  1. This is interesting. I was touching bottom yesterday with a #1 with ring, on a 2 setting in 96 fow...with 288 feet of wire out. I am not sure to down speed, but gps was 2.3-2.4 pulling a spin doctor and fly. For what its worth.....
  2. Took advantage of the nice weather and got in a couple hours of fishing after work on Wednesday. Fished from 6:30 til dark and went 1 for 2. Setup in about 90 fow and in hindsight probably should have stayed there. Best screen seemed to be in the 90-100 fow range, but we worked a bit deeper after doubling up on kings on the wires out 200 and 230 in about 120fow. Both were pulling SD's and flies. Only managed to land the one, but it was my GF's biggest fish to date.
  3. Saturday morning my GF and I set up in 120 FOW just east of port with 2 riggers and 2 wires. Within 5 minutes we were doubled up on the wires. We would land one 23lber (turned out to be the biggest fish of the weekend for us) and lost the other. Worked that spot for a bit a took a couple of smaller kings before the screen and the bite dried up. At that point we trolled north to about the 27 line before finding a better looking screen and getting another bite. We would work that area the rest of the morning and take 4 more kings and a couple of steelies, but nothing bigger than mid teens. Mostly a FF bite on the wires for us out 240-275. Sunday we set up inside again early but found little in the way of bait, fish or bites so we headed back to the area we worked the day before in about 425 FOW. Had a great screen all morning out there but just couldn't really get them to go. Landed one mid teens king and a 6-7lb steelie, that hit a J-Plug on a 300 copper, and lost a screamer on the wire when the treble hook on the fly broke off. Not the best of days but we had a great time and it was a great weekend to be on the lake!!
  4. Nice job guys!!! Sent from my ADR6300 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. Fished out of the Oak Friday and Saturday. Friday morning my dad and I got on the water about 6:30 and set up in about 100 fow, just a bit east. We worked this area between 130 and 160 fow most of the morning taking two nice kings, a nice laker and a bunch of steelies including a pretty good one. The steelies were all up high coming mostly on small orange and green variations of Dreamweaver SS spoons run as free sliders off the riggers. The kings and laker came on FF out 210-240 on the wires. That evening my gf and I worked some waypoints from last weekend a bit west of port and had some pretty decent action on kings but nothing of much size...maybe to 10-12lbs. Saturday was much of the same although we only managed one king all day but it was a good one. However the steelies were abundant. We seemed to find them in about 100 fow and then again around 200 when working out deeper trying to find some kings. Again free sliding spoons off the riggers were the hot set up for us. All in all a great weekend of fishing! Cant wait to get back out again!!
  6. My girlfriend and I got on the water about 5 and headed straight out of the creek. Set up in 100 fow and trolled NE. When we got to about 160 the wire pulling a livewire spinny and a white fly takes off! At the same time the 40ft rigger fires with a nice steelie going crazy and airborne right behind the boat. After a bit of a fire drill we managed to land the steelie and a decent king! Re set and circled back thru and landed another steelie on mixed veggie Stinger, cheated off the 40ft rigger. A short while later the same wire that took the first king, takes off screaming! After a good battle we land another nice king!! While resetting that wire I managed to tangle with the other wire and spend the next 45 minutes sorting that mess out! At that point we decided to call it a night and were back to the launch by 8:30. This was my first weekend fishing the lake like this. In the past I have only been able to troll the creek mouths with a small boat. After spending the winter restoring an 18' Starcraft and setting it up for trolling, it was great to get out and see all the hard work pay off!! Thank you to all of you that have posted reports and info on this site. It has certainly made it much easier for an inexperienced guy like myself to go out and have a good time!! Thanks again!! I will be fishing out of the Oak Thur-Sun so I will try to post some reports then and give something back to those that have helped me so much!! Couple pics from yesterday:
  7. It was a 2011. The front brake calipers require minor grinding to get the wheels to fit. Basically just have to round off the top and bottom corners. A lot of guys will just bolt the wheels on and let them rub for a couple miles til they clearance themselves but I did it with a grinder. Sounds kinda scary but it is really a simple operation. The nice thing about the 15" wheels is tires are cheaper and they will make a smaller tire "look" bigger. The tires in the pic are 33x12.5x15. The AEV pro cal module will let you adjust the speedo for bigger tires as well as overide the low tire pressure system so you can run less air pressure in the bigger tires, as well as not having to install TPS sensors in the new wheels. This is nice if you are going to switch between different sets of wheels throughout the year. No swapping sensors or buying another expensive set. The rock sliders are the black steel bars under the rocker panels. They keep the body from getting trashed if you off road it at all, or save the door dings at the mall. lol If you have a Rubicon, you already have them. They are 2 or 4 door specific. Not sure what you have.
  8. I have a set of 5 15x8 Cragar soft 8's (wheels only, no tires) that came off my Wrangler when I sold it. They have been bedlined and have matching Jeep center caps and black lug nuts. They are like new, probably only have 5k summer miles on them. I also have a pro cal module to adjust your speedo if you go with larger tires as well as a set of factory Mopar rock sliders. All of it is sitting in the basement collecting dust. Make me an offer!!

  10. I have an 06 Honda 8hp 4-stroke. Pull start but with the charging system. Tiller handle, short shaft, 3 gallon tank. Motor is nearly new, has approx 20hrs on it. Make me a offer.
  11. The 32gb cards will long outlast the battery even when recording in 1080. A 16gb would probably work but the 32 is definitely enough to do anything you want to do.
  12. Here are some pics of the boat...
  13. I was in a similar situation last fall. I re-painted an older 18' aluminum Starcraft. I started by stripping down the entire boat and removing all components so that the boat could be flipped over for painting. Stripped off all of the original paint with paint stripper and then finished cleaning it up with 120 grit sandpaper on a RA palm sander down to the raw aluminum. Just before (within a couple hours) the first coat of primer the entire surface was sanded lightly with 60 grit on the palm sander. The new primers and paint were an Interlux brand system consisting of an etching primer (1 coat), a high build sandable primer (2-3 coats) and their Perfection top coat (2-3 coats) with sanding to 320 grit in between coats. This was all applied using the roll and tip method with small foam rollers and a good badger hair brush. Considering this was all new to me before starting the results are outstanding. Amazing actually. Very high gloss, smooth finish. you would not believe that it was rolled and brushed on! None of the work was technically hard, just a lot of man hours.....anyone can do it. I probably have close to $1000 invested in materials between primers, paint, thinners, brushes, rollers, etc. Hope this helps....I will try to get some pics posted so you can see.
  14. Mark, Check back thru the last couple of weeks on Craigslist for Rochester. There was a beautiful Penn Yan listed in Macedon I believe. Wasn't rigged but looked like new. FYI.
