Duck hunted from 1-430 tonight packing things up and 40 yards away a decent buck was standing looking at me

I’ve had this pic since opening morning Of gun.. a lot locals already know about it and know the guy but it’s not my deer I cut his face off cause Idk how he would feel if I posted it. .. so from what I heard it scored around 197 and 6 1/2 years old Shot in the finger lakes region, I know the guy and the farmers field it was shot on haven’t seen him to ask the full story but can’t wait to hear it. From the sounds of it he never seen it till opening day

Ended up getting the buck I was after! Walked in the woods at 230 and he was standing with does, nice quite walk in never seen me

Pretty clean shooting so far maybe heard 5-6 shots? Definitely not as many as years past... maybe temps to cold for people?

The 2019 bow season break down for me in the finger lakes, never really hunted till October 20th mostly all after noon hunts, never really had great buck sign, lack of tree rubs and ground scrapes. hunted over stand corn for a week with no mature deer around, last couple days of October did see a 8 and 9 pointer in bedding area with no does around.. first couple weeks of November I found some mature does that were feeding on the regular in winter wheats started seeing more bucks and should of capitalized on them, bucks were/ and still curious of rattling, I enjoy bow more then gun hunting but we’ll see what happens in the regular season! Still have one last afternoon sit tonight try to make something happen!

Shot under this guy last night.. the only range I took from the stand was a dirt pile at 40 yards.. where did the deer come out? On the dirt pile second guessed myself cause the deer looked closer..35 yard pin and a clean miss

Was gonna hunt the state land earlier today I seen the two bucks on.. let my dog out and she got sprayed right in the face by a skunk, spent the morning airing the house out...

Kayaked into state land earlier to try to surprise deer from the backside.. seen 2 shooters 1 probably 120 8pointer 60 yards and the other a taller rack 130- 9pointer 70 yards both were walking down wind of the thick brush/ bedding looking for does didn’t care about the grunt call

And the deer love them

I run wild game innovations I bought at Walmart for $50 on public land and they work just as good as 75-$100 ones I have on private land

Found some teals last night.. luckily the land owner was super cool and let us get back in his swamp this morning .. 530 I’m walking towards the swamp and With no light just enough water to cover the ground.. next step i fall into a sinkhole up to my chest..The stuff we do for ducks! 3 man limit all teals birds quit flying at 10
