  1. Jim,

We are doing the Oswego Pro AM. First correspondence with you since you won the Spring LOC. Congratulations. You have accomplished a feat in your first year on Lake O that a lot of us have been trying to do for years and years. That's what we figured on paying our observer - $50/day.

When you say the new boat is that the one I saw pix of - The Sabre??? Looks like it's in good condition. I know a couple others who have Sabres and they love them.

Hope you get on the water soon. Give me a call if you get a chance.

  2. What do you all pay observers if you have a paid observer in the am division??

It's been a year or so since I was in any of the pro-ams'. Back the the observers got $50/day or $100 for the weekend. I saw where the price for a pro observer earlier was posted at $75. Is $50/day still the going rate for am observers?

  3. FWIW - I was just talking with a guy and he told me he fished with a guy who has a tunnel drive Penn Yan and it is very difficult to dock ALONE. He said you most definitely need two guys to put in in the slip due to steering issues in tight. One guy has to throw a rope around the post at the end of th eslip and actually pull the boat around to get it into the slip.

  4. Question #1 -

In reading all the posts and the rules I was wondering about this bonus laker.

Are you only entitled to a "bonus laker" after you have your 6 silverfish?? As everyone talks about getting the legal limit and then trolling around for a laker and catching bigger salmon.

So if I hook a laker prior to boxing my limit it's a throw back?

    Question #2 -

I don't see the same verbiage for the am's as I do the pro's. It states in the pro section "first legal limit brought on board" which does not appear in the am section. Are they allowed to release fish like the am's if the fish is not netted?

    Question # 3 -

What is a tournament legal lake trout? If it is over 18" I would assume it is a tournament legal lake trout because now you can keep 1 slot laker.

    Thanks for the replies.

  5. Would you like a chance to be PAID to observe some of the best fishermen and their methods and techniques on Lake Ontario?

Our Amateur Team is looking for a reliable individual over the age of 18 to serve as our observer/spotter on July 7th and 8th from the Port of Oswego.

You must posess a valid NYS fishing license. Other details to follow when you contact me at [email protected] or PM me on this website.

    Thanks,

  6. From what I have heard and not real personal experience - Not All Roller Trailers are Created Equal. Buyer beware. We have a ShorLandr' Roller and love it. My friend as bunk and fishes alone quite a bit. He love it too.

  7. Mark,

Some advice I heard from a charter captain who is a Lowrance field test rep. Wait 1 year before buying any Lowrance "NEW" product. It will give them a real chance to work all the bugs out.

We were looking at the LMS339C for around $700 and wound up spending the extra for a Furuno. Well worth the extra $$.

Just my $.02 or should I say $1K
