  1. Hey man, I hope you have a speedy recovery!
  2. May 4th Our first morning chartering in Niagara county did not disappoint! We had action all morning and boxed out early for this group from Syracuse. The Salmon were mixed right in with the Lake Trout in a pocket of warm water just to the West of Wilson. Thanks for the tip from John Forbes. Spoons that went today were Team Dreamweaver Sea Sick Waddler, Wonderbread, Carbon 14, and UV Two Face. We also had a Wonderbread Smartfish going with an A-Tom-Mik Mfg. Glow Blue Hammer out 60' on a diver. Riggers were firing from 35-50' down along with 150' A-TOM-MIK copper and 5 colors of FishUSA Stealthcore. May 5th (morning) What a difference a day makes. This morning we motored down to yesterday's waypoints and it was ice water. We spent the day in search mode. It resulted in one Salmon boated (Sea Sick Waddler off our Cannon Downrigger), and a bunch of Lake Trout. The Sea Sick Waddler was easily the man today. Everyone onboard had fun, and enjoyed a great day on the water! May 5th (afternoon) On our afternoon charter we stayed close to Port. One of my old soccer coaches and teammate made it out for some Lake Ontario fishing action. We had some great screens at the end of our first charter today, so we gave it a shot. We took a couple Salmon and a Lake Trout. The Salmon chewed Familiar Bite Alewife strips, and the Lake Trout took a Team Dreamweaver Rasta Goose as a sliding cheater on a 35' Downrigger. Highlight of tonight's charter was a Father/Son double on Salmon! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  3. My brother and I are contemplating it. Timing might be a little off.
  4. They all work. I don't keep track of one working better than another. I can say they all fire.
  5. We've been running the Atlantic Herring for quite a few years now. It's the stuff you've seen in the B&T shops. The Alewife strips and Pacific Herring strips we've been testing for FB for about two years now. We mix it in with the Atlantic stuff when we're out there. According to him by June these should be in B&T shops.
  6. Do you oppose supporting American companies?
  7. Few questions: Why did the one motor and one transmission need to be rebuilt with such low hours? Do you have performance numbers?
  8. Registration is now open: http://www.greatlakesspecialevents.com/orleansopen.html
  9. Thanks everyone. That's a great pic. If you could send it to me that'd be great.
  10. 75 boat field and Team Yankee Troller for the win at the Spring King Of The Lake! One hell of a start for Team Yankee Troller on the 2019 tournament trail. We went out today with an open mind not knowing what the big blow Saturday did to the lake/fish. We quickly dialed in a program and had a good pick for a few hours in the morning. We only had 10 Salmon bites today, and landed 9 of them. We tossed our fish in the cooler and only ever knew what the smallest fish was. We had no idea we had the weight we did until the fish hit the scales. We put 86lbs on the scale, which was 4lbs more than second place. That was with a 12lb fish as our smallest. We also weighed the wrong fish for big fish and that cost us about a grand. For giggles we weighed our biggest after weigh in, and it was just under 21lbs. We fished 50-60' of water for most of the day. Two fish came on spoons, and 3 were Familiar Bite meat fish. The spoons were a Stinger glow mixed veggies and a moonshine apple seed. One fish came off FishUSA 5 color Stealthcore, one on a diver, and three off our Cannon Downriggers. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. They're here every spring, but the numbers I've seen this year are more than I've ever noticed.
  12. I've never seen so many Loons in one area. I wish they were more vocal Sunday morning.
  13. If you want to put braid on the spool tie your know and then electrical tape the first wrap or two of line onto the spool.
  14. This was our last weekend in Rochester chasing Spring Brown Trout, and we spent it with a great family! We got both days in and the kids were troopers in yesterday's NE blow. This 7yr old girl and her slightly older brother reeled in Brown Trout without much help from the adults! Hot sticks were Bay Rat Ghost Wipe and Ayu. Hot spoons were Sea Sick Waddler and glow frog. 15. Spool on 1000' of wire, connect backing, and fill spool. Then, clear the counter on the second reel and wait for all the braid to get reeled onto it and note the line counter number. Repeat that on the empty reel. That's how I do it. If everyone fished full spools we'd all be more accurate when telling buddies where our divers are firing.
  16. Browns, Cohos, and Steelhead love them. My brother usually puts one in the water every trip. The Rochester charter captains use them more then they will ever admit to.
  17. 30lb braid is sufficient for 10 colors of lead. I splice in 50' of 40lb mono between the braid and leadcore so I have something to clip my planer board release to.
  18. Depends on what Finger Lake. Some are better than others, but whatever Lakemaster gives you is better than stock. Make sure you get Version 2 of the map.
  19. Contact Tom at East Fork Marine in Sandy Creek if that's not too far from Buffalo.
  20. Why support a Canadian company when Familiar Bite is made near Buffalo and is an American company? Familiar Bite will have Pacific Herring, Atlantic Herring, Alewife, and Ballyhoo available this season.
  21. I'd stick with a simple Sonar/GPS. Humminbird HELIX 7 is a nice option in that price range.
  22. If the Saltist are out of your price range a Sealine is the next best thing. I run Sealines on my Lund for Browns, Salmon, and Walleye and they haven't skipped a beat. They were work horses for many many years on the Great Lakes. Keep an eye on FishUSA for daily deals where you can save on a nice purchase.
  23. Saturday Boat 1: Both boats ran today. Jamie Perkins and Mark joined me on the Lund. It was a good day with multiple species coming over the back of the boat. We went 1/3 on King Salmon, took a Coho, a Laker, and hooked multiple Brown Trout. Most of the Brown Trout were small today. The Salmon we landed was 16lbs on the scale, and it ate a new super slim from Team Dreamweaver called the Rasta Goose behind a Fishing - Chinook Diver-Stainless Steel Troll Fishing Divers. Boat 2: Captain Craig Hajecki and Justin Botting ran the Yankee Troller with long time clients Ray and Kurt. They had a multi-species day as well, and took a nice King Salmon right at the end. Their Salmon choked on a Bay Rat Lures Green Frog short shallow. They also got into a little nicer class of Brown Trout. Sunday Boat 1: Who says an East wind and a poor moon phase means they won't bite? We fished the Webster shoreline today. Water was clear on the inside, but we pulled fish from it on our first pass. When we turned around we took a deeper line back West. That 20-30' range would be where we spent the rest of our day. It was LOADED with big Brown Trout, Lake Trout, and Salmon! Fishing - Chinook Diver-Stainless Steel Troll Fishing Divers out 25-35' pulling Team Dreamweaver SS in Sea Sick Waddler and Coyote Ugly. Our Cannon Downriggers were going down 15-25' with a Sea Sick Waddler and a Gold Tuxedo. On the surface it was mostly Bay Rat Lures, but one of our Kings at a Smithwick Black/Silver. The Bay Rats that went today were Black Flash, Ayu, Yankee Troller, and Citric Shad. Boat 2: Captain Craig ran the Yankee Troller again today with the help of good friend Randy Calus. They fished near the mouth of the Genesee River looking for more of a shark bite this morning. They went 0/3 on Salmon, took 4 small Coho, and landed some very nice Brown Trout! 24. I've run the Great Lakes rods for a few seasons now. They are a nice rod, but I feel they could do a little better on fit and finish.
