  4. either way can be productive...yes there are buoys on right as you go out get past them and swing back in (sage creek area ) to the left in front of the beach it seems water is low in that area as well( as are most places on the lake) be sure to go wide around to the left as well we never moved a rod til catfish creek fri or sat good luck

  6. right or wrong i trailer mine (alot) with the motor down...also i use a cinch strap to help control the bouncing when trailering....when in the water motor is always in down position
  7. tuesday morning.....parking lot and ramp were 90% bare.....1 boat out.....still need to access thru the exit side but plenty of room to get thru
  8. was there sun morn...was light snow and ice in parking lot and a lil snow on the ramp...was usable....weather looking ok this week should be good from here on
  9. have run them behind cow bells with success
  10. when pulling the off shore boards typically i run 2 each side and 1 in each rigger....but you can run 3 each side with no problem the off shores will easily pull 1 and 2 color cores lenght back depends on water clarity and what the fish want split shot works if needed to keep a spoon down farthest board out is farthest rod forward and so on usually i only run the inline boards for walleye....pulling stick baits on the mono and worm rigs on the cores good luck
  11. 8'6 eagle claw rods are good inexpesive choice....like 28.00 ea do yourself a favor and go with 30 series reels to start with....or end up buying more later in year when you decide to try the salmon fishing.... okuma magda reels are good choice at like 50.00 ea i normally spool with 30 lb suffix on all my reels and then in spring when fishing browns simply tie on a 50 to 100' 10 lb leader...also works for walleyes when done brown fishing just cut leader off and ready to chase the kings your boat is plenty big enough for king fishing in late summer and the fall....just be weather wise... good luck out there
  12. nice job guys...i was the one up on shore when you went by lil salmon headed west wishing i was out there......just been to chilly to drop my i/o in yet....maybe next wknd
  13. wire for sure.......okuma 30's are cheaper and will hold 1000' of wire nicely i got some that are 4 yrs old and still work fine....and i use them alot
  14. yea most creeks blew open this week.....lil salmon is open and launchable.....sposed to be 30 mph west winds on thurs...maybe that will clear the pier at selkirk....but it sposed to be cold again this wknd so no big hopes for getting boat out
  15. selkirk pier still covered in pack ice as of tuesday afternoon.....maybe the breakwall in oswego
  16. your idea should work ok....i've never run anything but wire dipsy's but do run 2 off each side...outside #3 setting run higher...inside #1 setting run deeper

  18. great lakes planers also offers a 3 or 4 rod vertical holder with a track base
  19. 3rd wknd in may is usually the spring classic in henderson harbor....put on by chamber of commerce
  20. story reads as capt error.....cant fix stupid
  21. tow line helps to stagger them also the fish will tell ya how long a leader they want (water clarity is big part also ) water conditions and number of boats determine how far out to run the otter typically i start 150' out from boat run couple lines 100' back then couple 50' back and couple inbetween somewhere
  22. split shot or drop weight will get spoons down mini discs also will work after fish are a lil deeper yes you can pull copper or lead core 2nd keel waste of money i prefer the clipper releases but the scotty's work well also
  23. fat nancys had some in stock last fall
  24. support your local sport stores and or marinas
