  1. Joe, I couldnt agree more. Anyplace that is stocked needs a harvest. Tim and I participate in the angler diaries so the dec is aware of exactly how many we catch. The dec needs to know how good it is and that we utilize the fishery or they will cease to stock. Otisco should be a model of success, as it truly is a spectacular fishery. There is no shortage of huge fish. The lake gets a bad rap because the fish are hard to catch as bait is insanely abundant. With hard work and attention to detail the walleyes CAN be caught in numbers. Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. I blame TIM! lol Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Thanks guys. My family eats fish and game for most of our diet and we prefer it that way. The 20 lbs of fillets will not be the last we keep this year either! We are all sportsman for our own reasons, so lets promote fishing not argue. Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Nice fish! Congrats...the eyes must be in by now too? Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. I knew that was coming....I dont catch em under 21 and the limit is only 3...I fish very hard and they were half males...they stock the lake yearly...this subject is a personal choice...and there is nothing wrong with the taste of big walleyes...if I didnt like the taste id put them back...there is no shortage of walleyes in otisco. I do practice conservation, and harvest only my legal limit of mature walleyes and whitetails, and eat anything I keep. Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. We cast and troll...its like bass fishing in the dark...causeway and rip rap are ok from shore ive heard...I like a boat and electric trolling motor... Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Just so we are clear....TIM YOU'RE THE MAN!! Thanks for the text! Sharing info works! Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Got a hot tip from rnsurfnturf, thanks tim, and Tracy, Cody, and I headed up to the lake. To say we hit it perfect would be an understatement. We casted large sticks, and the f18s and a Diawa sp minnow did the work. Ended up just over 50 lbs in 9 fish, including a 9+ and 3 7's. Biggest was almost 28 with a 15 inch girth. Caught a bonus 22" largemouth and culled one eye. Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. I saw 1 last july there and it was pretty cool. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Joe, Try lemon pesto walleye over your rice. Just add lemon juice and pesto...i like a little extra sauce. Justin
  11. I always figured that a boga used correctly would be handy, but because I didnt know if it would cause damage to the fish I opted for using gloves. I guess ive seen too many pics of pike and muskies hanging from a boga. Wish more fisherman would do their homework. Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Pap,I agree Les has a beautiful rig!! Even nicer in person! Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Ditto Les! My go to brand is RAPALA! TDD'S, SR'S, HJ'S, MR'S, and XRAPS! I should say im biased as im sponsored by them, and Reef Runners are a close second. Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. I bought lots of baits that size and a few larger and have never gotten a thing. Im a big bait guy by nature but if I had to catch a tiger at otisco id run smaller stuff. I will say I basically focus on deeper water and stay outside the weedline. Fall is also not good for me on tigers, but ive slowed for walleye. Summer when its super hot is by far the best, but then its VERY tough to get a safe release. Challenging and rewarding is how id describe Otisco. 15. Pretty fish Les and great report! Still gotta get together one of these days again. Tough now with walleye getting ready to start again and bow season, but spring for sure. When we start getting eyes casting you should come give it a try! justin
  16. I fish smaller water but the issues are the same, and my policy is to yield to the other trollers. I fish much more than most and have no problem catching my walleyes and tigers so i yield. I try to take the inside deeper water and have gotten pinched a few times but have chosen to drag bottom over conflict figuring the other guy needs all the help he can get and Ill get my fish either way. Its the pleasure boaters and bass fisherman going 80 that chap my rear! A walleye troller at Tupper Lake I met was actually hit by a bass boat at high speed. Boating should be about respect, patience, and safety. Remember its supposed to be fun. If I had a real problem I would have a conversation at the dock for sure. Justin
  17. Ryan, Ive run big bait programs many times at Otisco and have never had any luck. Every tiger we catch is on large walleye sized cranks or mepps bucktail spinners, and not the big ones. 9-11 cm is the ticket. justin
  18. If you want big walleyes without big water check out Otisco lake. Check out my posts and pics. Oneida is the place for numbers, but otisco is a trophy fishery that is only 6 miles long. justin
  19. My condolences and good luck with the auction. justin
  20. Welcome to LOU! Im on Otisco just 6 miles east of Skaneatles, and we have excellent bass, walleye, and trophy tiger muskies, and few nice browns. Check out my posts and pics the proof is in the pudding. justin
  21. Great report Les! Isnt it rewarding solo...I always enjoy company, but success fishing solo is awesome especially in the early morn drinking coffee watching the sun climb alone with your thoughts! justin
  22. Ive had walleye sushi...excellent! I take alot of care filleting to ensure that the fillets clean, not exposed to bacteria (no guts, clean knife, clean cutting board etc.), and cool the fillets fast. justin
  23. Here is a 3.5 and a 4.5. I key in on the roman nose and grey face as mentioned above and the body/neck not horns. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
