Your my hero! What reel can you put 1000'of copper on? [ Post made via Android ] Shimano 30 Wides. They are offshore saltwater reels. Best thing about them is when they go off it sounds like a chainsaw! They put insane amounts of line back on the reel per crank, stick them in a rod holder and go (after you take the board off). Not sure exactly how far down they are, but we pull huge lakers 300 down (as seen on the sonar) with them.. The perfect setup for the unruly customer But we use them in certain tournament situations as well. Rick, Would you be allowed to run these at the Oak? lol

Good work Tom!

I believe if you have enough interest in becoming a guide then you probably have enough knowledge to pass the test. If i remember correctly they actually provide you with a reg guide with the test.

Your my hero! What reel can you put 1000'of copper on? [ Post made via Android ] Oh no...

The test is a fairly easy one. Theres is nothing provided to you to study but read over the NYS regulation guide. The test is a mix of general outdoor knowledge and NYS regulations.

It how the guys do it in Michigan and they will run up to 4 boards a side too.

Me too! Invest in a fly tying vise. It makes tying leaders alot easier.

Ill take one too!

2 years of abuse on my 4 wire setups and I couldnt be happier. If your looking to get your hands on some check out brettsplaceonthebay.com. They have 1000' and bulk spools.

Ironically i have the same issue... I powerwash mine clean, let it dry, and then treat it with teak oil. It will never look as good as the day i do it and by then end of the season it looks terrible again. Unlike the rest of the teak in the boat, the swim platform fights the constant battle of water exposure and too much sun. A war in which wood will never win.
