  1. We have run 11" Slashers/Twinkies/meat on several trips now, and have not had a rod fire. That is not usually the case though.
  2. I have to agree with the sonar comment. BTW, great job on boating that one!!

Lure Depth: 30-85 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Lots of fish caught in front of the Big Salmon, North/South Sandy Pond, on Saturday, but on Sunday, the marks seem concentrated in 50-65 fow, and lockjaw set in. Scattered, with the 4-5 fish occasional pod, from what we saw. Fish have entered the river now, and are above the bridge on Rte 3.
  4. As been mentioned before, another part of the arsenal. Have pulled 'em off big boards(not in traffic, as "trollers rage" will erupt) when they come in close. Works good. Glow(or I have older ones that take a light stick) in the am, and when the sun is on the water, shiney ones.
  5. We stopped running 11" plates/twinkies off the dipsey's, as by the time you have the fish boat-side, your next to the wheel,(in my boat anyway) semi-blind as to the netting.

  7. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Fish Hunter II ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 8/21 Time on Water: 6 hrs Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Wind?? When it it gonna stop?? Waves: Surface Temp: Location: slab LAT/LONG (GPS Cords =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 5 Total Boated:2 Species Breakdown: Kings Hot Lure: MD SD/green lime, Catain Valium SD/Sweet Pea, MD SD/Frozen Frog Trolling Speed: 2.7 gps Down Speed: 2.3 Boat Depth: 90-130 Lure Depth: 75-120 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== My son(17 yrs) brought a friend this weekend, that had never caught a King. After 2 rods go off(nobody home), finally the Dipsey goes, and were hooked up. We hand him the rod. After 1-2 minutes, he lost it. He felt bad, and we told him that no worries. No sooner had we got settled down, and the sd/lime fires and my son has a good one. Boated a 27 lbs male. We continue on the same line, make out turn, and pull back over our mark, and CV/sweet pea fires. My son sets the hook, and game on, as he hands his friend a screamer!! 21 lbs male, but had an attitude. The look on his face was priceless once it was in the boat. "This is the most fun I've had all summer!!!!" were the words that he spoke!! That made my day right there. We went deep/shallow off our marks but the wind seemed to building, so we pulled it, and motored back in. Didn't go out today, as NOAA, said more wind. Long term for up-coming weekend looks good at this point. Now that the Kings are showing up, hope all the rain, doesn't suck them up the river. Keep our fingers crossed.
  8. My 22 ft Islander will handle more than I will. Been in 5-6's before many times. Jumps on/off the trailer, and tows great. They do seem to respond to 150-200 lbs of weight in the nose, as the 4.3 is awful stern heavy.
  9. The fellow on Oneida died, and his son was found clinging to the overturned boat, was what we had heard. Oneida can blow up REAL fast. Seen it happen in 20-30 min. 1 ft'ers to 4 ft'ers. Scott
  10. We were there as well, in our Islander. Only fish we boated were browns in that 75-85 ft flat between the Little Salmon, and the plant. Ventured down the shelf to get temp, and ended up in 180-190 ft. Holy smokes!! Wrong move. We were in 4-5'ers, occasionally busting over the winshield on the way back in to the Big Salmon at 6-7 mph. Semi-same scenario last Sunday. I think we are gonna' have to send an invitation to the Kings, to come over and play. Hope the wind is way less this coming weekend.
  11. Sounds really good!! We use the smoked fish mixed with sweet pickle relish, mayo, salt/pepper/garlic to taste, in a food proccesser, and whip it into a patte'. Get the Ritz crackers out!!!!!
  12. What about the Richard Prior bait-head????? I believe the instructions want you to pack it full of white powder, then light it on fire before sending it down.
  13. Fished it before, and went home empty handed.
  14. We were out in the early am in front of the Pond, and those 5-6's had the Mrs. (Maureen) scared, as our Islander was a getting tossed around like in a washing machine. Even our Choclate Lab took a crap in the boat. YIKES!!!!!!!!!!! Didn't stay long. Congrats on those fish you folks landed!!!!!!!!!
  15. THATS the one, that we were talking about Saturday evening!!!!!!!!!!! Good going!!!!!!!!!! You guys had a 2 other rods going while that big-un' was on?? What a handful!! Nice job!!!!!!!!!
  16. Sounds like a damn nice vessel!! Glad to hear that 117"er is rolling good!!!!!!!!!!!!hehe. Have 2 in-house, to do now, and a 124", as well. We'll be out there first thing, 8/7. Your Dad has my cell number, I think. Call us. Those kings ought to be in the neighborhood, any time now. We are locked, and loaded for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. The king came on a green slasher/twinkie. The browns went on spoons. We also dropped one other fish. Suspected is was another brown. Mike, we usually come out of the Big Salmon, and fish in/around Mexico Bay, and up past Sandy Pond a tick. Thought we'd try our luck up there, Saturday. Lot of structure up in that area by you. Very pretty up around Stoney Point. Folks that do not take advantage of this tremendous resource we have, don't know what their missing. I do not take it for granted whatsoever. BTW, my 17 year old son ran the back of the boat. He is becoming a good fisherman. Scott
  18. Had the same thing going on, along with wicked growl if trying to turn. New gimble now all is waaaaaay good.
  19. Fished the trench/wall 7/30, 1 small King and 2 browns. 90-115 down, 135-150 fow. The big uns' ought to be coming very soon, now.
  20. Those Kings ought to come sniffing soon. Got a good feeling about the next or so.

Kings? Lakers?? Thinking about heading in that direction on 7/31. Thanks, Scott
  22. My 22 ft Islander jumps up on plane with it's 4.3. I too know of the light bow attitude of those boats. Have been considering adding a little weight myself. Speaking of Islanders, All Seasons Sports, has a 22 ft. hard-top out front for sale. It was "Reel Silver's" boat. Scott
