  1. Line Guy 800-667-1940 They will ask you if you have 4-6 weeks prior to fishing. I just ordered mine and it was here in 11 days. Don't forget there's a surcharge on top of th elicense fee too. Clarke
  2. :?: I have an older Airguide compass with a black and white wire exiting the compass. If I were to guess I would say they would be for illuminating the compass for night time/low light use. Can anyone confirm this?? I have searched relentlessly on the internet for this information and I can't seem to find any info. The other thing it might be but I seriously doubt it would be for an aoutpilot or GPS. Clarke
  3. Fishtails, If I was going to do it Iwould go Scotty downriggers all the way. Currently have Cannon riggers and there is nothing wrong with Cannons. But if I had to replace or had the $$ I would go the Scotty route. Clarke
  4. Welcome flybye, This is the place to ask those questions and learn. But.... there is no better teacher than putting that learning/advice to the application on the water. Like you I was a SR and tribs fisherman in my younger years and prior to a boat purchase. Now it is VERY hard to hit the streams due to the constant availability of fish in the lake. Again...welcome. CLarke
  5. What good is knowing your speed and temp if you don't know if there is any bait or marks?? Our xducer crapped out last year late in the salmon season and we had speed and temp at the ball but a blank screen on the ff. How discouraging was that..... not knowing if you had any bait or fish. Besides you can always go by GPS SOG which is what most of the radio chatter refers to when referencing speed. The necessity for S&T is when you have drastic currents below the surface. My duthers are have the FF to see marks and bait as some others ssaid even marks out of temperature are there for a reason. Just my $.02 Clarke
  6. I recently bought an FCV582L and onlinefishfinders.com had the best price. Just checked and their price was $1090 for the 585 whereas the Northeast Marine Price was $1140. Jeff @ onlinefishfinders will work with you to get you the best price - no tax free shipping, etc. Clarke
  7. Vince, I know several of the "characters" They can bust anone's chops with the best of them. Keep me in!!
  8. MuskyBob, Thanks for the link. WOW what a lot of info to digest but it's excellent. Clarke
  9. Rick, i am looking for one starting battery and one deep cycle on which to run my 4 Canon riggers. Clarke
  10. I liked that "for Dummies"title that I saw on another post so here goes. Group 24 vs. Group 27 - 12 Volt batteries Autocraft Marine vs. DieHard Marine (price difference is negligible) Is Bigger Better and is it worth the DieHard name. We are going to buy a couple new batteries and wonder if it is true "Brand Name" is better or not? I value all opinions and hope they will be one sided to make my decision earier. Thanks, Clarke
  11. We do most of our fishing out of Oswego/Mexico. But it's hard to beat that spring fisihing at the Niagara Bar and Port Dalhousie!!
  12. Dan, Have you guys gotten your nextworkschedules yet? I figure I have a better chance of finding out what Joecanz's schedule is from you than from him. Iv'e never seen a guy who likes to fish more but you have to twist his arm and hound him to commit. Maybe it's the 2 kids andwife but I thinkhe pretty much does as he pleases or at least he used to when first married. Maybe she has him somewhat trained by now???  Clarke
  13. Windburn, Shot you a p.m. regarding that Toy Town.
  14. Windburn, Was that toy company in Toy Town?? Clarke
  15. Does anyone else find that when retracing your trails that you hook up only going in the "original " direction? We usually make a turn and trace the trail in reverse and find that "usually" we don't hook up until we turn around and retrace the trail in the original direction. Clarke
  16. I thought Moore electronics came up with a substitute antenna/pick-up to replace the coiled spring. Spoonfed-1 has one I believe?? Clarke
  17. The way the price of gas is going can you say "row at 2.4 sog"???
  18. Yepper, Trails on all the time. Ask JanZ about trails in the Niagara pro-am a year ago or so, it's quite an interesting story. Clarke
  19. I think this is personal preference but I would put the rod with the longest lead off the ball closer to the bow. That's how we run our planer board rods and I would hold true to that. Clarke
  20. Thanks Tim, I thought I had said in the river on the Canadiam side in the original post.
  21. Don't forget if you are fishing the river on trhe Canadian side you are only allowed 1 rod per man     Clarke
  22. Can someone post the link - I lost all my favorites here at work when my hrd drive crashed. Thanks Clarke
  23. If you call on the phone to register and have your original or last ear's card and pay by credir card you keep the same card and number instead of needing to have them mail you a new card. I and several others I fish with have the original cards and numbers issued from the first year cards were issued. Clarke
