LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 4 Total Boated:4 Species Breakdown: 1 23" Atlantic, 2 Kings, (13, & 14.5 lbs), and our first Lake Trout, 6 lbs Hot Lure: NBK Magnum/red, MD SD/hammer Trolling Speed: 2.7 mph/gps Down Speed: 2.2-2.4 Boat Depth: 120-150 fow Lure Depth: 92-96 down ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== My son, and myself took the Starcraft out for the first time, this year. Everything worked great, to include the install of a new power trim resovoier. Ran out into 130 fow, sat down with the probe, and took a look. Saw bait, so we set out 2 riggers, 2 dipseys. The atlantic came on the spoon, and all the rest on the flys. The laker was a goof, as we came in, to about 118 fow, and we we picking up our lines, I dropped the speed, and I think we were tapping the bottom, then it looked to be more than that. Thought it was much bigger, as the dipsey didn't pop. Didn't feel like a King, that's for sure. Good morning on the water(but hot). Hopefully many more to come now!!

Fish Hunter replied to FishTank19's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Nice work guys!! We are all set with our camper in place last weekend. Looking forward to catching some this weekend ourselves. Hope we do not get into those blow-offs every weekend like last season. -

NICE!!!! -
I hear ya!! We are changing gears at this point, in our annual migration to the big lake. Big boat/gear is just about squared away, and pulling the camper up there this weekend. Can't wait to connect with the first one!!

Downsize the trebles.

I've fished it last year for the first time. Nice lake, and we boated some nice fish.

Launch at Godfrey Pt, on the North Shore, or put in at Marion Manor Marina, and blast out past Lewis Pt, cut over between, 113-115, get in 38 fow, and set down and take a look. You should see 'em laying in/around that area, with their bellys in the dirt, ready to come home with you, to swim in hot peanut oil.

Get farther east. 117-115.

John, With a first mate like that on deck, it's a wonder you were able to get ANY fishing done!! -
Heard info that fish were congregated near the orange wall. Nope. Looked like a desert. Went to where I had left off on 7/2. Had a few marks, but no walleyes, only white bass. Next drift I moved out, south, to 38-39 fow, and game on. Limited out in no time, with a stiff west wind, and 2-2 1/2 ftrs, the drift was right at .09-1.2 mph, kept making approx 5/8 mile drifts, moving slightly south each pass. One was 21", 6 jack perch, huge white bass. Lost count on the total # of walleyes. Maybe 12. ALL the wallayes came on a Michigan Stinger harnesses, with a pink blade/black dots. Pulled it at 11:00 am, and they were still going, as that lake has a thick "pea soup" algae bloom now, and can only think that the light is not penetrating as much, down into the near 40 fow.

That vessel put a lot of fish in the box. -
Boxed out quickly on the North Shore again, on Saturday, with my son. Had a few shorts, and those were released with great care. The bite slowed as the sun rose higher, but didn't stop. Perch were taken as well, along with Silver Bass/White Bass. We were pulling harnesses/bouncers in 35-38 fow. # 4-5 Colorado perch pattern or firetiger blades, with either a gold back, or chartruse back. Heard on the radio that the folks pulling # 5-7 Rapala's were doing well. May pull stick-baits, or worm-burners tommorrow ourselves. In a few more weeks, it WILL NOT be like this.

I'll say this about those 22 ft. Islanders. They are economical to run, handle some pretty snotty stuff, and jump on/off the trailer easily. Damn good vessel.

My 80 plus year old uncle, once told me that after a fisherman has purchased a lure, it has already done about 3/4's of it's job. -
Smelly Jelly Liquid Walleye Feast. Or Berkley Walleye. Have witnessed these products work many, many times.
-
It is on the North Shore about a 1 mile west of Edgewater Park, and 1/4 mile east of Carbone's "camp". Scott

Look for steep breaks,/base of the breaks, and you should be able to mark fish. Black/purple hair jigs tipped with half a crawler, or Heddon Sonars/silver w/green prisim tape. We pull a lot off bouncer/harness rigs. Experiment with blade color. One thing I have seen make a difference is Smelly Jelly Liquid. Run those #4 Colorado blades at 1.0-1.2 mph.

New member here, why isn't there more talk of Oneida Lake?
Fish Hunter replied to Decked's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
The geograghical lay of things, makes Oneida look like the "thumb" of the finger lakes.
