  1. Great mount idea! I have my drake Eider being done with the white wing & a surf Scoter flying in behind them! Cant wait to see them! [ Post made via Android ]
  2. My son Logan & I just returned from a great early season Sea duck hunt from the Mass. coast with good friend & guide Capt. Jack Renfrew of Coast Line Guide Service! Limted out a mix of surf Scoters, White Wing Scoters & Common Scoters. Eiders & Old Squaw were just moving in, we did manage a nice Drake Eider & two hens. Saw lots of Brant as well...great gunning for this time of year on the coast! To top it off it was my sons first trip gunning for ducks in a boat, he knocked two down his first time out! Jack still has some good dates for November & December open, his clients have taken over 23 different species of ducks over his years of guiding, so if there is a certain duck missing from your wall....give jack a shout! Here is his web site. http://www.coastlineguideservice.com Here is a few pics from our weekend!

  6. NIce job! Always a blast to catch them either casting or trolling.......I have yet to break the 40lb mark....some day!!
  7. Some sections of the river hold more schoolies then anything else. Once wr find areas with large arcs.....keep working them until they turn on! Pay attention to lure speed (probe make or break you with tide change), change up your lead lengths. This year 40 - 70 ft was the ticket! [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

Fish were moving in early on but water temps were still a bit cool in the low 50's. last week the temps shot up in to 56 to 60 by this weekend & the fish turned on! We had a couple of 20 - 30 fish days, but most days we concentrated on the larger fish boating 6 to 12 a day in the 10 to 30 pound range. Some reports of a couple of 40 plus being taken. Unfortunately vacation is over & back to work. Pulling the boat home later this week. Here is some pics of a few we took with Happy customers! ====================
  9. Nice Ray! Just got back from my two week stint down there in the Kingston area. What area of the Hudson do you fish?? Last week was pretty good, some 20 - 30 fish days but it slowed this weekend ?? Certainly was plenty of debris!! Good time had by all though.....that's what it's all about!
  10. Well end of the first week & mother nature has held the cards this week. Opening day last Sunday was beautiful & My son got to tag along while dear old dad knocked down a 18lbr with nice 1&1/4" spurs. It has been down hill, friends in town most of the week to hunt & needless to say until this morning it has been SOGGY! O well...what does one do! We got one to work this morning but he had girl friends with him. Giveing it one more shot tomorrow & then heading for the Hudson River for the spring Striper run! Here is a pic of my son with our opening day Tom!

  15. Thanks to Digitroll for reposting on the LOU forum! I have been fortunate to meet many of these folks on the Champlain forum as well as meeting many on here! A great group of guys and some awesome dedication by VT Home & Marine for hosting our winter events! The night was well worth attending as I was lucky enough to add the new Cannon Intelli Troll to the Flashpoint for this upcoming season! Be sure to let you all know how it works, I know Billy V & crew have had great luck with it! Hope every one is getting through this long winter, hitting the Niagara with Sparky for some cold water Iron heads next week....lets hope they cooperate! Matt

  18. Do you have any booth pictures or pics of the display?? I have one but am looking for one that is more portable and less hassel.
  19. Hey guys!! Really great posts!! I couldn't agree more with so many of the theorys, but we too are seeing some of the best deer that i have ever seen taken over here in Vermont this year. I just got a photo of a 150" tenpoint taken last weekend in central VT. For us that is a monster! !! A lot of nice 100 - 130" deer! In my opinion, two mild winters in a row coupled with a good growing season and our fourth year with antler restrictions has all played a part! Yes we too have had an exceptional mast crop year, but i have more rut sign...mainly scrapes...then i have ever seen!! Many bucks with scars & busted times as well!! Maybe this years moon phase has more to as well??? Be interesting to see as well what our total harvest ends up being!! Great thread guys...... thanks!!! [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  20. Hey guys, Thanks again for the Kudo's....as they say It's all about the experience...& having my eight year old with me topped it off! He taked hunter safety next year....sooo needless to say he's hooked!!! Vermont instituded an antler restriction about four years ago. Bucks have to have atleast two points on one side. Known as the "spikehorn" rule. It has def. improved the number of 2&1/2 old bucks we are seeing, but having a couple of mild winters has helped more then anything. Our greatest problem around here is loss of yarding habitat. Housing develpments & logging out cedar/hemlock stands has really cut back the available yarding areas that we really need when the snow gets deep..... But I think in years to come, if mother nature cooperates, that our bucks will continue to get better.....just my $$.02!! Any way...good luck to all....time to get out and hit some divers....& maybe dig the smole pole out!
  21. Thanks Capt! Over here in New England...Body weight is as much about the trophy as horn size! Any thing that pushes the 200lb mark is a true trophy!!
  22. Even though the weather was a bit on the warm side we have been seeing lots of bucks on the move! Lucky enough to take a 150 lb 7 point (busted up eight) with my 8 year old son by my side! Not my biggest buck, but my most memorable one yet!! Some nice bucks being taken with our new state management plan starting to show it's efforts. My neighbor who is 21 took this fine 198 lb nine point. Good luck to all the rest of the fall!
