  7. Vogel, The lakers are fat and happy right now with all the bait. As a side not, not sure why the pictures loaded side ways?...
  8. Left the dock at 6am with my bother, dad and a good friend. We setup heading north and had a slow pick of decent lakers, and then the 300 copper took a big hit. As everyone put their heads down when I asked who wanted it, I decided to take the rod. I could feel some big head shakes right away and new we had a pretty decent fish. After a long battle we landed a 30.5 inch lake trout that came in just over 9lbs on the digital scale. This was a serious accomplishment as we have never landed a fish over 30. As soon as that fish was on board the deep rigger took a huge hit and the fight was on. After a long battle and several nice runs the fish was lost about 40 feet behind the boat, it was no doubt a 9-10lb class fish... We ended the day 9-11 on all lake trout. We spent Sunday installing a new HDS 7 to replace our older grey scale humminbird. After a little dialing in, I just got word from my brother that he landed a huge 31.5 laker jigging over deep water and attributes his success to the new finder. Overall, a pretty awesome weekend and I can't wait to spend some more time dialing in the HDS. All fish were landed from 100-150 FOW and anywhere from 20-90 feet down.
  9. Just to update everyone, I just purchased the HDS 7 G2.

  11. I took a few friends out for their first time trolling. We started the weekend trolling Saturday morning on east side at 5:30. As soon as i finished letting out the leadcore and put the rod in the holder, it took a nice shot and we landed a solid 20 inch rainbow. It was nice to see a rainbow since it's been a season since we've got one. Fishing was slow for the next hour with lots of fish on the screen and only a few takes with no one home. We quit around 7, to eat and pick up the late sleepers. After a while we headed out to the north end and went 1 for 3 on a nice 6lb 25 inch laker. Sunday was a different story, I woke up at 5:15 to serious thunder and lighting and decided to go back to sleep. By 7 the skies had mostly cleared and the lake settled down nicely. We set up in 50FOW after seeing an awesome screen but had no action for 2 hours until we made our way out to 150 FOW. The 3 color core took a massive hit and the planer board disappeared. After a long battle with some big runs, I landed a new personal best rainbow. The fish measured 25 inches and weighed just over 7lbs on the digital scale. I'm holding the big rainbow but seem to make most fish look small at 6'5''...
  12. Anyone have experience mounting thru-hull transducers on aluminum boats?
  13. I let the fish tell me, but generally 5-15 feet for finger lakes trout.
