  1. The charts still show cold bottom and warm top. What am I missing? Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. actually, I put the wrong the date, we're going out of Olcott Tomorrow, 15th. So I guess its in shallow for browns, or go out to 350 and north.......thats the gist of what I am reading. Or I cold go to Erie for walleyes have not been out there yet. I'm close to both lakes. Hmm decisions.
  3. I thought the salmon like 44 to 49? Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. Ok, what does that mean for those of us who don't understand it, in a nutshell. I'm going out of Olcott sat morning 25th. Was going to troll between 100 and 200. Is the fishing no good now? Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  5. as I recall the only thing I changed was rudder damping #13. I went up two. I think I set it to 5.
  6. I've been fishing out of Olcott. Was out two weeks ago and haven't seen a flea yet. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Glad I read this post. I was running my release below the probe. I changed it after reading this. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Hmmm. I fish alone allot. When a fish is hooked I don't have the option to reel in other lines. I have to just fight the fish and Hope for the best. So far not too many bad tangles. But, I keep the boat trolling along the whole time. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Gee that was easy Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I have a lowarance elite 4 chirp. Now they are called hook 4. Although I think it works fine, I see lots of bait and hooks, I think I would go with something else. They are now pretty cheap, however so for the money I think it is well worth it. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. My calibration didn't hold. The autopilot sensed heading does not match my wet compass. One of these days when it is calm o will recalibrate. It does not make a difference on how it holds the selected heading. I just point the boat in the direction I want to go, using the +10 -10 buttons, then press auto to hold that direction. I did change the rudder damping setting to make it less active. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. nice report. My biggest is a 17 lb. You had a good day for sure.
  13. Looks good. Yes, the 5 inches seems like not enough, but it does work on my boat. However, with 3 to 5 waves and wind mine will not make a 180 back to go the other direction. I have to crank the big motor and give it an assist. But once on track it works great. Again, that's only in heavy seas with wind. I have both my motors connected together for additional rudder action too. I believe you will find it well worth the connect disconnect. I usually only have to do it once on the AM and them when I'm done got the day. Unless of course you decide to pull up and go full out to a new spot. 14. You can see the hitch pins in the pics I posted in this thread. Get them at home Depot, tractor supply, or harbor freight has a complete kit assorted. I even have a hitch pin in the bracket I made for the big outboard. It allows me to remove half the bracket to all the 70 HP to be tilted. Yes it's a little messing around but doesn't take long and once you get her connected you done for the day! Just push the buttons as needed. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. I removed the bolt from the main steering and replaced it with a hitch pin. Quick and easy to connect and disconnect. I'm sure the st2000 will drive your outboards if you disconnect the main steering and reduce the friction setting. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. Ssomeone told me to loosen the friction on the kicker motor, and it made a big difference. Also, I disconnect my main steering cable when I am using the AP. Too much friction otherwise.
  17. I didn't even go 7/8 or 7/9, figured it would be too rough.
  18. Ok maybe I will tandem the yakima spinners and then run a clean spoon above them. I will try that. Thanks.
  19. I don't know what the purpose of the "wake up" wire is. I do believe my Lowrance NMEA output wire is yellow, as I recall. I am not sure my Lowrance has the correct NMEA navigation data to allow the raymarine to track. I beleive I read that it needs crosstrack info and I don't know if the elite 4 puts that out. I will look it up when I get a chance. My main usage is for it to track the heading so I can troll a straight line. It also works great to make 1 or 10 degree heading changes to avoid other boats. My unit lost its calibration, so its magnetic heading displayed does not match actual heading of my wet compass. I will have to recalibrate someday, but It doesn't matter that much too me. I point the boat in the direction I want to go, push the auto button, and it tracks.
  20. The carb on my 9.9 evinrude 1983 is buried under air box, so I doubt anything will work. I tried to make one myself, but could not get it to work.
  21. Be sure to put toggle switch in line with power. I think the unit will be on and drain the battery if you don't. I connected the nmea output from my lowrance elite 4 chirp. I don't think it is working but I only tried once briefly. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  22. It certainly sounds like you found the problem, which appears to be the trigger coil under the flywheel. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  23. Probably worth pulling the lower unit down and inspecting the impeller. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  24. I didn't get a cover. I've been using a plastic bag , not the best option. I hope it is waterproof somewhat. I just soldered the nmea signal wires together, and connected plus and minus power direct ( through fuse) to the RV battery I dedicated only to the autopilot. The factory connector has tiny screws that you tighten to secure the wire. They kept popping out. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  25. Tried the supplied power socket. It is junk. I cut it off and Hard wired it. Of course, be sure to fuse the power wire. Sent from my XT1030 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
