  1. Any comments on conditions tomorrow? Weather channel is calling 5-7 NNE for tomorrow... but they also called for 10-12 today and it was blowing easily 15+ this morning. Nothing worse than a 90 min drive just to turn around and go home (like we already did today). Only have an 18 ft Lund.
  2. I was up there at 7am and the inlet coming out of little sodus bay had solid 4-5 footers rolling in. Was too much for my 18ft boat so we put her back on the trailer and will try again tomorrow. Weather looks much better with sub 5mph winds all day long.
  3. Well this is less than encouraging... headed to FH in the am maybe Ill make a run towards sodus and try there.
  4. what do you do to remove them if your fighting a fish? I've seen the "slap" technique but can't imagine doing that while fighting a fish. Also read about people scrapping them off with a plastic knife?
  5. Yup was planning on heading to oswego friday... harborfest pushed me to fair haven.
  6. I actually have a trip planned to camp in the state park in fair haven the last weekend in August. This be a good trip to learn the lay of the land out that way. Appreciate the info guys thanks Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. I can do fair haven it's actually only 15 mins further for me than Oswego. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. I'm open to launching from someplace different... I just heard they weren't catching them in Mexico and they were in Oswego.
  9. Appreciate that but I don't need a place to stay Oswego is less than 90 mins from me. Just looking to do a day trip
  10. Lot of firsts planned for this coming Friday... First time to Oswego, first time on Ontario and hopefully catching my first salmon! Think we are going to launch from Wrights Marina but that's as much as I have figured out. Any advice on where to go or what to look for would be much appreciated. 11. Interested in the wire reels if you decide to split up things. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. so a loop knot when attaching fly to flasher but a swivel when attaching a spoon to flasher? What about attaching the flasher to the main line?
  13. Looking to head out for my first time ever this coming weekend, so I have a few rigging/terminal tackle questions. First my flashers all came with snap swivels (one side a ball bearing swivel, the other side a regular swivel). My question is how do I attach these to my main line or leader (whatever the case may be). Seems like a lot of terminal tackle to use a snap swivel on my main line to attach to a snap swivel on the flasher. Same question on the fly/spoon end, should I just tie them to directly to the snap swivel on the flasher? Seems like that would really slow down on lure changes? Also I would definitely use a snap swivel to attach to the spoon right? I'm obviously new to this and could possibly be over thinking it, but if I'm going to do it might as well ask and do it right the first time.
  14. Added that one to my order last night! cant wait to try them out... FYI the rigged pictures convinced me to buy them rigged over un-rigged.
  15. Looking to pick up a few 8" flashers, looking for some pro-trolls or spin doctors perferably.... let me know what you got thanks!
  16. New guy here from NY (just outside of Rome, NY)... long time bass/walleye guy. I run a 18ft alumacraft CS with a 150 Merc, and I'm slightly ashamed to say I live just over an hour from Lake Ontario and have NEVER fished or even been out on the lake before! Been doing a lot of research and hopefully plan on catching my first salmon this year! My port of choice will most likely be Mexico and I joined up to learn everything I can about trolling for salmon!
