  1. Good question. I run SD/ FLY, flasher/spoons, PADDLE/meat. Got a fish hawk this spring and I notice no increase in my success. Hard to know if the right speed for one combination is killing the other ones. This is something that I've never seen discussed. I mean, if you run 2.7 that may be good for FF, but wrong for meat. I have no idea. I just try to stay between 2.4 and 2.7. but even the fish hawk probe setting can be "calibrated' changed, so I guess it is just a reference. 3. I got some from them last week and tied up some flies. I used 4 inch for primary color and the 2 inch for underlying colors. I think the 2 inch is too short and I wish I would have gotten all 4 inch and used 4 inch for both primary and secondary color. Also, should I make some with how ( for early morning or overcast?) And some with UV for later in day, bright days??? Thanks. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. thanks. I went east of harbor at 4 pm. Fished two hours, It got rough as heck! 4 to 5 footers coming back from the smoke stack. Nothing for me. Saw nothing on the screen. 100-280 FOW.

  10. I attached a Yakima spinner to my DR ball last time out. It was very rough so as usual I didn't catch anything that day but I will continue to try it. I have been reading about connecting a dummy flasher to the Dr ball as an added attracter. Has anyone on the LOU tried this? A wiggle swarm flasher can also be used, and they have videos. 11. interesting. Maybe the solar panel is the way to go. I did find my 9.9 has a charging system after all. But I don't think it is putting out. Voltage does not seem to change much with or without the motor running. .

  14. Ok great news for those who need cheap Auto pilot. Today, June 24 in 3 to 5 foot waves the Auto pilot worked great. Now there was an occasion when I could not turn 360 to head back the other direction, but It worked great with the wind and against the wind and even quartering. 15. It appears we are looking for an alternative to the high cost of herring. Bought six tiny fillets yesterday for $10. Now I am at Tulley's and just ordered a haddock dinner for $10. Som- ting- Wong! Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Like today June 24. 4 to 5 footers. The raymarine St 1000 Auto pilot worked great, thank God. Marked lots of bait and fish, but no luck. Ran my stuff though them, above them, below them. Fish hawk said my speed was good. Perplexed. I never catch much when it is rough, let's say 3 feet and higher. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I went towards the smokestack. 90 to 100 feet down the hawk said temp was still 52. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. 4 to 5 footers. Buddy got sick almost immediately. Had to run him home all the way back to Clarence. So much for the 0530 start. Poor guy. I went back out. Lots of bait and fish 50 to 100 feet down. I was in 125 to 200 fow. Had one and list it. That's all . Could not make them bite. Fished 0930 to noon by the time I got back and re launched. I never catch anything when it is rough. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. I went today. June 24. Lake was rough. 4 to 5 footers. Saw lots of bait 50 to 100 feet down, in 125 to 220 fow. Marked quite a few fish too. Could not catch them. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  21. Ok confused. I thought the roemer was attached to the fishing line, and they slide down the thing until they hit the end of the line, likely a flasher or paddle. Are you connecting them to the downriggwr cable instead? Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. You better learn to work the system (wife) to acquire what everyone says you need. I have been trying to since I took up Salmon fishing last year. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. I got an electric big Jon downrigger on eBay a couple months ago for $140. It can be done. With Electric you will tend your line more which means more success. You can drag a small fish all day and not know it. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. I used 10 colors of lead all summer and fall last year. No problem with fleas. Weird isn't it? Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
