  1. here is a 9pt.s that I got on Friday afternoon... Hit hard at 22 yards and didn't go far...
  2. Really nice buck!!! Did you notice the double white patch on it's neck... I remeber reading something a few years back that it is fairly rare...
  3. What kind of condition is the boat in? Any leaks? Is it possible to get a picture?
  4. Hijinks.... I also fish from a 16 foot aluminum boat... We have talked about it many times on this board, you just need to be smart... As you get to know the lake you will feel more comfortable venturing from shore.. you really need to be where the fish are at.. I pay very close attention to the weather and when it doubt pick up and go.. The fish don't know how big your boat is, so if you are in the right spot, running at the right speed and running a good program, you can catch a lot of fish in a small boat... enjoy!!
  5. I am looking for an old row/johhn boat... don't need a trailer an doesn't need to be very big. I had an acre pond put in at my hunting camp last year and simply looking for something that I can use to "get around".... I don't want to spend a lot of money (but willing to pay a resonable price), it is not something I will use often.. If someone has something laying around and want to get rid of it, let me know....
  6. I have fished out of a 16 foot aluminum boat the past few years on LO... You have to pick your days and watch the weather. You also have to pick your port... In the summer I am more comfortable fishing out of Oak Orchard because I don't have to run off shore as far... Jusst be smart and don't push it... If the weather is questionable or getting questionable, get off the water....
  7. Here are my thoughts.... fish, like any other animal in the wild (deer, turkey, etc...) prefer certain food sources... when that food is abundant, they stick to those sources... when that food is not adundant, they will gravitate to other food sources as a means of survival or substaining themselves.. i think that you tend to see more in variety in a Brown Trout's belly because of their tolerance for warmer water and the vsariet of forage that resides there... that is my 2 cents..
  8. Keith and Dan, Thanks for the responses... Yeah, I definietly want to actively participate in his training.. I am really looking forward to it. Keith, I took your advice and ordered a DVD from Cabelas today.. they had one that was specific to spaniels, which had good reviews. I have also read a few books that had been recommended to me. Probably a case of being overly concerned, but I really just want to ensure that that I am doing things properly. I have hunted beside a few really good dogs, but have not been part of the training process. I think it will be a good expereince... He is a great puppy and I am enjoying having him around... If I could figure out how to post a picture, I would post a pcutre of him.. Tom
  9. I recently purchased my first hunting dog, an English Springer... There appears to be quite a few hunters that post on this board and was wondering if any one could recomend a GOOD trainer... Having not had any personal experience with training a dog for hunting, I want to find someone that I can work with to help ensure I doing thing right and correct anything I am doing wrong... I live in Irondeguiot, so would prefer someone within an hours drive.. I also have a camp just outside of Nunda, so would also be interested in anyone in the Nunda/Dansville area. Any help would be greatly appreciated... Tom
