  1. I decided to do a little snorkeling around Hedges last week. I only went out to about 20'. I saw lots of gobies and only one Bass. The water was very warm so they were probably a little deeper if they are there at all. I did see what looked like old spawning beds. It was a beautiful day on a holiday weekend and not a single boat fishing. I guess that should tell me something! Rick
  2. That's what I was afraid of. Guess I'll stick to the small boat in the bay when I want to bass fish.

    Hedges

Haven't been bass fishing at Hedges in a couple of years. Gave it up because the Gobies seemed to have taken over. Has anyone had any better luck this year? Would love to see it get back to a fraction of what it used to be. It used to be nice to have when the kids were young and the trolling was slow. Rick
  4. Time to re-spool a couple of downrigggers and was wondering what I should use. I've never tried Power pro. I usually use Roemers to stack 2 rods on the downrigger and I'm wondering if that will still work. Also are the fleas a problem on the power pro? Thanks for any help, Rick

Picked up a brown, 7-9lbs, on a chartruese bomber just before Shipbuiders in 25' of water off the planer board. . Had one more release between Shipbuilders and Webster Park but nothing there. After a couple of hours decided to head north from Hedges. Picked up a small king on a stinger NBK down 77 over about 250'. That was it for the day. An absolutely beautiful morning to be on the lake. 6. I checked on line and found that West Marine and Eastern Mountain Sports carries 303 waterproofing. Called both places and neither place has it. Is there somewhere else I can get it locally?
  7. Time to water proof my top for the season. Any suggestions on what brand of water proofing to use on Sunbrella canvas? I've used a couple of different kinds but was curious what brands people preferred. Thanks, Rick
  8. Went down this afternoon to take a look. No docks in yet.
  9. Drove down to I-Bay this afternoon. It looks like the water is up a little since last week but still pretty low. Hopefully it will come up in the next couple of weeks
  10. Thanks for the help, I'll give it a try.
  11. I have a Lowrance x-91 I'm not using any more so I was considering putting it on my 14' aluminum. Is it possible to mount the skimmer transducer as a thru hull style to keep from drilling in the transom? If so what should I use for an epoxy/adhesive? I would like to use something removable in case it doesn't work out. Rick
  12. Been looking for wire for my diver rods. McMaster carr seems to have some good prices. I'm looking for ideas on what sizes people use. They have: 25 lb with a .012" dia 40 lb test with a .015 dia 55 lb test with a .018 dia 80 lb test with a .021 dia I'm spooling a couple of Daiwa sealine 47lc's. Should I use backing or all wire. Thanks for any suggestions. Rick
  13. Here is the newest crew member on the Bad Habit. My first grandson, Dominic, Born 1/18/2010. He has a lot to learn about fishing the Big O so I told him this is the place to be. I told his Grandmother he's going to need some new rods, reels and tackle. Time to go shopping Rick
  14. I have United Marine Underwriters. Premium was about $240 last year for a 1986, 25' Regal. That includes agreed boat value of $10,000, a 2001 loadrite trailer and $2500 personal property. Never made a claim so I can't comment on that. Rick Rick
  15. I'm not to concerned what team wins, I just want to win the Super Bowl pool I'm in. I could use the $$$ for gas and tackle!!!
  16. Thanks guys. Hoping the next 1/2 century is as good as the first. Rick
  17. Just kidding about the name! My first Bad Habit was in 1985, a 1971 16' Rinker. one other boat in between but now it's a 25 foot Regal. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the black box....Sorry. Rick
  18. Guess I need to find a new name!!!
  19. That looks like an "Ontario Flasher". If I'm not mistaken another board members father and a friend used to make them. Give Yodamage a PM and see if that's what it is. I have a few left but don't run them much any more. We did used to catch fish on them years ago. Rick
  20. We got both of ours on the same day a couple of weeks ago.
  21. Our brown dropped to third as of today but we put a 14.14 lb Laker on the board this afternoon. Fish hit a Dodger/NK fly, 85 over 100 a little east of I-bay. Hoping it holds up for big fish of the day. Two on the board with one day to go.
  22. I've got a Depth Rader on my Big Jon. When I drop it deep it always shows about 10 feet deeper on my fishinder then the counter reads. Even with the blow back. Not sure whats up with that.
  23. 1st place (as of today) Brown division. Reeled in by my brother Jim. Fish hit Stinger NBK down 55 over 65 in front of I-Bay. Took big fish of the day for $200 so it's already a winner. Sorry, didn't have a camera so no pics. Still alot of derby left so hoping for good weather to try to get another on the board. Rick
