  1. Straight from the border patrol. I just spoke with them. If you are to launch from US waters and fish in Canada (EVEN IF YOU DO NOT ANCHOR OR DOCK), every person on board will need an I68 permit. You go to the Lewiston border patrol office (open 24/7) and get one. They are 16 bucks per person, or if its just family members the fee won't exceed 32 dollars. Go fishing in Canada, you don't have to call when leaving. Then once entered back into US waters, you must call the border patrol and tell them you are back and give them your permit #'s for all on board. Thats all you need to do. He said the CG and the BP will be out enforcing. He also said you can take your chances BUT.........If you get caught entering back with out the permits, you will be escorted to the nearest, port and be sujected to inspection and he said it will be "Unpleasent" and "time consuming" So this is inforce NOW! The other alternative is to motor to a port and report in, in person each time you go to Canadian waters. RR
  2. Guys I am going to put up a separate post. I just got off the phone with the boder patrol in youngs town. Very important if you plan to fish Canadian waters for the LOC. RR
  3. Yes I did. I have the niagara customs on speed dial on my cell. I think its quite a hassle for the charter capts though. They are going to have a heck of a time enforcing the call customs rule and from what I can remember what i read, I thought that was a dead issue. They haven't even installed the video phones yet. RR
  4. Come on guys, we have known about this for over a year. As soon as I heard about the new regs, I got a passport(last year). Problem solved. This county has had very lax rules for going to canada and Mexico. With the way the world is now, I don't find it suprising at all. In order to go to any other country in the world, you need a passport. either get a passport or the enhanced border card or don't go. RR
  5. Fishing is very very slow right now. 3 of my neighbors were out all weekend and managed 1 fish. 3 boats 1 fish. I was power washing the house and docks but i have been catching very large pickerel off the dock! Thanks for the pic Clarke! RR
  6. Ha Walteye, I hate flat calm! lol I'll be out of FH tomorrow as well. Islander boat name blue moon. I'll monitor 68 give me a call. RR
  7. The problem is lots of guys have 17 to 19 ft boats and its not a fun day. For me I have boat control issues in 5's so thats my limit. The big guys don't have problems but I find that I will slide and the lures won't run right unless I'm going with or against the waves, then speed becomes an issue even with bags out. Get beat up too. Boat takes a beating, break stuff. Been there, I'll go play golf instead. 2 to 4's no prob though. RR
  8. Ron, Headed to the bar? I'll be at the motel wed. good luck! Can't help ya with the chip though, sorry. I have the navionics hot chip and its ok. RR
  9. Nope happens every year but now its worse since Cornell built that new sailing club building and got a bunch of new blow boats. I have even tangled with the rowers before. Best just to give them their space. RR
  10. The problem is its a sailing class. They don't have an fn clue and there's 20 + sailboats. Thats why when I see em come out, I get the heck out of there. RR
  11. Good luck! I am assuming you were on the south end of Cayuga. I understand your pain but you are just going to have to stay away from that area when they have their sailing class (races) going on. Go over to the west side till their done. Fishing has been better over there as of late anyway. Its a big lake, I just leave the area. You will never win an argument with those blow boats. Sorry but thats the way it is. And don't let it ruin your day. RR
  12. I never use tapered leaders. I always use knotted leaders. Not only are they stronger, the knots help turn the fly over better. 100% flourocarbon too. Should be able to order them from any good fly shop. Then order a few spools of flouro tipit in thelb test of choice. AND ALWAYS RETIE YOR FLY AFTER LANDING A FISH! Thats a biggie! RR
  13. It was her and she is still swimmin, prolly back in the lake by know she was spawned out. Prolly would have been a good 7lbs before the spawn. If I'm not going to eat em, I don't kill em, except for the LOU of course! Then my neighbors get them. I keep one salmon a year to grill. I'm a haddock and cod guy. RR
  14. Nope, Not many trout there water was low and full of suckers. Inlet, water was clear, good flow but you have to fish the deep holes. That hole is at least 6 ft deep. Couldn't see the bottom anyway. RR
  15. #1 Rockin out with my band #2 skiing in the winter #3 hanging out on the lake with the wifey! RR
  16. Perfection knot always. Never a problem for me. Sounds like you had some bad leader material though. Its one thing to have one break once in a while but 3 or 4 doesn't sound right. RR
  17. Still a few around. http://s87.photobucket.com/albums/k123/ ... format.flv RR
  18. I counted 17 boats trolling the south end this morning. I was going to be one of them but I still need to mount my planner masts. Couple of guys couldn't make it so I fished the inlet and salmon creek, then got home and finished the install. Boat is now ready. Weather man said NW 20 to 30 for today, boy were thay wrong. Didn't turn NW till about 1 and then it was nothing. I'll be out for the season starting next weekend, RR
  19. I had an inlie 6 merc that would do that. Ended up replacing the distributer, Not the cap, the whole thing. That took care of it. I don't know how old yours is but I had points and such. Put in electronic ignition and it never happened again. RR
  20. I had to relpace my fuse holder right out of the box! Installed it and no power. Cut 2 new power lines, ran em and again still no power. Futzed around with the fuse holder, got it to power, replaced it and now its been fine. Love the unit, just a bit dissapointed they would put in a 10 cent fuse holder on a 450 dollar unit. RR
  21. Sure why not? Fishing should be ok till the water warms up. RR
  22. I have a home made set of big boards (Cedar) in excellent condition. FREE. You either come and pick them up or I will be at the bar from May 6 thru the 10th if you happen to be up there. I'm on the east side of Cayuga lake,King ferry. RR
  23. 8 ft with a nylon mount. shakespear. It works just fine as I used it all of last year and had no trouble. It came with my new islander but I had a top o d line one and a stainless mount from when i totaled my first islander and I just swaped them out a couple days ago. I'm on the east side of Cayuga Lake, king ferry.
  24. Big minnows under a bobber about 6 to 8 ft down. Salmon and browns. Or try white bucktail jigs or white rooster tails. RR
