  1. Sorry Here is Kade's winning laker....and my short handled net.
  2. You're kickin' the snot outa the big browns this year!! Awesome! Gonna have to get a tie for Kade! Kyle
  3. Had a great weekend! Took the camper and the girls this time...they spent the weekend doin' "girlie" stuff while we fished and they also had a ball. Anyway, back to the important stuff...our B&B team mate, Bruce, met us at the camper at 6 and we wasted no time gettin' on the water. We had planned on runnin' up to Long Point but decided water would probably be warm with the south wind all week, so we ran to the scout camp and set up trolling north. Temp was down around 80'. Set up a 9 rod spread with 4 on the riggers, 4 dipsys, and a lead core. First fish was a legal Atlantic on the leadcore pullin' a firetiger stick. Got reset and 240' dipsy with green dolphin SD and Kade's favorite fly(agitated frog) takes off. Kade was all business shoutin' out orders as he fought his winning fish to the net. 8# 13oz laker. After that, it was a painfully slow pick of small lakers and atlantics. Well...they weren't all small...we threw back a 7# laker...ooops didn't think it was big enough to hold on the "Big Boy" board. Fished up to Sheldrake, turned around as the north wind got blowin' pretty good, and trolled south to the yacht club. Pretty much every rod took a fish at some point, but really had to work for them. Temp was down 130' when we picked up down there. Sunday Bruce was at the camper again at 6 and we decided to try runnin' a shallower program, maybe get lucky and pick up a big brown. Set up in front of scout camp again and tried running the bench up to Rocky Dock. We picked a few small fish...screen was great again but couldn't get much going. Turned around at Rocky Dock and came back down thru...blank screen . Turned around again at scout camp and tried deeper water...nothing too exciting. Turned around again at Rocky Dock and decided to try the bench one last time before picking up. Moved in and hit 90 fow, made a hard turn to hold that line, and 140' dipsy pullin' a grease trap gets clobbered. Kade is all business again and gets it in far enough to see the fish... ...looked like a submarine comin' in. I told Kade to let him keep his head in the water as I laid on top of the outboard on my belly with net in hand. 2' outa reach and he's off...and immediately headed back to the bottom. Bruce chuckled a little and said" I told you you needed a longer handle on that thing you call a net!" Reset and trolled back to scout camp but couldn't find any more willing big guys although the screen had lit up again. We did get a 2# rainbow that thought he was 10# and put on a heck of a show. All in all...tough fishing, but we had a good time. Kade was soooo pumped that he won the youth division...AND...beat the "Big Boys" with the biggest fish on the board...I think he's probably gonna make me throw in $20 for him next time so he can fish in the "Big Boy" division. Thanks to all involved in puttin' this together, and thanks again Scott for the extension cord! Kyle
  4. Go buy your diapers okuma...the thrill Kade got outa beatin' the "Big Boys" was worth far more than the money. Besides, rules are rules, and he was in the youth division. I think, however, he's gonna use his gift certificate to buy me a net with a longer handle we lost a BIG laker sunday that was about 2' outa reach. Congrats on the win! Thanks to Barney and Bear for puttin' this on, and thanks to Splitshot for loanin' us an extension cord so we could plug in the boat saturday night. Kyle
  5. Kade is countin' the days...can't wait. We're bringin' the camper for the weekend this time...hopefully the boat survives the trip with my wife towing it! Kyle
  6. Where did you fish Rob? We fished Sunday btween scout camp and sheldrake both sides...51 degrees down 80'. Slow for us too, marked a lot of bait and fish but they had lockjaw. The only way we could get rods to move was to get off the bait and pick at the liners suspended in deeper water. Kyle [ Post made via Android ]
  7. Ditto on the X-4...love it!!!! [ Post made via Android ]
  8. Sorry Ed...but...starting to wonder if you're related to Red Green he he. Wow, that is some string of bad luck. Got fingers crossed for ya for tomorrow. Kyle [ Post made via Android ]
  9. In a word...ROUGH...Kade & I launched at T-falls and headed north. Set up by scout camp pointed into the wind. As I was setting rods Kade would warn me that a big wave was coming. A few were coming over the bow a little, no big deal. As I was setting the last rod, he hollered again and then my feet were wet...looked down and I'm standing in about 4" of water. Time to turn around and troll with the waves. Went to relieve Kade at the wheel, glance down and notice that he is sitting there with his feet in a bucket I asked him what he was doing..."I almost got my feet wet Dad!!!" We got turned around and trolled south back past the launch and down to crowbar point. Had 58 degrees down 75'. Rigger at 75 took 3 salmon @ 2lbs. 85' Rigger took a 5lb Laker. Dipsys out 280 and 300 both took a couple lakers and a few short strikes. 220 and 240 dipsys were quiet. Fleas were all but gone, and weeds were broken up but all over. Kyle
  10. Glad ya got it figured out! HMMM...my wife also says I holler when she drives...maybe I can talk her into getting me one for X-mas! Kyle
  11. I would also like to thank everyone involved with putting this together! Kade & I had a great time, put a lot of fish in the boat, even found a few big guys who apparently didn't want to see the inside of our boat And I would like to add that everyone we met out on the water was very courteous, and it got pretty crowded a couple of times. Can't wait til B&B Fall Derby! Kyle
  12. Great minds think alike...hermit ya beat me to it while I was typin'.
  13. I hope we don't need anything, sent mine in by mail so no receipt. Rules also state everyone in boat must wear PFD while motor is running...does that include kicker motor while trolling? Kyle
  14. Kade & I ran up to T-Falls after work with a friend and his daughter...got a late start...set up in front of scout camp @ 7:00. Spent first 45 min battling weeds then they seemed to clear out. Temp was down around 65', lots of bait and fish 40' - 60'. Sent spoons down on the riggers at 40', 50', 60', and 70'. Flashers and flies out on dipsys at 160', 180', 220', and 240'. Fish didn't seem real serious about eating, just tasting. Started out with a swing and a miss on 40' rigger. Then dropped a good salmon behind the boat off 60' rigger. Had 6 or 7 short strikes on the 3 deepest dipsys. Then dropped a decent laker behind the boat off 60' rigger. Finally got one that actually tried to eat something on 240' dipsy, small laker. Picked up at 8:30 and found a 5" salmon that thought it'd be a good idea to try to eat a 4" spoon. Had a lot of action, just not a lot of catchin'. Next time! Kyle
  15. You must have us confused with someone else. Our names aren't on there...yet. I was really proud of Kade for being such a good sport. He is autistic (actually much more complicated than that, trying to keep it short) and usually his world revolves solely around him. It was a huge step for him to put aside his own disappointment from us not winning, and be happy for those who did win. With some luck, maybe our names will follow yours! Kyle
  16. Congrats Billy & crew! Kade & I had a great time...just couldn't find the big guys. I think our total flea weight was heavier than our fish weight. Kade was bummin' a little on the way to the weigh in, but when we got in the truck to go home he said to me "I'm glad those boys won." Made me smile. Kyle
  17. Kade and I hit the water @ 6:30 and fished til dark. Fished from scout camp north. First fish was a laker on dipsy rod out 180'. It had only been about 15 minutes since we set up, and I think the fleas on the line weighed more than the laker! WOW!!! Picked 3 more lakers on the dipsy rods out 200' and 220', had a couple empty releases on the riggers at 50' and 60'. Ended the day with a real nice salmon on 220' dipsy...except it probably lost a full pound after we removed the 2 lampreys before sending him home to recover. Beautiful evening to be out. Kyle
  18. Kade & I got on the water @ 2:00. We set up in front of T-Falls with 2 riggers and 4 dipsys and headed south. Fished down to next point picking up 1 laker on a 180 dipsy. Kade decided we should run up to the scout camp and give that a try. Got up there and set up and headed north. Temps were a little better but screen was pretty unexciting. Picked thru a few small lakers on dipsys out anywhere from 160' to 300'. Finally 60' rigger started to fire. 3 times no one home, 4th time was a nice 'bow that made some screaming runs the first couple times Kade got it close to the boat. Went a little further north with nothing. Kade wanted to turn around a see if there were any more hungry 'bows so we did and there weren't. Picked a few more small lakers, an 8# laker, and a 10# laker that hit just as I popped the rod to trip dipsy while picking up and about took the rod out of my hand. Ended the day 8/11 and a personal best laker for Kade. Awesome day on the water, even tho we had to really work for the fish we got. Kyle
  19. I like the gripper a lot better than I like untangling lures outa the net! That salmon gave her a pretty good tussle...she hasn't had nearly as much rod time as Kade...but she is getting more and more interested in going...hopefully this will turn into two trips a week since she and Kade don't do well together on the boat...Kade does NOT like to share, major rod hog. Kyle
  20. Daughter Kieran and I made the run up after work. Fished from 6:30 - 8:30. I was surprised the lake was as bumpy as it was. We set up out front of T-Falls and headed south with the wind. We had spoons on 60' and 70' rigger, and 4 dipsy rods out anywhere from 160' - 280'. 60' rigger went first, then 260' dipsy to double up. Both nice salmon. Took a hard rip on 240' dipsy...no one home, 70' rigger took a couple short strikes, 280' dipsy also took a couple short strikes and a small laker. Great evening on the water with my baby girl! Kyle
  21. Any day on the water is a good day. Kyle
