  1. 8 for us on a good day. 2 riggers off the corners and 6 off the big boards. If the weather is too windy we may scale it back to 2 off of each board and both riggers. We have a smallish 23' boat...
  2. Great post, I was thinking about trying short copper myself in the spring for browns once we head offthe shoreline a bit... we will see what happens!
  3. Sticking with the cutbait theme, Isee that there are many choices for "Meatheads" for herring strips. What are some favorites and why? Any info or opinionswould be appreciated. Thanks. Randy Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Jeez... Now I'm going to have to clear off my reloading bench and set up the fly tying table and stuff...
  5. Perfect! Thanks Tim. I thought we were a bit shorter than we needed to be. Great thread Les. Randy
  6. We messed around with meat rigs a few times during August this year on lake O. It was deadly for a day, then not so much. After reading this thread, I have picked up some things we did right and wrong. I thank you all very much. Now... One thing we did was use a "standard" 36" leader behind an 11" flasher. I know everyone says try everything, but can we get some recommendations on what leader lengths work? Any more info on this would be much appreciated. Barndog
  7. Sure sounds like fun! Thanks for the report, Mr. Clean. I'll come give it a try next year.. Barndog
  8. Yeah, we helped Doug and Ray cover TimeFlys... Talked to them for a bit afterwards. Nice guys. You will definately meet us next year. Jerry bought the camp on the end... See u next spring! Lol!
  9. Well.... Rode the roller coaster all day and fished 110-180 fow. Had good bait and lots of follows. Dropped a good one and had one hit and run. Humbled. Still a good day and looking forward to next year! Barndog
  10. What's the good word, Mr Clean? Anything hitting out there? Headed up Friday night... Barndog
  11. Yeah, thats pretty much what I thought. Guess we will take a quick peek inside then out if theres no action until we find something to move the rods. Appreciate the reply Charley! Barndog
  12. Headed out to fish one last time if weather allows this weekend before we pull the boat. We have not been out in 3weeks or so and never fished this late so I have a few questions.... Is fishing for kings in shallower still worth the time, or should we just head out to and try our luck for steelies/smaller salmon and such? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! I would be nice to have one more good day on the water... Thanks to all in advance. Barndog
  13. Thanks for the info Mr Clean. Be up next weekend if the weather is not crazy bad. Should be able to whack some cohos and rainbows. Maybe we will try the hole if its not too crowded. Might pull the old girl out after that Jerry may be there this weekend to give it a whirl. Barndog
  14. Dreamweaver and Stinger SeaSick Wabbler in Stingray and Mag size this year because it consistently caught kings for us throughout the summer off the riggers and behind the dipseys.
  15. Thanks Bazooka Joe. We put in a lot of time and worked hard at it. Once the local charter captains at the marina saw us around a lot, they would talk with us and that was good stuff. We thank them also.
  16. Nope. Not gonna pull it for a week or two. Jerry may come out this weekend. Last year we fished the end of august almost up to the end of september. We did well on the cohos then and had the lake to ourselves most of the time. I am done for the year myself.😢 Cannot wait for next year and do it all over again! Thanks for ur Fairhaven thread also, Mr Clean! More successes...
  17. Well... We on the B.A.R.None started our season this year in May by docking the boat at Bayside for the season. Our intention was to fish as much as possible with a core of three guys splitting costs. which we did. Gear needed to be updated and new gear purchased. I searched a lot of threads and read up and got information which led to some great choices being made. Thank You LOU members. Spring fishing for browns was crazy but productive at first until the water went clear and then the transition period and June was upon us. Fishing was very good for lakers then but we are not fond of them and struggled to get on the salmon and steelies. At first. After reading the posts and threads and getting caught up on a few techniques (Sliders, Fixed sliders, 300 copper) and heading more offshore we started to connect with some quality fish on a consistent basis. Thank You LOU members. Then we started picking away at the salmon and steelies in July and August and had to have the "hot" flasher fly combos suggested on this site. And they worked! We dont listen to the radio chatter much, so reading the posts by members each week helped us have a battle plan for the weekend and certainly helped our success rate. Thank You LOU members. See you next year! A few of our "successes"
  18. I have also enjoyed the reports and the videos. Thanks again for sharing and catch you next year!
  19. Went out Labor Day morning for a few hours early. it was slow inside so we trolled out to 200fow and took a major on dipsey 200 out on hammertime sd w green glow atomic. then headed in. Some pics from this weekend. It could not have been better...
  20. Didnt realize how great a day we had until we got to fish cleaning station and talked to the other guys... We didn't mark much either but had good temp and bait east out of the chute. And we picked up the speed faster than we usually troll. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and again....
