  1. Zack- haha yeah I am enjoying it. I figured out what I was doing wrong with the canoe knot but it still doesnt look like much of a knot to me but ill take some practice casts in the yard to see how it holds up. Im really trying to minimize the rate at which I donate 20.00 lures to the lakes via poorly tied knots. Nitro- I dont see how the guy initiates the knot in the beginning for your knot...i feel like its missing a photo that demonstrates it!
  2. aside from everything nitro just said... it does say leader material....im sure you didnt land those sharks with 20lbs line and no leader?
  3. picked up some 100lbs hi seas fluoro and got some stay-lok snaps...planning on tying direct to 50lbs braid on my lighters rig via double uni knot but the knot i was trying to tie to the snap wont hold...I was trying to tie the canoe knot but it keeps slipping and I dont think im doing it wrong but what other knots should I use for thick fluoro when tying to the snap end?
  4. so whats everyones plan gonna be for opening day if the rain is still hovering overhead?
  5. yeah ive driven down the thruway over the seneca its crazy flooded! its going to be forever by the time the levels are down with all this s**t rain we keep getting
  6. so nitro you dont think it would be a good idea to fish cross even if I launched at cross lake marina? or is the lake water quality bad too?
  7. captain larry how far of a drive would that be? i plan on being at conesus all weekend but the week after I was planning on taking a trip to either cross or possibly a PA water to try my first outing of the year for pures
  8. if anyone wants a couple suckers ill be putting in an order that will be here on the wednesday before opening weekend so let me know before then
  9. yes and there will be fish on the south end but like you said id rather explore other areas rather than play bumper boats with the countless other boats that will be down there or I may use the fact that my boat will be launched and ready to go friday night so that I can be on the water at the south end before the sun even comes up so I can do a quick drift before the brigade arrives
  10. that sounds like a cool idea too ^. Ive never been able to get out on boat for opening day before does everyone just head to the north and south ends to get the pike still in the bays from spawning in the inlet? I would imagine thats where a ton of boats will be but ive got a few of my honey holes I plan on heading to first thing...zach I plan on enticing one of those tigers with a nice big fat sucker! let me know if youre going to want any that goes for any of you other guys too
  11. should be in this week! im pumped, gotta find some quality rod holders for it... Captain Larry if you get a chance to watch the vid id like to hear your take on it
  12. I hope not to let you down with the fish pics! ive decided that every cent I earn thats left from paying bills is going towards fishing, whether its gas, lure replacements, line, pretty much anything that needs replacing or that gets broken/lost. im a die hard now and I havent even gotten a pure bred yet!
  13. the double uni is like my new favorite knot!
  14. if only i could get a degree in esox fishing haha
  15. this video makes me paranoid to fish for muskie now haha. really good information though http://www.fishfactor.tv/FISHFACTOR_TV/Resource.html
  16. ditto on what sol said! they get a lot bigger in there...I was reading in a DEC report they found a 56' tiger dead that choked itself on a nice lil walleye so they are growing in there! not to mention its got a fair share of 20-25lb northerns as well
  17. ill be at conesus, my aunts camp is there so its like a cottage
  18. yeah im gonna start lining my reels next time I change lines...while on the topic of lines I supposed I could ask this, when using fluoro leaders do you guys have anything against tying directly to the main line as opposed to using a swivel? I just figured I could tie 80lbs fluoro to my 65lb braid with a an over hand knot and a single uni knot?
  19. no need to apologize thats a question i wonder myself...tiger where you going for the opener?
  20. ive never done this and was wondering if its a good idea but say when youre putting 65-80lbs braid on ur reel do you guys back it with mono first? if you do how much? and what knot do you used to connect the mono to the braid?
  21. now that I read it i might guess it was a case of mistaken identity?
  22. bring 'em back! hell put them in all of the finger lakes haha. canandaigua would be a nice esox lake plenty of alewives, suckers, perch, and trout for them to eat...although I doubt any of the trout fisherman would agree with that idea
