  4. Rob good report. We had or fill of lakers this weekend as well. Mostly over 10 lbs with our largest at 18lbs. We had one fight like a king. We actually had to turn on it!!!!. We did land a decent king last night. We worked from Wautoma to Braddocks as well. Lou

  8. My good friend Shawn and I had the pleasure of doing some Niagara River fishing with Danny Evans(Lone Wolf). Our trip had been re secheduled due to extreme wind back in January and Sunday the 17th was to be the day. Danny called on Saturday evening and suggested again that we re schedule The river conditions were not ideal and Danny did not want us to waste a trip. (I didnt think he wanted to fish in 18 degree weather ) The forecast was calling for a strong NW wind and temps in the teens. Shawn and I said the hell with it we were going anyway! When I got up to 4" of new snow I said " are we crazy?" but that thought was quickly erased with hopes of getting on some decent fish. We arrived at the launch at 9:00am. After a few minutes of cleaning snow and ice off the boat we were on the river headed towards devils hole. We fit between a small pack of boats and started our drift. Within a few seconds I had my 1st and only fish of the day on. A small but sporty steelhead put up a good fight until it was in the net. That got the blood flowing and seem to keep me warm for the remainder of the day. Shawn was much luckier than I. He hooked and landed 3 decent fish: A 15 lb laker, an 8 lb steelhead and the fish of the day: a 10 lb walleye. All 3 fish gave up good fights and made the day a complete success. We ended around 3:00. We were tired and a bit cold but it was well worth the experience. Thanks Danny for letting us convince you to get out in the extreme cold to put us on some fish. It is much appreciated We had a blast
  9. This came to me in an e mail. I thought it was pretty neat. Not sure I would have pick up the young deer but....

We fished mostly every day last week. The bite was tough in close. Working mostly 80-110 fow. One day the cold water was right on the bottom, then the next day, warm water moved in and pushed the fish out. Sunday the 26th we fished morning and evening only boating 5 fish! Tuesday am was just as bad with only 2 hitting the deck. At least one was 28 lbs... Wed AM we put a good program together and boated 5 kings over 20 and a 13 lb BT which got us big brown for the day. Then we head out Wed eve and the fish disappeared. Friday the 31st we had great action until the lake blew up with 30 mph sw winds and a sick passenger. It was a very short trip but we managed 4 decent fish. Sat am with strong NE winds we struggled again to find the fish and ended our trip with another sick passenger. Sunday morning( the 2nd) was our best day with multiple kings coming at a frantic pace. It seemed most boats out there were sharing in the fun. The only thing in common last week was black and green was our most productive color. Mostly a spoon bite for us with Moonshines doing most of the damage. Meat rigs also took a few over the week. We ended the week on a good note, until I took 2 good chunks of gel coat out of my hull loading the boat on the trailer. Got to love the shallow water at Sandy! Many thanks to Chris ( Jolly II) for helping me out this past week. It was great having you on my boat. Lou

Set up in 320 and immediately rods were firing. Nice pick of kings and steel and a great lesson to be learned: Never pick on someone who has a hook in his ear! It may come back to "hook" you. Sorry Jeremy,! karma is a &%#@*

Even though the off shore bite has been hot, we decided to work the inside waters. We set up in 100' out of the creek and worked NW. Fishing has been decent in the 120-140 range recently. I had an ex salmon fisherman on the boat along with his son( bass fisherman ) and his father in law. Around 6:30 the action started with a nice 22 lber coming off the down rigger 100' down it took a purple dalmatian. We followed up with a nice double on the wires. Meat rig 320 out and a caramel dolphin spinny/fly out 340. The 2 fathers fighting the fish side by side! We ended the night with a 26lber coming off the meat again. We had 4 kings over 20 and a couple of nice steelhead. Friday eve the bite was tough. We got a late start due to some vehicle troubles Set up in 100 again on the same NW troll. We washed lures for a while, picking up a couple of steelies and dropping a couple more. Around 7:15 on the meat again out 375, we picked up a 22 lb king. It took us out over 6oo'. A great fight. We ended the night with a screamer off the down rigger. It hit a yellow banana Yeck cheated 10 ft over a NK mag. Rigger was down 86 ft. The rod fires then went limp. I yelled "REEL REEL REEL" as soon as the line got tight, " game on" the fish ripped out line. After a good 20 minute fight, the fish was at the back of the boat straight down causing havoc. Finally in the net, we boated the fat 25 lber. Both nights we had good quality fish even thought we did not have a ton of bites Meat rigs are still producing the big guys. Be safe this weekend on the water. Lou

This past week some good, but strange things happened. First off on Wed eve, my 8 yr old reeled in 2 fish on one pole. Since he never has experienced this before, he was thrilled when a laker and small king were on his line... Sat am we pulled a small king on 2 separate rods. The feisty but small fish must have been hungry to take both spoons in his mouth..... Sunday am, while letting out the port dipsy we had a nice rip. we grabbed the rod and after a short but good fight, the fish was gone. So we set it back out and before we know it, while setting it to depth, it ripped again!!.( back to back fish while letting line out, very cool) This time we won the battle and boated a nice 8 lb steelie. As we were pulling rods, I popped the deep dipsy and was reeling it in. Approx 150 ft from the boat, the fish bit and just about ripped the pole from my hand. Fighting like a spring king, the steelie took off and gave us a nice aerial show before landing in the net. (It makes clearing rods some much better when a fish is on them.) Ended the weekend with a lot of fish, mostly steelhead, kings with a few browns and lakers. A great week/weekend of fishing. All fish came between 95-140 ft. With temps moving up 40-65 ft down produced most of the fish. Mostly a spoon bite for me. The gator and jager bomb were very productive this weekend. Wonder bread knockout spoon also has been extremely hot these past few weeks. Lou
  16. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== My nephew is on leave from the USMC and asked if I would take him fishing. I asked my father(82) you has not yet caught a salmon to come along. My oldest son( was chomping at the bit to go as well. We set up in 120 and trolled NE. Since the fish recently have been down deep, I set 3 riggers and 3 divers. Before I could get the 3rd diver set, fish on. 94 ft down on a Stinger Kevorkian ice. My nephew( first time salmon fishing as well) grabbed the rod and the fight was on. After a good fight, the 20 lber was in the boat. While preparing for his release, the starboard rigger goes. It hit a dirty white boy nk28 cheated 12 ft 100 ft down. As I was preparing to hand my father the rod, it broke off! We set back up and after a while with no takers, the port rigger fires 110 ft down cheated 10 ft. This time my son grabs the rod and hangs on. Within a few minutes he asked my father to assist. Both of them holding the rod fighting the fish. It was priceless to see the young and old together sharing the biggest fish of both their lives to this point. The 19lber hit the cheated wonderbread spoon and put up a decent fight. As we netted the fish, both of them laughing and talking about how tough that was. It was awesome to see my dad and my son smile and carry on about the experience they just shared. We turn to head back to our track and the port rigger fires again. This time a blue dolphin down 110. My father grabs the rod and by himself handled the smaller but energetic fish. After a few good runs my father gets it to the boat. A decent 10 lb king was perfect for him to handle. Another priceless moment... We ended the night with a 20 lb king coming off the wire 280 ft out. Just as my nephew asks what happens when the dipsy rod goes.... it went!!!!! He grabbed the rod and he fought the fish until it was just about dark. (and he thought that basic training was tough ) All the fish came in 150-155 ft of water just about in front of the creek. Over all a great night on the water fishing with the young and old. It goes to show that fishing can be enjoyed by everyone.
  17. Looking forward to it this year. I was bummed I missed out last year. Lou
