  1. Purple taco is a good place. I sold some fly supplies earlier this year on here, can probably look for my listing to see what you get. I might have some lying around if you're interested. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. https://www.niagara-gazette.com/news/local_news/olcott-pier-project-ahead-of-schedule/article_e30dc36a-3384-541e-8e61-fc762e254aa8.html As of a few weeks ago they were ahead of schedule and on track for an end of October completion. Not sure when or if they'll let folks back on pier though. Try calling the ramp office or boat Dr's, they may have an idea. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. There is one on top of fort niagara looking out to water, can find link at the moment, but it's out there... I think on the forts website Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  5. Any offers? Would consider trades as well. Wouldn't mind another quality wire diver setup. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  6. You have to view the site in desktop mode, otherwise it's as if they don't exist in the app. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. Yeah they are crazy strong. Super durable as well. Thing still looks fantastic.... wish it fit my new truck to be honest. Should fit everything from 2015 to 2020 though, lots of those out there. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  11. Went out of Selkirk harbor the other day, headed out (WNW) toward front of Mexico power plant, hit some pods of fish out in 120ft of water and deeper. Marks were more plentiful heading north and towards deeper water for us. Didn't land any, but saw plenty of them down there. We tripped a rod or two but no sets. Spent a few hrs, late/mid day, nice and hot boat ride...can't complain about a good water day though I suppose! Saw at least 3 or 4 charter boats in same area. Northwest troll seemed popular. Didn't see anyone pull a net out the entire time we were out. Heard reports on shore of lots of marks, not a lot of bites. Most we saw were in the 80-100 depth. Temp break seemed like it was 100 in many spots... Good luck. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. If you bring the ball up often enough this might work in execution. Though, as im sure others will note - it's probably not exactly the best for the fish... if it gets dragged around too long, it could die of exhaustion / drown. That aside- One of the bigger concerns I'd have with waiting for ball retrieve is that if you pick up something undersized, protected, or out of season and wear it out to exhaustion/ death - what then? I think it's an interesting way to get another lure in the water, but I'd just stick with the standard approach if it were me. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Nice. Weather forecast was all over, made plans for erie with kiddos instead today, a tiny bit jealous.... but being on any water is better than not! Looks beautiful out. How are fleas? Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  15. Yeah I'll do this with an empty small dipsy I think... can't wait for all those fleas! Should I let out the backing too, or just the wire and leader? Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. There is a gap near edges of spool where wire didn't fill well... thinking that contributed to issue also. I am going to spool fresh, and try a 30 or 50lb braid backing so it winds compactly. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. Yeah it unspooled smoothly and in alignment the first several hundred feet, not sure how but it got off track... we have used it a few times since the tangle. Haven't had that much wire out to date. Using a Coldwater 453 reel, holds 1k feet with plenty of backing. I'm going to strip the spool and try again. Maybe ill let an empty dipsy out 800 feet or something and reel it back in with resistance to keep it seated well. Thought I did that last time, but maybe I went to 500 and stopped and that's where I broke off now? Who knows... Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. Old thread, but just had this happen to me. Hooked into a big mature, went from 135 ft out to 300 in about what seemed to be 10 or 15 seconds...fish was ripping wire off super fast (second fastest I've seen to date) I had previously cut apx 150ft or so off my 1000' reel due to a tangle. Got to 300 ft out on this fish, and wire snapped at spool [emoji20]. Looked like it was crossing opposite from the line guide creating additional friction, and was enough to break the 30lb 7 strand wire. Spool has mono as backer, wondering if I should cut off all wire and respool from empty with 50lb braid as backer or something like that. Any thoughts on braid weight? Should I skip and spool instead with fluorocarbon backer? It was heartbreaking to know there was a giant hooked hard at the end and losing it like that (with my dipsy, flasher, etc too, obviously) - being my fault too. So if anyone in Olcott/Wilson area hauls up a big one and it's got a bunch of gear toting along, let me know! Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Bump. We're in velvet season, got my shiny green license in the mail, dmp's only two weeks away... getting close! Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  20. Hey all, not sure where this would be best posted - apologize if it's in the wrong section. Anyone else having issues with the LOU app on their phone loading/staying open lately? Last two or three days on my Samsung Galaxy S20 I haven't been able to open the app without it immediately crashing.... tried a bunch of restarts, reinstall, etc. Nothing seemed to work. The site itself is obviously up and running. Same for Lake Erie United app for me.
  21. Water seems really low this year for sure. I picked up some nicks on my prop at the fort niagara ramp (south ramp). All sorts of debris / rocks blown out of ramp from people driving their boats onto their trailers.... (GRR). Not major damage, but really annoying. The north ramp has a ledge at the bottom of it folks are banging their axels on too... One guy bent an axel there a few weeks back... so pick your poison there... or, go to olcott / wilson (what i started to do). Drives me nuts to see someone with two 150 horse motors driving their 18 inch draft bass boat onto their trailer when they are too lazy to use the winch. If you're disabled or elderly - fine, i can give you a pass, but I have seen soo many folks rev hard up onto trailer and blow all sorts of garbage into river with prop wash....
