  1. Well actually i just checked the ice on port bay today with a buddy and we are going out in the morning. We checked the ice off of tompkins point and there is a solid 6-8 inches of ice, there were a couple of guys in shanties off of graves point towards the north end as well, so i can only assume that the ice is safe, and they are getting the perch. I will report tomorrow after we get off the ice.
  2. nice fishing, where abouts is loon lake? just wondering im from fairhaven and im fishing the park pond for some crappie, but just looking for some other places to go.
  3. How old is the engine, roughly how many hours have been put on it? just curious to find a smaller engine for my boat.
  4. Times Two, do you have any pictures of the riggers? I am very interested!!
  5. I am looking for 2 Cannon Uni-troll downriggers with the adjustable boom from 2 feet to 4 feet. I would prefer the riggers to be black, not looking for a certain year, anything from 1990 up will do, need them for the sides of my boat. Thanks a lot to anyone who can help me out!!!!!!
  6. I think you people are wrongly accusing carpedium, and like he said if you are going to argue on his posts, then just dont say anyting. HE KEPT 6 FISH, that is it, unless there are only a couple hundred browns in lake ontario i think the population of browns are going to be fine. What about some of the guides who go into the salmon rivers and oswego rivers who keep everything they catch? Catch and release is right, but what would happen if everyone practiced catch and release. The bait in lake ontario would be gone because of the high #'s of fish that need it and the salmon and trout populations would start to decline because of a lack of food, eventually leading to the point where there would very few fish to catch. What he is doing is FINE, keep 5 or 6 browns when you go out every once and a while, its not hurting anything. If you're going to complain about what he does, than this site isnt for you at all. GOOD JOB CARPEDIUM, and keep up the good fishing and the posts, atleast you know that i support you. So next time you try to accuse someone of wrongdoing, think before you say anything, it would help your cause, and not make you look like idiots
  7. How much would you be asking for two of the downriggers with the 4 ft. beams? I am very interested
  8. You are right, and i should keep it to myself, thanks for talking some sense into me cuz if that did happen and a bunch of snaggers went to fish it i would probably be steaming if i was trying to fish there. I guess i didnt realize i was putting my own little secret in jeopardy of destruction. once again thanks. you learn new stuff everyday.
  9. We all share one common reason why we fish. And it is simply because we love it. I love to fish, i grew up fishing and it was a way to keep me out of trouble as a kid. i was a kid living in Fair haven so i lived on the water my whole life. And as a younger kid up to about the age of 7 or 8 all i would use is worms and a hook, sometimes a bobber depending on what i wanted to catch. As i started to grow i learned. I learned from the fish, the weather and from the water. I began to use lures and fish different ways at different times. Anything i could do to get on the water i would do it, and i began to become a better angler. Now as a young man (18 yrs old) I am now in the most complex part of fishing---trolling lake ontario. In my opinion i am a good fisherman, but the thing about fishing that keeps us all interested is that you can always get better, there is always something else to do to catch that trophy fish. Every day of fishing is different, and it is a challenge, every time you pick up your pole its a challenge. The thing is with the challenge comes fun and good times with family and friends from catching panfish with your kids, or chasinig tip downs on the ice with a group of friends, to trolling the lake and catching doubles and triples. We fish because once you get into it, you are drawn and you love to fish, and there is no way you can lose that love. THAT IS WHY WE ALL FISH, with an example of my life.
  10. Went back home to fish 2 weekends ago. The weather set me up perfectly until i got there. Rain all week and strong winds. Fished the mouth thursday from 5 to 9 and went 1 for 3 on a firetiger rapala. Friday fished the creek and went 0 for 3 real big fish in the creeks right now in Sterling. Last night fishing the mouth was Saturday and i went 6 for 10 big fish was a 30 lber sry no pics i sat on my camera and broke it. Saturday i fished cleos in the 3/4 size and storm stickbaits caught all of my fish between 6 and 9. Not sure whats going on now but it was great fishing.
  11. (i am the one in the blue coat) and i caught my fish on the glow in the dark thunerstick that is in the fish's mouth and if you enlarge the picture of me fighting the fish you can see it in the water and my lure glowing. My friend caught his fish on a Yellow cleo with red dots on it, and our own patterns of glow tape on the back. most of the lures i use i change in a little way just to give the fish something new to see, and maybe trigger a hit.
  12. A cleo that usually works very well for me at night are the split cleos that are half bright green and half darker green, with both sides glowing. Also when the sun is just going down i have very good luck with the silver and blue cleos but i cover the silver part with regular glow tape. hint-try the thundersticks in the fire tiger and glow in the dark fire tiger, it is what i have my best luck on when the water is stirred up, and it is overcast out
  13. well the past couple of years it has seemed quite slow around the fairhaven area on the lake but the past 3 years have been my best years fishing the mouth of sterling creek (which is the smaller channel leading out of the park into the lake) I havent heard much about it this year yet, but am going back home to fish there this weekend i will be out thursday through tuesday and i will let you know how i do and if there is are fish worth going there for.
  14. Hi to all of those who share the same love for fishing as i do. My name is Jon Pafundi and i am an 18 year old fishing freak. Anything u want me to catch i will do it just give me the stuff. I just recently bought a boat and it is a 21 foot Blue Finn Royale with a 115 Evinrude V4. Previously a charter boat i equipped the boat for fishing for salmon and trout. I only used the boat twice before i had to go to college but both times we did fish. Now it sucks becuase i live in Alfred, New York playing basketball for Alfred State University and i am 3 hours away from home and my love of fishing. Well that is pretty much me in a nutshell so there u go
