I used the ends he provided. I did end up making it permanent with shrink tube, however. I also, ran my lights directly off the navigation light. I third the 5200! I use it on everything. Be sure area is clean and dry and don't waste it. It's expensive. If you know where the tracks going, and you predrilled, tape off the edges and that 5200 will have a nice clean cut. I one time was trolling on seneca (I know right) and brought in a dipsy that turned dead. Only to find my paddle and fly was gone and instead had a j 11 rapala twisted in my line.
