  1. Jude, Great looking fish!!! BTW, nice meetin you at BE the other day. Steve
  2. Saturday hit the water with Dan (a little cuz I thought it was a good idea to leave the boat keys on the counter at home). Finally out and started our search for some active fish. I dont have a down temp yet, so we fished the marks. Ran 2 riggers with Mt. Dew SD with hammer fly, 42nd spoon with a orange cheater. Wires had Mt. Dew with hammer and green/white with hammer. Ran core down the middle for some steelies. Started in 250ish FOW and worked north, north east. Made it out to just about 700 FOW before we started to turn south. Went 5 for 7 for the day with a great double!!! Got a good tip to run the dipseys back to 340 feet and bam, doubled up!!! 32#, 28#, a few in the upper teens and a nice little steelie mixed in. Great day out on the water. Best day yet on the new ride!!! Sunday another friend Andre joined me for a quick trip. Out on the water just around 7 and headed to the same marks from the previous day. We stopped in 160 FOW to take a look. Decided to set up and head north. Same spread as previous day minus the leadcore. Just as I set the 4th rod, rigger fires...2 minutes later the dipsey fires. Double to start the morning! Reset and 30 minutes later, draggs were screaming again! Stayed in the 160-220 FOW and ended up going 5 for 7 again. Had a good king break us off, bummer. Pulled lines at 10:15ish and called it a day. All kings, 25#, 23# and the rest were upper teens again. Again a great day on the water!

    Big walleye

jcar585, I caught one in the same area as you did. 33 inches, 13 pounds. He went on my wall! I missed one a little larger the week before in the prop wash. Congrats on that eye!!! Well Done!!!
  4. Sk8man, Good to see that things may be turning on the up tick. I haven't been done there since the last time I saw you out there, 3-4 weeks ago. Thanks for the report. Steve
  5. Good point. It has been a wierd season so far on this lake.
  6. It was the same for me on Sunday morning. We launched out of the North end and worked the west side. German Brothers, Meneth Point, etc. etc. Never turned a rod and noticed plenty of dead fish. Major bummer!
  7. Got to the North end launch by 5AM. Met my dad there and got the new ride (Tidewater 186CC) in the water. Laker taker (Chuck) and his crew launched at the same time and off to Meneth point we went. Program was 2 riggers, wire dipsey and a leadcore. Day started off a little slow but it was steady. First was a rip on the dipsey set at 2.5 with white SD with green hammer fly (220 feet). Handed rod to my father and it was on for a few minutes, fish decided he did not want to play and spit a tournament tie. Dipsey was quiet rest of the day. Riggers started to fire after we dropped him (30 to 70 feet down). Next was a 3 pound bow that took stinger orange crush and gave us a show. Reset after we released him and same rod fires, real nice male bow, about 7.5 pounds. Dad had a ball with that one! While he was fighting that one, leadcore fires and I had something there for 30 seconds and gone. Landed his bow, took a quick pic and back into the H2o he went. Reset the riggers and another 3 pound bow, reset again and a 4 pound bow. We stayed around Meneth most of the morning. Ended up going 4 for 8, all bows. Orange crush stinger took three bows and stinger sunkist took the forth bow. All bows were released to fight another day. It was a good day to be out with my father! Thanks!
  8. Sk8man, I believe I was close to you in the north end, I was the light blue Tidewater CC. I was in tighter on the west side by Meneth heading south. Decent bait in 75 FOW but the fishing was slow for me as well. Couple small rainbows and one good rip on the dipsey and that was it for me. Then out came the pleasure boats and jet skis. Should be turning on really soon. Good luck.
  9. That's a heck of a Laker! I'm sure it looks good on the wall!
  10. You got the mount before the head? That's just crazy! I have head about that technique about aging. Hope they get back to you soon!!! Ugh!
  11. Gambler, Years ago I caught a nice landlock in Hemlock and got in touch with a guy named Brad Hammers at the Avon regional office. He told me to bring in some scales from the fish and they would age it for me. The fish was 9 years old according to the scales. He put the scales in some water and under a microscope. You could clearly see the rings in the scales. Each ring, equaled one year. They did it for me right then when I brought the scales in. I'm not sure why it's taking so long for you...bummer. Let us know when you find out! Thanks! Steve
  12. Dre, Let us know what you find out from the DEC. Thanks man!
  13. Jack, Say it aint so? Are you switching to a cuddy or dual con.? Still need a eye trip out with you! Steve

  15. I'm ready Jack!!! They look tasty!!!
  16. All, I've attached a couple pics of the new ride. I have played hockey, fished, and hunted pretty much all of my life. Married with 3 awesome step children...and been a graphic designer/art director since graduating college. I still have my 1969, light blue, Mirrocraft rigged for trout, salmon, and walleye. The boys up in Canada called me Blue Tuna years ago. The wife name is a good idea. Thanks for any input! Steve
