  1. If he was as badly wounded as you described him when you jumped him last night, I can't imagine he would go too far into the thick cover before bedding back down again. If you are able to get a few extra sets of eyes to search, you could still find him Sent from my SM-A505U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Good luck, Rob. I'm still confident that you'll recover him! Sent from my SM-A505U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Congrats Holy Diver, nice buck! I have a feeling we are going to see a few more good ones drop through this weekend.
  4. That's too bad....i think we were all looking forward to hearing your version of Curly
  5. I ended up buying four of the Wildgame Innovation cameras through Dick's last week. They arrived yesterday, but since my wife works from home, she found the package before i got home....which means she has leverage.
  6. I was just looking at the forecast for the next week or so and thought the same thing. I'm staying out of the woods for the next few days because of the weather, but I'll be out Friday morning and hopefully most of the weekend.
  7. Congrats on your first archery buck!

  9. x2. Jeff has a lot of great hunting tips, I enjoy watching all of his videos. I especially like the idea of the vertical licking branches Sent from my SM-A505U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I would say yes it is the same deer. Looking at the length of the G2 on his left side, and his right brow being slightly longer and slanting in.
  11. Frogger - Wildgame Innovations Terra Extreme (14 MP) is on a "flash" sale through Dick's right now - only until 10pm tonight. Originally $79.99, marked down to $34.98 https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/f/up-to-50-off-trail-cameras-flash-sale I bought four of them a few days ago, supposed to arrive on Monday.
  12. Thanks for all the suggestions, now I have somewhere to start looking! Sent from my SM-A505U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Can anybody recommend a decent trail camera for around $50 or less? I've got several higher quality cameras, but there are some areas on another property that i would like to scout without putting a lot of money into the cameras. Doesn't have to be anything special or have all the bells and whistles, just something that will take decent day/night time pictures.
  14. Thanks for the kind words, guys! We are back home and on the mend. I was able to sneak out tonight for a quick hunt close to home. Father in law chopped twice around a corn field a few days ago. Hoping the deer come out to clean up a bit tonight. Sent from my SM-A505U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Well, not exactly the view I was hoping for this morning! My almost 2 year old had surgery at Strong on Monday, and early this morning he woke up with bleeding and some complications. Took him to the ER in Elmira and they are transferring him back to Strong. As much as I was looking forward to being in the woods today, family is always my #1 priority! 16. Can't wait for tomorrow morning's sit. After high winds and fairly steady rain for the past three days, i think there will be a lot of movement tomorrow. The wind is supposed to die down overnight, and the overnight low in our area will be 33°. Good luck to everyone else this weekend!
  17. Congrats on your buck, awesome picture with you in the background too!
  18. Can anybody recommend a good safety harness for kids? Looking for something that will work for my 6 year old son, but also adjustable enough that he can wear it for several years to come.
  19. That sucks man, sorry to hear that! Hope for your sake that it's not true.
  20. My first week in college, i was part of a community service project around campus and got poison ivy on both of my legs from my knees down. I started out using Calamine lotion for the first few days, but that did nothing. It got so bad that my feet and ankles swelled up to the point that i couldn't put my shoes on, and had blistering/scabs covering my legs. Steroids finally got rid of it, but I still have some scarring from it. Ever since then, i avoid it at all costs. No deer is worth going through that again....i think
  21. Thanks Joe & Rob for the responses on the scent drippers. I've got two areas in particular that always have scrapes under the same branches, but like always, the majority of the pictures are during the night. I know part of the idea with scent drippers is to try to get those nocturnal bucks to visit the scrape during daylight hours when the scent is actively dripping. With that being said, i think i'll stay away from the drippers. The last thing i want to happen is to possibly change their routes away from those areas!
  22. We've had several instances with bears going after our Cuddeback cameras as well. Every year we at least have bears sniffing them up close, but last year and this year we've had a camera ripped off the tree and carried 20-30 feet away from where they were set up. Makes for some interesting pictures and videos, that's for sure
  23. Does anybody use scent drippers over scrapes? Just curious if they are worth trying out...What time of year is best to start them, and what is your go-to scent when using them?
  24. Nice job! We should have ran farther North per a PM from a fellow LOU member, but my step dad has a bad back and didn't want to have a rough ride and potentially be laid up the rest of the day. Still not a terrible day though, we are still learning!
