  2. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Friday eve we set up in front of the pump house in 80ft trolling north east. The water had warmed up quite a bit and did not find the colder temps until we hit 180. Good colored water and great steelhead action in the top 50 ft, with kings below. Purple dalmation and purple puke took most of the fish. Our big fish if the eve a 20 lb king came off the diver 200 ft out on a #2. Sat AM we decided to take a peek in tight for some early am browns. We set up just west of the creek and within a few minutes we had 2 browns. We lost them both and then we did not move a rod for an hour. We left the skinny water and trolled to where we left on Friday. On the way out we picked up a laker 35 ft down over 120ft. Got to 180 and had Great coho, steel, and king action.( can't forget the plastic bags, we boated at least 10!!!).....We doubled 3 times and had 3 fish bite while setting lines. Nothing better than a fish hitting the lure while the rod is still in your hands. The big steelie of the day was a 13lber. 85 ft down over 215 fow. The 42nd spoon and ITO flies doing most of the damage, taking both kings and steel. Wire bites were effective at 180/300/285. Great morning on the water...
  3. Rob great report. You will have to tell me more about the "blood run" stuff... I saw you head west on Sunday. I was curious how you did. We went east and worked between Wautoma and the light house. There were a ton of lakers in close, but we found some pretty decent king action out in 200. There was a nice break out there. All the fish came 50-60 ft down. All spoon bites. Nothing huge but still a lot of fun. Lou
  4. Joe I will be out Sunday AM. If your babysitting, why can't you take them fishing?!!! Every kid loves to fish!!!

We started in 65 ft with a 2 degree temp break on the surface. While setting lines we doubled. Rigger took a shot 50 ft down on a green puke. The wire fired while letting line out. Green dot spinny with ITO fly. Lost both fish(decent size browns). Continued north and found a lot of fish on the screen in 150. We boated 4 kings, 2 lakers and lost 3 other fish. Blue dolphin stinger took 3 kings . A beautiful evening on the water.
  6. Alex. Thanks for the kind words and congrats on the fish. The best trips I have are with my kids. It never gets old seeing the excitement on their faces! Lou

With the rain/wind called for today I was anxious to get out early to get them fishing in case the Lake blew up today. We left the dock at 6:00 with the plan to fish west of the creek as I did yesterday. We had an ok day yesterday between the creek and Newmans. The water was clear but the fish were holding in the shallow water. This am while setting lines we had our first fish. A decent brown about 6 lbs. As we continued west past Newman's point, we did not move a rod. We turned around and trolled back east past the creek. Still nothing. We headed back west and hugged the shoreline from the creek to Newmans and the rods were on fire. Our first pass in 4 ft we had put a few decent browns in the boat. We hit the point and in 11 f.o.w was making a turn back in. The outside planer rod fired. After a short run, it held tight. Given a few good head shakes along the way. When the fish finally came to the surface the guy said "Holy F&%#@" at least 20 times in a row! (Time to grab the salmon net!) After a good fight at the back of the boat, the slob brown was in the net. We ended the day with over 20 bites and 16 fish in the boat. It was wet and cold, but it was well worth the conditions. What a great morning!! The darker lures today seem to work the best. The big brown came on a gator spoon. Great job done by Chris, Eric, and John. You guys were a blast! Lou
  8. Jeremy Congrats on the boat. Good luck out of the Oak this year. Lou

He recently purchased a boat and wanted to give it a go out of Sandy. With just 4 rods, we started heading east and picked up a small steelhead. After a while with no more bites we changed some things up. We headed west and between the creek and the pump house was on fire. We ended up with 16 fish in 2 1/2 hours. All browns in the 3-6 lb range. Hot pink and glow green took most of the fish. Water color was good but you could see it starting to clear. Sat am I took my boys out for their first BT trip of the year. We headed west and saw the water had cleared up. Fishing mostly around the pump hose in 6-10 f.o.w, we had a slow steady pick of fish. Early on it started out a little slow but it got better as the morning progressed. We ended up with 15 fish out of 19 bites with a 12 lber being the big brown of the day. No real color pattern today. Purple, black, copper, and blue/green were productive. As we were pulling rods and cleaning up we had 1 rigger still out. My oldest yells "Dad, Dad!!!" as I turn around to start yelling at him for yelling at me, I see the rigger rod bent over. With a little help from his younger brother and my buddy, they caught a decent 12 lb laker. It was a good 2 days of fishing especially with my kids. It is the brief moment when they actually aren't beating the #@&% out of each other! Lou
  10. Nice report Chris. This time of year its nice to know the offshore bite can be pretty good Lou

Fishing east of the creek to cowsuckers. Early am and late eve working 80-110 ft. Many fish over 20 lbs with small steel mixed in. White spinny/green hamer fly taking 11 fish on 3 trips this week. Gator spinny/Siggs aqua lime pulse fly also taking decent kings. Sushi fly landing our largest of the week at 29 lbs. Late morning and early evening in 200-300 ft took some decent steel and smaller kings. Carmel dolphin spinny/fly and Stinger f'n wiggler working well in the deeper water. Sat am was busy with 4 fish over 20 lbs. One slammed a Stinger orange killer. Bent the @#%/& out of it. No derby winners but overall an excellent week. Here are some pics of the fish caught.

After a tough fight we landed this slob... I think we need a new catagory!!! Need I say more?
  13. We had a donated charter for a 16 year old diagnosed with cancer. Great trip with a lot of fish caught. The father caught this 27.12 king on a yellow die hard 85 ft down over 110 f.o.w. Started in 4th on Saturday, still hanging on in 20th this am. They know it is not going to last but they had a blast. Too bad he would not let his son reel it in!!!
  14. Nice Job Joe. Glad to hear they had fun. Yesterday was a good day. We were just west of the creek and had very similar results. Lou
  15. Mike, Nice Report. We were out there too Sat AM. Very productive morning. Got to love deep water fishing!
  16. For anyone interested, it is a great boat to fish off of. Plenty of room and the set up is ideal for any type of fishing. I have been on this boat in all types of weather. It handles the lake nicely. The AP works well, an awesome option to have while fishing. It has been a good boat to Jeremy.
  17. I have been using the old style for years. I have very little issue with it. The important thing is keeping a fresh battery and use the coated cable. The coated cable works better than non coated. If the coating comes off, then it could screw up your reading a little. If you need any more info, don't hesitate to ask. Lou
  18. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 7-10 Time on Water: 5:00pm Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: SW Waves: 1 Surface Temp: 73 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2.6-2.8 Boat Depth: 200-250 Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== After spending a week in Fair Haven, it was good to get back to my home port. With only 2 of us, we ran a typical 2 rigger, 2 wire dipsy setup. We started setting lines at 5:00pm in 160 heading north. With the cold water moving up( 44 degrees down 65ft) we set the riggers at 65ft and 80ft,(fixed cheaters on eeach) the divers at 260 and 280ft. As soon as we planted the rigger at 65 ft, fish on!. While bringing it in, I look over at the port rigger. My friend was setting his fixed cheater. I noticed a fish attached to the main lure on the surface. A laker hit the spoon 10 ft down!. I guess you can call that our 1st double of the night. 2 lakers,(yipee) We set back up again. Finally getting all 4 rods in the water, both dipsies fire within 30 seconds of each other. Landing a nice 10 lb steelie and 17 lb king. Set back up again and The port rigger fires, then the starboard dipsy. Another double( so we thought), while both of us at the back of the boat fighting fish, the starboard rigger fires. Triple!!. We landed all 3 fish: 2 steelies ( approx 6 lbs) and a 19lb king. Shortly after we lost a nice aerobatic steelhead at the back of the boat. Between 5:00 and 6:00 we were 7 for 8. What a first hour of fishing. Of course after that we stunk, going 1 for 4. But it is tough to complain with the frenzy we had early on. Hot lures were blue dolphin spinny/fly, white spinny/yellow hammer fly. Blue dolphin Nk and green dolphin NK. Best depth between 200-250.
  19. Brian Nice report and congrats on another derby fish. Very cool stuff
  20. Brian nice job on the fish. Here's a tip when fishing in lightning with your wife: have her hold the rod tip straight in the air when fighting fish!! [ Post made via iPhone ]
