  1. 40% off all fishing tackle at gander now, they still have a lot of salmon gear left (flashers, dispies, flies, etc) Terminal tackle has been picked pretty clean but still ok selection of hooks and decent selection of stickbaits and spoons left.
  2. Its actually my brothers and he ended up selling the truck and going with a diesel.
  3. I'm still working on figuring out a decent spread from a smaller boat (18'). I wanted to find something I could run off planer boards that i could get away from my spread. I will be running 2 riggers (possibly stacked) along with 2 dipsies and then something on boards, I have 3 color LC i could run but was looking for something to get some spoons down a little deeper... maybe mono with snap weights? I have in-line boards and I'm not sure how to run them when fishing salmon as the ones I have don't release from the line (offshore OR12 boards), I worry they might break the line or cost me to lose the fish with a big run. Also running 2 dipsies on the same side of the boat also seems like a disaster waiting to happen so I would like to avoid that as well.
  4. If your talking about braid slipping when using inline boards there is a simple fix to that. Just double loop each clip and you won't have any issues with the boards slipping. Make sure the loop stays around the pad and doesn't slip into the groove behind and they will release just like normal. Been doing this for years running 10lb and 20lb braid on boards.
  5. anyone ever run segmented copper? say 200' copper then a 10' of mono then an additional 100-300' of copper. This way if you wanted to run it on a board you could attach to the mono section or if you wanted to run full 300/500' copper you could do that as well?
  6. Copper line and Planer Boards How much copper can I run behind a standard size (OR-12) Offshore in-line planer board? I've read that I can run 3 colors of lead without sinking the standard boards. How about the larger SST boards?
  7. Franks has the best price on these boards that you will find anywhere, Franks combo comes with tattle flags and upgraded red clips. Even used boards on here sell for $25+ and after adding flag kits and clips you will spend more than new would have cost. Trust me I looked for months and finally gave up and ordered from Franks. https://www.franksgreatoutdoors.com/off-shore-planer-combo-kit.html
  8. no plans on heading that way anytime soon. I get to Syracuse occasionally but that's about as far west as I go. I can get a shipping quote if you send me a zip code though. I can't imagine it costing more than $15-$20
  9. Airaid MXP Intake (14-17 Chevy/GMC 5.3L) This is an Airaid MXP cold air intake system for a 2014-2017 Chevy/GMC 5.3L engine. It will fit Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon models. It was used for less than 1000 miles and come with everything needed to install. Original box and instructions included. This would cost $400+ new. Asking $250 + shipping or pick up in the Utica-Rome area. https://www.airaid.com/mobile/product.aspx?prod=200-285
  10. The new helix 7 I'm looking at has CHIRP sonar, where the 898 is only "regular" sonar. Will SI allow me to see my baits on boards or downriggers? Is a 7" screen going to allow me to utilize the imagining properly? The DI looks awesome I'm not debating that, minus a good amount of detail and cool factor... sonar is showing pretty well what is going on down there.
  11. Imaging units really worth it? Are side/down imaging game changing features? I'm mainly a bass/walleye guy only occasionally get out for browns and salmon. Are imaging features worth it enough for me to go with an older used SI/DI unit or get a new sonar/gps only unit? Basically I'm looking at a brand new Humminbird helix 7 or an older Humminbird 898c SI/DI unit. Has to be a HB as I just upgraded to ipilot link. I've been using a gps/sonar only for years and caught plenty of fish without imaging... but this is my chance now to change as I won't upgrade again for a while. Electronics upgrade so fast I worry about buying a unit that's already 3-5 yrs old. But if imaging is worth it I could prolly justify it. as a guy dragging boards or casting the majority of the time I only very rarely mark the fish I catch. Mainly I find myself using sonar just to maintain my target depth.
  12. Still looking... just FYI boards without tattle flags are $25 each NEW from Franks
  13. Auto-stop? I'm not interested but first person that is will ask that question lol
  14. Yeah I know I got my other 2 pairs from Franks... I was looking for a cheap used spare/back up set.
  15. Yes trolling the bay, outside of the couple boats in the river and at the mouth I didn't see anyone doing anything other than trolling.
  16. Yeah dash unit with SI ducer on the transom. But I was hoping to run the ipilot link features from the dash if possible. They are separate cords off the terrova, seems like I should be to just use the us2 on the bow and other cord to dash for ipilot.
  17. Linking Humminbird units I'm getting ready to swap out my lowrance units for 2 humminbird units (one bow, one dash). I'm doing this mainly because I recently installed a terrova with iPilot Link. Here I was I want to happen... dash unit connected to terrova for ipilot link functions. Bow unit connected to us2 in terrova for sonar. Is this possible without setting up an entire Ethernet network? Im not sure if you can split the ipilot and us2 functions to separate units. I don't want to set up an Ethernet network atleast right now. I will run all us2/ipilot features off just the bow unit if I have to.
  18. Offshore Planer Boards Looking for a pair of offshore planer boards (regular size), with or without tattle flags. Before I buy new just seeing if anyone has an extra pair they don't use... PM me
  19. Just left sackets harbor today... launch in town is closed due to high water, had to launch at the Dexter launch in black river by the dam. Ramp to the dock is underwater but docks themselves are not. Knee boots and you will be fine to launch there (limited parking just fyi). Fishing was slow but the few bites we got were really nice fish, no browns but caught 4 eyes in the 7lb+ range with the biggest coming in at 31" and 11lbs (personal best)... ended up going 10/14 on eyes over the 3 days we were there (all eyes were released). Goodluck we had a blast!
