  1. how many charter captions are members of LOTAC or show up to the stream restoration, tree planting projects or river clean ups? ... Goes both ways and each side has good people working on the fishery
  2. not a specific reaction to die off but the overall stocking numbers are done based on their research and they have been rather stable so if they see that populations are down they will add to stocking.. so if fin clipping actually did decrease return numbers stocking would inevitably go up
  3. but in the long run all that gets accounted for... if there is a higher mortality rate they will raise stocking numbers... The DEC has done a fine job keeping the lake in check
  4. way way overboard... the steelhead fishery on lake Ontario is good and some even argue over populated
  5. hey im not judging anybody or blaming anybody
  6. maybe that flood really washed away a lot of the gravely areas that year
  7. we are talking about 1 year class here.. this hasnt been shown to be a reoccurring thing... the king fishing last few years has been incredible
  8. im with ya on this one
  9. sorry I didnt mean to single out charters.. I meant lake fishermen in general
  10. what year was the HUGE flood on the salmon river?
  11. But we always catch fish in less than 100 fow in late AUG. Odds are is for whatever reason it is a down year class and on top of that we had a very cold year The last 2-3 has produced many many very large kings
  12. think future brown and steelhead numbers will be impacted by the numbers of charters having to target them this year?
  13. There are a lot of guys fishing 60-100 for browns... if the salmon were stacked in tight we would have heard reports of those guys getting into kings heavy at some point
  14. Walk up the salmon river this year and do a short survey and ask.. I bet 95 percent of the respondents will have never heard of it and think all the foah come from the hatchery

  16. I think the traffic on this site represents a very very very very small portion of the total amount of people who fish Lake Ontario and even a smaller portion of the people who fish tributaries. They use other sites Also many people live nowhere near the lake so volunteering isnt much of an option
  17. truthfully I think very few people know about them
  18. yup... probably the most complete stock on the lake.... all seasons in pulaski too
