  1. Pap, There are 2 2 bedroom cabins with kitchens and a bath and 4 1 room cabins both sleep 4 no prob. No motor restrictions and its alot like fall in that its more of a night bite and casting can be awesome, but VERY spot specific. I only fish daytime with tracy so its slow, but the walleye in my profile pic is a may daytime 9 pounder. I did ok evenings and early morn, but if I have guys up nighttime is better. I sent you a PM as to the exact weekend you want. justin
  2. I have a good relationship with ryfuns (campground) and keep my boat on their personal dock, and stay there all summer. That being said I get my gas at the marina and enjoy talking fishing with the guys there and have no problems there either. In my opinion Ryfuns have a better launch, better parking, bathrooms, showers, allow fish cleaning, and have a store, and most importantly a safer area to launch as the marina is way to close to the road. As far as run time goes my boat only goes 9 mph and i can have lines in less than 10 minutes from pulling away from the dock. Either place treats me very well, and I have to say the marina stayed open late for me twice so I could get gas and last year the water was so low we had to use the marina. 1 final consideration is the causeway, some people arent comfortable going thru even though is plenty wide and thanks to captain eyes it has lit bouys. justin
  3. The transition period from summer to fall has been tough for us, but we just gotta work at it. Thanks for the report and stay after em itll get better...i hope!! justin
  4. Jeff, I was out a couple nights ago and tim and i had our first skunk together and basically my first one when i was really fishing for eyes since june. Fall pattern is different for me, and as you mentioned its a night bite. Gold clown is my favorite for fall and the fish are all over the place from shore to 35 feet. It will turn on and end up a VERY productive time, but its a tough wait between summer and fall. I much prefer the summer bite as its a guarantee ill catch fish, like going to a fish market. Tim and i call it the otisco lake grocery. You can actually catch more in the fall but id rather fish in the light. I havent done the tally but I think my boat passed the 100 walleye mark, and our biggest eyes were 27-28.75 inches and weighed between 7-9 pounds and i think the biggest was 9.5 lbs. Never landed an eye on a spoon all season, but by the time we compared notes the summer pattern was about over. Ill fish some till november, then im completely rebuilding the boat. 2 more cannons, temp probe, rocket launcher, custom hard top, casting deck, rod locker, all new railings etc, and NO more carpet! Next year jeff, you, tim, and I will put it all into 1 summer program combining our programs. Anybody wanna go today/tonight? justin
  5. Kevin, Same thing happened to me and i lost a great lease and had to sell my land when the deer herd crashed in that area. I hunted very little after that, but my son got into it and i found a great farm and havent looked back. The farm i hunt has serious crops and damage so its been great. I grew up with several farm ponds and never could aquire a taste for waterfowl. I have friends with a huge private swamp along the black river near our adirondack house and loved shooting ducks, but as i got older i found it tough to kill and not eat the kill. So now its walleyes n whitetails! If we get good late snow we have phenomenal muzzleloader hunting in heated blinds with comfy chairs, and we cant eat more than 10 or so we quit way before then. Ill keep you in mind as we try to thin as many does as possible. Our best year was 44...i take all our friends and family as we cant kill enough, but we ONLY allow does, and mature bucks. I HOPE to offer working man's hunts as soon as next year. Hunting should be more affordable if we want to pass along our heritage, and land is hard to find. Ill be taking my guide exam next month. Then i need to build a new cabin as our camp is modest at best! Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. Its not 70 anymore its 80! Bass fishing is the number 1 freshwater pursuit in america so get used to it! I see 2 club tournaments a week on otisco and its tough on the lake. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Les, Figuring out what to fish for thats easy! Walleyes of course! Lol. Cant wait till dinner so i can eat last nights filet. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Fall is a crazy time for me too. I slowed on my fishing to get ready for archery season, but now im ready for both. Ive got 4-5 shooters patterned for evenings just need the wind to cooperate and the deer left alone and next tuesday ill be eating venison! Watched 12 bucks on tuesday and ive barely slept since. Just gotta get the house ready for winter and clean the garage out today and nothing but whitetails and walleyes till december! Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. I made it out today and got up there early enough that i hoped for a bonus tiger for my buddy jerry as he's never caught one, but just walleyes for us. I dont catch near as many tigers in the fall as i have to slow down for the eyes when the water temps drop, and i cant not fish for eyes!! 10. Got out with my buddy jerry about 6 and had a tough night landing fish. Had 2 misses 2 dropped at the boat and 1 nice 25 incher. Both drops were at least as big. Hits were spread out on riggers and boards with rapalas and reef runners. I ran half summer perch pattern rapalas and half fall gold clown reef runners. Fish stayed deep most between 28 to 35 temp was 65. Wont be long now and its gonna be on! Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Good job kevin! Been quiet lately. Hows the grandson. Glad you got out on such a nice evening. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Nice fish Tim! Thought we had a slammer walleye Saturday, but turned out to be big cat. Justin
  13. Phone died saturday. We made 1 pass around 6 and got 2 catfish 1 that was about 8 lbs and 1 22“ walleye. We made 1 more pass about 8 and fish moved up and closer to shore, and we were too tired to pursue them. I had a great time with cody just hanging out all day from the salmon river to otisco. Sammyslayer We catch tons of small browns to 17 inches, but dont target them. In the spring i lost a big brown and saw a 10 lber caught that same weekend. 14. The bass bite seems non existent so far but ill stick it out with my son till walleye time! Its not too nice. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. Just got up to the lake. We went to salmon river this morning early and it was slow so my son and i headed here. Gonna do some bass fishing first then troll. Cloudy and chop maybe we'll troll out. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. The presentation is different too as well as very slow. The stern of the boat hitting into the waves/chop gives an almost stop and go presentation which gives the bait a rise steady and fall slowly look. Ive read about backtrolling faster too...ive never done it as i have a pontoon and can dial my speed in fine and doubt it's a technique thats would work well with my setup, and im not a bait guy too often. 17. Thanks for the update. I tried the spoon you gave me and bought a couple, but no eyes yet. Ill be out fri night and saturday. Ill start with a deep program 22 - 32. Once it gets dark you are gonna have to move in and up. Im gonna try and fish in as tight as i dare and start real shallow on the outside rod and near the thermoclime on the inner ones as soon as it gets dark. Anyone coming out let me know if you have a radio. Its just getting started at night. Justin Sent from my N9500 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  19. Chris Ill keep the boat in till Halloween. Last year the first 2 weeks of September the lake flipped and was tough fishing much like the end of june was. This year seams about the same to me. The week after the 15th, my birthday, last year it turned on and we had 5-6 fish catches. Last year we couldn't catch on perch rapalas in fall at all, but the reef runners were on fire. As far as sizes go we seem to catch from 22-28 inch fish but usually they will all be 22-24 or all 24 and up. Pap keep in mind the walleyes live on the tigers too! Last year I put a quite a few under 24 inches back, but now that the whole family is really into eating walleye I haven't put 1 legal fish back all season. My freezer only has 1 package of walleye in it. If we get into them this fall like last year Id like to have a freezer full. Family threw me a nice party yesterday and everybody said they would like more walleyes. I cannot catch them fast enough. I wish I could give away the river eyes, but my family is fussy about water quality. Any of you regular posters and members feel free to pm me if you want to give it a try on my boat or your own. This weekend made 50 trips out on Otisco and gotta be close to 100 walleyes. Tim I think we beter get caught up on the angler diaries here pretty soon. Once deer season starts it will be harvest mode. On a sad note my coyote hound Lil escaped and was hit and killed Thursday night. We miss her terribly. justin
  20. Ive run them enough that I cant believe ive never had a hit. Ive given up on them till fall and the walleyes start feeding and its less of a reaction bite. I know other guys have had luck with them. Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  22. I met Tim and Steve at 6pm and we had lines in the water before 7 and first walleye was at 715. 23" on tdd11. Ran 2 spoons that Miss em has been running all evening and got 1 brown and a white perch. Then picked up a 22" bout 930 and that was it for us. Had 1 miss that was really quite a shot...split my tdd9 tail section. Ill post the pics from my phone. justin
  23. Single strand wire mainline. It sinks and diving lures will acheive greater depths with the same setback as it "slices" thru the water. There is a bow up in your line as it goes back to your lure, as the water is pushing up on your line while the lure is pulling down to dive. If you can use thinner line lures dive deeper. 24. Gander IM8 6'6" medium fast and medium extra fast both with 10lb powerpro on stradics. I use 6 or 8 lb seaguar tied with no barrel, and have spools with just flouro too. These are for 1/2 ounce to 1/8 ounce. I just cant get used to the barrel swivel with spinning tackle. I use a 9' lite moderate st Croix with 8lb powerpro and 6lb seaguar for 1/32 to 1/8. If im trolling or using heavy tackle I like the barrel swivels. I jig up to 6 oz bucktails for stripers and always use them there. Justin
  25. If you plan on running with diving cranks and or clip weights instead of dipsys I would go lighter on the braid. Line diameter really affects diving depth. Im gonna go to a 4 or 6 lb diameter 15-20 lb test to run off big boards. If anybody new to this wants a crash course in trolling walleyes pm me...the precision tolling book explains a lot and I have one that you can look at. I have no where near the experience of other guys here at LOU, but I catch a few and ill share what I know. Justin Sent from my SPH-L710 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
