I was fortunate enough to work with Dave at Propeller Works in Canadaigua and thru his effort to help out a total stranger I was able to try a variety of different pitch props as well as a 4 blade RPM variance was negligible the prop on the motor is 13 3/4 x 15 3 blade i did not mention that the boat jumps up fine on a couple of occasions if in 2 to 3 foot waves I have gotten the boat to plane out by going with the waves that is the only time I have gotten more than 3400 rpm’s out of it I was a bit miffed by not being able to vary the rpm’s with radical changes in prop pitch About the only thing I have not done is rebuilding/cleaning the carbs, the so called expert I took the boat too swore that was not my issue if you know of someone who is experienced in cleaning and rebuilding these carbs I would entertain going that route I have not found too many people who will even work on these old motors and let’s just say the ones I have found did not instill a lot of confidence in me I appreciate your input Thanks Henry

Thanks for responding the80 Hp 3 cyl Merc motor I have on the boat starts every time, trolls fine and just about gets my 17 boat on plane with the muffs on it revs right up, but when the boats in the water it doesn’t get past 3400 rpm Parts I replaced plugs rebuilt fuel pump spark distribution box regulator (voltage was reading high) new fuel lines ran it off an external fuel tank fuel filters checked high and low speed stator circuits and voltages Then I took it to Discount Marine in Port Byron, ( Highly Recommended)he had the boat for a week claimed he fixed it $425.00 later and it still runs exactly the same so at this point I have a boat that starts every time I turn the key idles and trolls fine just can’t get past 3400rpm long story short I’m not looking for another motor to fix Thanks for you reply

I agree with your statements, as far as me personally it will allow me to hunt during archery season again as I approach 70 I have had difficulty in the past 2 seasons Drawing my bow after sitting in a stand for awhile particularly in cooler weather While I’m fortunate to hunt private ground in Italy Valley (8r)I have noticed a pronounced decline in the amount of hunters during firearms season for a good number of years now so I’m not sure how much it will effect hunter numbers during archery season Good luck and be safe and successful

A Crossbow is now a legal implement for hunting Deer in NYS during ANY Archery season What are your thoughts on this?

Guys are keeping their cards close to the vest…tournament time fishing has been tough the last 10 days, you just have to work at it and pay attention to details good luck
