8/12/26,,, not 8/11/26

Forecast was “light and variable”. It was not. Launched at 6am. Stiff NW breeze that made swells made the going slow. Stopped in 100fow, ran probe down to 90’ and water temp was 73! Out at 150fow down 90 found 49deg water. We boated 4kings and one steelhead. All fish were 90-100’ down and between 150fow and 175fow. Around 10:30 the breeze died down and it started to get pretty nice, but that was too late for my stomach. No fleas, no flies, no weeds, caught fish, few boats, great day on the water.

Fished from 7am until 1pm today. Recent reports were spot on. We started in 200fow, stopped briefly in 150, ran the probe down and saw 60deg water. Out at 200 and down 100 temp was 50, down 120 was 48. We set up and trolled north. 300-400fow and down 110’-95’ was our best water. Boated 5 kings with biggest 20lbs and smallest was 10lbs. Lost at least 6 others. Didn’t lose any tackle!!! No fleas and the nice breeze kept the flies away. 13 year old granddaughter on boat has sore arms. Perfect day on the water.

Sodus 7/8 It's always Something
Fjaq replied to Salty Nut's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
We were there on 7/8/26 also and you are spot on about the fleas. The worst we’ve seen in a long time. Our best water was between 350 and 500 fow and 60’ down. Water temp down 60 was 51deg. We had a hard time keeping them on the hook. Ended up with a 10lb, 18lb, and two 1pounders in the boat. Several other kings along with a couple steelheads threw the hook. We launched at 5:45am with three boat trailers in the parking lot. We pulled out at 1:30 and there was not enough room in the parking lot to park a motorcycle. I have never seen so many boats in the bay. Great day on the water. -

Hmmmmm??? a couple days ago there was a reply to “Shug” stating that the fish hawk was still available and text to a phone number. today another post on this topic stating that the phone number was a scam. THEN all of a sudden the post with the phone number disappeared AND THEN almost immediately the post pointing out the scam disappeared???? -
Launched at 5:45am out at 1pm. Best was a 10lb king down 90’ over 130fow. Lost 2 fish off the boards with 10 color lead core. Landed a dink off the boards. Lastly landed a 5lb laker off the riggers. Green spoons seemed best. Water temp down 90 was 44.5 deg. Saw only 5 other boats on the lake. Never got deeper than 150fow. Saw many marks on the screen and many took a good look at our baits but then turned away. Absolute beautiful day on the water.

Launched next to the Coast Guard Station at 6:30am, pulled out at 12:45pm. One trailer in lot when we launched, 5 trailers in lot when we pulled out. Turned west out of the inlet, very brown water so we set up right away. First brown came in about 15 minutes of trolling. Picked up 14 browns total along with 2 twelve inch salmon. Stayed in 10’ to 20fow. Everything came on boards with rapalas. No hits on riggers with spoons. Best rapala of the day was a J7 in black over silver. Biggest fish was about 5lbs. Water temp stayed around 40.6 but did see 41deg at one point. Early the breeze was SW but swung around to SE around 11am. That SE breeze stirred up the water and was cold. Great day on the water. Anyone know what they are doing on the east side of the inlet with the crane and rock? I have used otter boats for the past 4 years. I always hated the way they would often “go dead” during a small turn. I recently moved the tow line attach point further aft on the board. Pulls tighter and does not tend to “die” as much.

If you want to sell one of the probes, let me know. Thanks. -
Could not get any info on Sodus ice/launch status so I made the 2.5 hour ride to see for myself. The launch next to the old Arnie’s Marina, which is called Harriman Park is ice, free and deep enough to launch. The parking lot looks good, although there are some patches of ice. Also a new sign posted next to the dock. The launch over by the Coast Guard station is same thing ice free deep enough to launch, and the parking lot has icy patches

Sold / Closed Amish Outfitter Boards, Flags, Shock Cords, and 500lb Tow Line
Fjaq posted a topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
I have a (as close as you can get to new) set of Amish Outfitter Planer Boards for sale. Plastic (collapsable) boards, flags, shock cords, and two spools of 500lb test planer board tow line (200’ per spool). I used these boards one time on Cayuga. They track very well with much of the board beneath the water. They pull hard and keep that tow line tight which keeps the board more off to the side of your boat and not lagging further back, the tight tow line makes sliding your releases down the line easier and when a fish hits there is a faster release from the release. The boards collapse making storage much easier. Hooking up lines to the releases is a little too tough for me and my wife (best first mate ever) was not thrilled. My 70 year old hands don’t work like they used to and that tight tow line makes it difficult. 20 years ago it would have not been an issue. I paid $294 for the boards including shipping and tax. I will bite the bullet and take $200 if anyone is interested. I’d rather not ship. I live near Troy PA. I travel often due to my part time job of transporting cars for a car dealership. Trips to Albany NY, Syracuse NY, Cleveland OH, Newark NJ, Baltimore MD, and Pittsburgh PA are made somewhat often. I fish Cayuga, Sodus, The Oak, and sometime Oswego. if you are interested give me a shout. -
Cayuga Treman and Taughannock launches 3/10/26
Fjaq replied to Fjaq's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
21”, 19”, and 15”. The 19 and 15 caught right in front of the Taughannock cove,,, on the same lure,,,,AT THE SAME TIME!! -
FYI, Launches at Treman and Taughannock are ice free and usable. Launched out of Treman this morning 3/10/26 with a StarCraft 196 and had no issues due to depth. While trolling saw other boats coming out of Taughannock. Not a stellar day but we did get 3 nice LL to the boat. A little breezy (16mph ENE according to Myers point anemometer) between 8:30am - 10am. Flattened out around 11am. Highest surface temp was 37.8 deg. All 3 LL on divers off boards. Another great day on the water. Also, I recently bought a pair of Amish Outfitter Planer Boards. Used them for the first time today. They pull too hard for my liking. I am going back to my Otter Boats. I will post them in classified soon. Boards, shock cords, and 2 spools of 500lb planer tow line, 200’ each spool. I paid $294 for the package with shipping and tax. I’ll give somebody a great deal if interested. Just like new, once in the water. Lastly, I have been unable to find out if the launch (next to the Coast Guard Station) at Sodus is ice free. Anybody know?

Thanks for the info. Perhaps with the warmer temps and the SW winds the past few days some of the ice will break up. If anyone has an update please let us know. Tuesday 3/10/26 looks like a nice day to fish out of Sodus.

Anyone been by Sodus Bay within the last few days? I’m wondering if ice is still blocking launch next to Coast Guard station. thanks for any info.

Water level is low but passable. Had to keep the planer mast and poles down of course. I think the water depth under the bridge was over 3’.
-
Launched out of Taughannock at 9am. Did not actually count the number of boat trailers in the lot but I would guess no fewer than 12. I think mostly duck hunters, lots of shooting until about 11am and never saw another boat trolling. trolled south along the east shoreline. Best water was 150fow. Surface temperature 41deg, down 100 was 39.5deg. Picked up about a dozen lakers, most in the 2-3lb range with one around 6lbs. One LL off the boards (10”) Lost one brown. Lakers came on boards (deep divers) and riggers. Orange was the color for us today. absolutely gorgeous day on the water today, sunny all day, calm wind, few weeds, only ice chunks were down near the south end.

Sodus Reports?
Fjaq replied to Salty Nut's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Fished Sodus today, 8/4/25. Launched at 5:30am, out at 11:30am. Those rollers out of the NW got the best of me. Most action for us was 125-175fow. Temp down 80’ was 45deg. Picked up 4 cohos, one of them about 4lbs, and 1 eleven pound king. Purple spoons was our best bait. If anyone catches a fish with a purple spoon, black dots, and chartreuse back,,, it’s mine. Only saw 3 other boats out. Wanted to stay longer but I started to turn green. -
