  1. Down in South Central Ohio hunting public land this week. I was able to score on this guy last night. I was sitting above a swamp that had lots of buck sign. After a little grunting and rattling he came trotting in. It was my first kill out of the saddle. That thing is awesome for this run and gun style of hunting. I'll be back chasing NY bucks this weekend. Congratulations to those of you that have scored and good luck to those in the chase. I love this time of year!

Now I'm camp cook for the rest of the week. Tonight's feature is smoked brisket.60167.thumb.jpeg.df9e3865b7dff5b36d445af2e447a649.jpeg60163.thumb.jpeg.5ac5c053741cc3fb6400d6e4d6612282.jpeg60179.thumb.jpeg.646eb5046ecffac3ecbfecffe3072a3c.jpeg20201026_154521.thumb.jpeg.2acb520a3240d4655d9f7c2912106f39.jpeg

  2. Your kid talks some mean turkey!

Today was not the day. Didn't even see a buck. Honestly, the past two seasons at our property near Northampton Park have been a drastic change from the first three or four. Many less deer overall, doe numbers are way down, and I don't know why. Food source? Local farmer with nuisance permits? Construction on Rt 31? All night lights on the corner (it's like an airport over there)? My dog tearing the place up once in a while during the summer months? Or maybe increased coyote numbers? Cameras don't lie. And neither do multiple sits with no sightings. Whatever is going on, the place has rotted the past two seasons. We've put a lot of work into it, just to have a nice place to sit in the woods.

It’s all the old spice you wear out there...

  3. I agree with all of the posts about the general lack of movement yesterday. We saw deer in the evening, but nothing rutty. My prediction - like lots of folks - was that this would be THE week. It's still possible, but if so then all he$$ needs to break loose fast. Maybe today is the day.

Camera activity was great all night in 8r and this morning has not been a disappointment, 4 doe being chased by a 4 and a decent 8 rutted up grunting the whole time good to see !! It’s always a tad earlier in the southern tier..36 degrees here at dawn . good luck to all

Well exciting evening in 8R ,,, two doe and a 4 point would be all I saw in the morning through 1 ish. Had to go down hill back to camp to take the kids to the pool.... back in the stand at 2 pm, one 6 point at 5:30 ten yards down wind no clue I was there then at 5:40 I see rack coming from the thicket 50 yards ,makes a bee line straight to my mock scrape which he hits for 5 minutes plus at 35 yards he was straight on all I had was neck and front shoulder then after knowing I played the wrong stand with the wind , was confident in my scent control..... well that didn’t work he got a sniff and jumped just 5 yards and no shot then walked off ... this guy is 2 on my list ... SPYPOINT got it all on camera note the hole in the pine direction he’s looking is me ... great day to be alive back at it sun. IMG_6250.JPG IMG_6247.JPGIMG_6248.JPGIMG_6249.JPG

  6. Food plot in the backyard has been fun to watch. Flat heads and young bucks so far but after the rut, when it’s freezing and snows flying, I bet we see some big guys. IMG_1661.thumb.JPG.fce1cdd95e02084bd3dbdbc21f49c5ea.JPG

  7. We have 13. Of them running right now. A few have done. The same thing you guys have mentioned. 2 we cant get working. But the other ones we put on the extended antenna (used the actual spypoint one and the knockoff and they work the same) and they have been working great! definitely made a big difference. Set up one cell link to try with a wildgame cam that takes pretty nice pics. And that thing works awesome. Had to adjust it to get signal but once it got in the right spot it works great amd sends lots of pics. 30928.thumb.jpeg.312617bd495ebb43e64876673cbc81e8.jpeg

  8. I agree with you Brian, Cash is king and so is Cuomo, as for me just being here is everything, if I get one great, bonus!! I’ve hunted one place for 43 years. This camp is my sanctuary. I’m all for an extension on our season. I feel it’s too short, I’m here in 8r now got in tree at 0625 at 0630 I had a giant at ten yards I could barely see , nothing like it .... beats a hospital bed.

  11. Great stuff Tom. It’s going to be awesome.
    Something different about this year.
With all the nonsense in the world today
Sitting in a tree stand with my bow sounds pretty cool.

  13. Feast or famine. It’s why we love it and it’s why we hate it sometimes.
I was supposed to do two hunts yesterday and bailed at ten. Was a good year for me but it was time for it to be over.
Rob are you still doing Ohio?
    For me it’s coyote time!
