Prop size for 1997 225 Penn Yan outrage. 4.3 mercruiser

Thanks all for the replies. I never believed in the fin either. It was on the boat when I bought it 2 years ago, so I figured someone knew more than I did. When I re-prop I'll probably take it off. I found the spare prop that came with the boat, and it is a 21 pitch so I'm thinking that's probably what is on it now. -

I have a 1997 225 Penn Yann Outrage with a 4.3LXH GEN+ Merc. I'm looking for the correct prop size for this motor. Right now, I'm only getting 3900 RPM at WOT. I cant read the numbers on the numbers on the prop that is on now. Also, should I stick with a 3-blade or go to a 4-blade.? The boat is used primarily for trolling. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a 1997 Yamaha 4 stroke kicker motor. It started giving me problems starting and staying running the last couple of trips this year. Does anyone know of a mechanic that works on these in the Rochester area? It's put away for the winter but I'm hoping to get it done early in the spring. I tried Pugsleys Marine but never heard back. Any help would be appreciated

We set up around 150' just east of I-Bay and found temp about 100 down. Fished most of the day between 160 and 200 feet of water. Went 11 for 12. The biggest was about 19lb. A mix of Salmon, 2 lakers, and a brown. Downriggers, sliders and divers all took fish The best lure was the Raspberry Carbon 14. -

Does anyone know someone who repairs Raymarine products in the Rochester area? I have a Smartpilot X5-R that the steering is binding. I know this has been a problem with this product. I did try to grease the gears, but it didn't make much of a difference that I can tell. This unit came with the boat, so I don't know how old it is. I was hoping to get an idea if it can even be repaired.

Interesting thread. I bought a Penn Yan last year with the same auto pilot. The steering is really hard but never thought about that being the problem. Do I need to take the whole unit off the steering column to see if that is the issue or can I just disengage it somehow? I don't have any experience with this unit.

I saw the same thing yesterday off I-Bay. I didn't see it on my way out but went through it trolling south a couple of hours later. I turned to head back north to get out of it and watched the temp. I had my probe at 65' and I didn't see any temp difference on the probe or the surface when I came out of it. I did have to pull all six rods and clean the grass off the line, cables, wire, and lead core. They were loaded!!!
