  1. anyone interested shoot me a PM I sometimes forget to check back here. Not really expecting to make my money back just to get rid of it!
  2. 7'11 MH, Fast action, split grip handle, 3/4oz.-3oz. lure rating, 12-25 lbs test line. Bought it thinking it would make a good downsizing muskie rod but wasnt what i thought it would be-its ideal for bass. too late to return so my loss will be your gain paid 110.00 for the rod but will consider any reasonable offer. Here is a link to the rod: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Okuma_Gu ... GSBBR.html
  3. whered you see these tigers?? I may be heading down there tomorrow morning and my last 2 trips have not been successful by any means, water has been real murkey especially on the south end where the river runs through has it gotten any clearer or is still mud? last time i was down there i worked the north end in the little weeds that are there, all around the big island, the inlet channel, and some drops on the east side even went down into the river towards the reef but i have no idea how to fish that.
  4. haha the trailer difficulties just happened to happen when there were 15 boats in line waiting to get out too which made it interesting...who cares though those bassholes made us wait to launch so it was only fair that we made them wait to load im really glad i picked up some hook cutters bc pretty much every fish we caught needed them and if we didnt have them we probably would have been going to the ER with a 5/0 hook , a 9 inch newman, and a mid 30s pike all attached to chads finger haha
  5. got out with chad at about 5 15 started the day off with 2 pike and some tiger follows with another big pike lost boat side....rain came in and we got off the lake for a few minutes, waited for it to pass and then it was all over from there as chad proceeded to own me with his "secret lure" going 4 casts 4 pike and then 2 others shortly after with one pushing the 40' mark all released finished the day with 7 pike and 2 bass with 3 misses boat side 2 tiger follows and a 5/0 treble piercing in chads finger!
  6. that seems like a real tough lake to fish...our first time there it was great but the 2 times since its been real tough
  7. I cleaned the reel the night before and never cranked the drag back down so that was my bad...i gotta give you the credit it was your post on here that taught me to do it
  8. got out at 6 am this morning, felt like it would be a good day with the over cast and cooler temperatures within the first 1/2 hour I got a rip on one of my newly homemade bucktails and it felt like a nice esox-turned out to be a 6 lbs largemouth, wasnt what i was going for but it was a very nice bass and it was nice to get it on a homemade lure, lost another on a phantom jerk bait bc i forgot to check my drag and then missed another on a red october tube jigging in deeper water
  9. ive never fished that lake before and am still pretty new to muskie fishing in general so youll have to wait to see if zach (he makes a real nice shad bodied musky bait which a lot of people use down there) or nitro chime in with some pointers for you...i know they and a lot of other guys mentioned before they dont go as much there this time of the summer especially since the surface temps are so high (cross and conesus were low-mid 80s so im assuming waneta is right around there too) which can be fatally stressful on the fish. But night fishing might be the way to go there right now especially since its been so hot all summer but as far as C and R gear and trolling setups you can find a lot of articles and videos on thenextbite.com. a nice big game net-something that wont rub all their slime off, and a good pair of bolt cutters. Most of the guys on here use the same rods you probably do for salmon and trout fishing when they are trolling-something along the lines of a MH/H action 8-10'6 ft dipsey diver rod with either 25-40lbs mono or 65-100lbs super braid and a nice 3-5ft 80-130lbs fluorocarbon leader with heavy duty stay lock snaps.
  10. thats a massive pike pike hunter...after seeing that id be out there all season throwing my biggest muskie baits! A better view of the surroundings could make sense considering the water clarity at conesus was absolute s**t
  11. check out this absolute whale of a fish...I still cannot get over the girth on this thing! http://www.thenextbite.com/node/19879
  12. Went to conesus this past tuesday with not a rip all damn day...too hot and it looked like an algae bloom as you could barely see more than 3 feet through the water im about to give up until the water cools down a bit! But we did see a pretty good sized northern swimming around about 50 ft from the boat with its head out of water. He was just calmly swimming just under the surface with his entire head up to the gills out of water for a few minutes and this isnt the first time ive seen this ive seen numerous other pike and even a muskie when i was up north doing this. Anybody know why they do this? Ive heard its a stressed fish or ive also heard theyve just finished a big meal and are using the warmer surface temps to boost their metabolism but i thought id see if anyone knew why they do this?
  13. ^obviously, but if its dazed when you put him in and then he starts to come to and then starts beating his head against the wall is what I was saying
  14. that sounds like a good idea...the only thing is would most live wells might not be able to safely hold anything over 40-45' without it thrashing around and beating its head against the wall?
  15. Met Brad down there on sunday and got one foul hooked catfish and a sun tan thats about it...water was extremely murky not just by the river but all over the lake
  16. got out early this morning to beat the hot sun for a bit. figured it could be productive but i was wrong. Managed one 33' pike all morning. caught on south end using a big jig and paddle tail combo in purple black and silver. other than that not a single follow or anything else the rest of the morning
  17. idk about the bass if I ever get any theyre on accident but i fished the south yesterday and we had some luck with pike and tigers on larger spinnerbaits and bucktails in black and white and raised a bunch more with natural color swim baits in about 20-25 fow off of the steep drops
  18. well done, where did you see those tigers if you dont mind me asking? The last time we were there there was zero weed growth and the water line had just gone down from all the flooding we found pike but no tigers. Ive had a lot of people tell me they wander around a lot in there between the river and the lake
  19. there were police officers at the launches telling people to turn around they couldnt launch bc there were too many boats already on the lake. it was a zoo i expected it to be very busy but to say it was very busy would be an understatement
  20. my lund came with some hard plates that I just drill holes into for an inboard mount plate. im sure they arent exepensive at all check with your dealer to see what would work with that boat im sure its universal for all of the boats
  21. does ur tracker have the rail system to put the sliding plates on to drill rod holders onto?
  22. we got 2 decent pike and a nice tiger on the 3rd before it got crazy out there, that was the first time ive ever seen an entire lake closed due to being over capacity...we went out the next morning and lost a nice pike but raised several very large tigers. Got out for a bit yesterday and caught almost one of each species in that lake except for walleye it seemed! a nice 3lbs largemouth, 2 pike, and another tiger with once again a lot of follows from some really nice fish
