers.
  4. Not the answer I was looking for but I appreciate the info.
  5. Good reminder of how fast things can happen. Glad you are ok.
  6. I was looking at the livecam of the harbor this morning and it looks like the ice is gone. Does anyone know if the shoreline is clear yet. Has anyone been out for browns yet? Thanks, Brian
  7. Launched ouy of Severne about 9:30. Thanks to the post from Jason and others we had a starting point. Ran 2 miles south and trolled back with the wind working from 80 to 130 fow. Ran four rods and only 1 fired, but it fired 10 times. The bad news is I only had one of that set up (white spin doc with green spots and fly). Swapped out the other rods for 3 hours with everything else in the box but that set up was it. Nice day to be on the water and kept a limit of nice fish.
  8. Everything they said plus I tried it on the small riggers for Oneida because of the claim that it reduces cable hum.....It doesn't!!! I ended up making slider sets for beaver trapping with it...works great as long as your not fishing with it.
  9. Trout and salmon...I live on Oneida so the freezer is stocked well with perch and eyes. Just got an itch to get out of the shanty and back in the boat.
  10. Going to launch out of Severne Sunday am. Have never been before...will monitor 68. How are the forecast west winds 10-15 going to affect us?
  11. Great post. Do you mind if I ask how deep you were fishing?
  12. Fast Forward Fiberglass repair in Brewerton.(315-676-3337). I had them do some work for me and I was very satisfied.
  13. Big help, thank you.If I you ever need Oneida info. let me know. Would like to return the favor.
  14. Looking to take a break from Oneida ice fishing on the next good weather weekend. Is severne my best bet to launch and if so does anyone know the address so I can Mapquest it? Thanks in advance.
  15. Fished Constantia Sat. 1/2/10. 4 inches of ice out to Little Island....after that it starts to get leaner. Fished 8:00-10:30, managed 19 perch from 9-13 inches. There was slush in spots even before this snow. Anyone heading out from the old bank in Constantia would do well to stay west of Little Island for now.

    Question

How far up will a walleye come to hit a trolled bait? I am having no trouble catching walleyes trolling reef runners, but I know they are running in the 26-28 foot range. The screen as shown is loaded with bottom holding fish throughout the entire basin. What I am not showing are any suspended fish. Are they shying from the boat or rising up? To find out I went back and jigged a large spoon in at 28 feet to see if I could raise them. The 2nd screen shows that they will rise a few feet but no more. If I lower a spoon with a gulp minnow down to them they smoke it. Will they follow a trolled bait and rise slowly or am I just not seeing the suspended fish? Any input would be appreciated.

    Oneida night bite

P.S. The docks at Godfrey point have been pulled so bring hip boots to launch.
  21. water temp is 45.5 and gin clear on the north shore. The weeds are leaving fast and the night bite has been on and off. Last night an east wind roiled up Cleveland and fishing was on. Any reports on a day bite on the lake would be appreciated.
  22. Good luck Landshark. Saturday's forecast for Picton area is 20 knots from the west. Be safe.
  23. Nice pics. It looks like it's time to head to Picton. Walleye magic-We used a guide about 10 years ago and I still see him on Quinte all the time. If your interested his name is Rick Summerville and he operates out of Skevy's bait in Belleville.( 613-969-1035) It was a lot of years ago but he did right by us and flattened out the learning curve for catching fish up there. Good luck

    hungry walleyes!

That's the largest fish I've taken from a walleyes stomach. The usual program this time of year is to anchor on a spot at dark , throw a stick bait while I keep one eye on a lighted slip bobber rig with a minnow on it but this changes the size of minnows I'll be using. The larger fish usually come on the slip rig....maybe they are more wary....any thoughts?
