  1. will be launched by 530 fishing mostly the east side and maybe some north end casting...plan on casting early and then trying out some vertical jigging with some big muskie jigs ive been picking up want to see how that works out. if anyone else is going to be out let me know
  2. fished it for the first time last sunday. nice lake but there was absolutely ZERO weed growth anywhere on the lake due to the severe flooding. Water was pretty murky as well but for our first time out there we managed a high 20's inch pike and lost another big girl boat side had to have been 40 inches at least and got one pig of a 4-5 lbs bass which was a nice suprise. No sign of tigers but I have been hearing that most of them migrate into the rivers which probably makes them quite a pain to find.
  3. it was fun fishing, got pretty warm by 930 reminded me how im not looking forward to hot days and tons of boat traffic! all the fish came before 830 when there was still overcast
  4. all 3 northerns were about 35-38' and the tiger was a solid 37-39'....had another follow and swirve at the boat, probably the biggest fish I had ever seen in person it scared the s**t out of me thats what i get when I dont pay attention!
  5. got out this morning fished from 530 to about 10....3 pike and 1 tiger, 2nd tiger of the season. all released
  6. zach I PMed you back, shoot me a text so i have ur number again too I found out my phone may be waterproof but it is not laundry proof
  7. zach, very cool of you to post. ive always thought about trying to make my own bucktails and after seeing this I think im going to get some supplies and give it a try! very cool man, btw i need a baker bait or 3...

  10. check muskyshop.com, if youre a spoon fisher theyve got some nice big spoons. your hooks probably werent sharp enough most lures even brand new out of the box dont have sharp enough hooks for esox jaws.
  11. we fished 14 hours on opening day and then 7 the next day with 2 dink pike to show for it! A bunch of follows and 3 misses on the suckers we had out behind the boat. My excuse was that everything was behind due to the weather but with 11 in 3 days youve clearly disproved of my excuse haha. were you out deep or in shallow?
  12. nice tiger much better than ive been doing at conesus! those 1 oz spoons are much easier for them to inhale but also depending on how your fishing them they have a real erratic action making misses possible. when i fish spoons i rip the rod hard and have had a lot of swirls on spoons rather than actual hook ups. you could try what old man said and use the bigger versions of the daredevil so there is more for them to strike at or you could change the hooks out for a larger sized hook and bend the barbs back so that way theyre easier to remove. Or even use a weedless spoon like the silver minnow or the weedless poppa doc. if youre talking about the lake i think youre talking about me and my buddy are gonna plan a few trips down there within the next few weeks here!
  13. should be heading out again on tuesday ill let you know how i make out with that larry
  14. hopefully, looks like we have a front rolling in might be some tough fishing for a few days?
  15. surface temp in the shallower water was like 56....out in the main lake it was like 53 so I think its coming up a bit from this hot weather
  16. I got that 50lbs test for my pike rod and im just going to change it out for 50 or 65 lbs stealth or the camo line. I have the 80lbs power pro on my xh rod ive only used it a couple times but so far not bad. lesson learned no more white lines
  17. there have been some guys getting into the eyes that were at the launch
  18. went out wednesday may 11...fished from 6am-about 5pm with a break in between when the sun got real hot. not a thing! lost one on a sucker first thing in the morning and then didnt see anything else until I had a follow once some wind started to pick up around 1130. dont know where they are right now I figured theyd be in the shallow bays where the water is the warmest doing their post spawn thing but I was marking a lot of big fish out over deep water as much as 20-30ft down in about 30-40 fow idk if these were walleye or some of the big girls ive been looking for. does conesus have adequate O2 levels that deep down this early in the season?
  19. alright good bc I was going to pick up some camo braid and stealth. thanks nitro
  20. put 50lbs test on my curado and fished it 3 times...its already staind and fraying and the line has little kinks in it which causes it to stick together on the spool so when I go to cast it it catches like a birdsnest but its not nesting up....pretty pissed considering i paid good money for it and now i already have to change it out. are all the spider wire braids like this or can i feel confident i wont get ripped off if i put stealth or camo braid on there?
  21. make it 77 Captain Larry me and my buddy will be entering and trying it out even though neither of us have ever caught a pure or have any knowledge of Chautauqua! haha any pointers will help we're just doing it for the learning experience and the chance to pick all of your brains it will be fun either way though we're pumped
  22. ^haha way to stir the pot. im sure larry can chime in more on that question when he sees it but i would assume there would be quite the process in pushing back an open season date which would take much longer than saying "oh by the way seasons closed for another 2 weeks"
  23. well how did everyone do? like 18 hours of fishing between sat and sun and all we had to show for it was 2 little pike
  24. well this is all fantastic news....god d**ned weather
