  2. Hi All, i want to buy more of this lure, but i don't remember what it is called or the best place to buy it. thanks, dre
  3. Les - Congratulations on an awesome fish at the right time! dre
  4. Alright then! When i have the grand prize fish, i will be able to pass the poly!!!! dre
  5. Hi Les, thanks for your quick response. I have never taken a polygraph test, but i hope to have to take one real soon !!!! I suppose that because it is my belief that i am not fishing until a line/lure touches the water, i would pass that question - even if i did launch at 5:15a. I'm still curious what others think on this matter. dre
  6. Hi all, A few years back, i tried to launch my boat shortly before 6am and there was about a 30 minute wait (launching line). Thus, i have begun to launch around 5:15am, head out to my areas, but not put a line in the water until 6am. Then i heard someone commenting on the "armada" of boats on the water before 6am that were breaking the start time rule. I don't see how i could be breaking that rule if i have no lines in the water. Will you give me your opinion on this? thanks, andre
  7. it's important to remember that just because one releases a fish that swims away with apparent vigor doesn't mean that fish didn't die later that day - often from exhaustion (from a long fight) or from having its gills damaged (i see so many photos on this site of people who released a fish with their hands way in the fish's gills, torquing the heck out of its gill plate, and blood streaming down it). If you guys landed 50 fish, i would bet most of what i own that you killed some fish (not that that's necessarily a terrible wrong, but it is wrong to think that because you practice C&R, that you don't kill any fish). dre
  8. Hi all, is there a certain water temperature when the bullhead bite really turns on? i'm going to try chicken livers. What size chunk do you use? about 3/4"? thanks, dre
  9. do most of you think it is a good idea to tie the chicken livers in egg sacs? Surely that will keep them on the hook better, but do you think it might get fewer bites? what size would you cut the livers - about 3/4"? thanks, dre
  10. thanks for all your input! dre
  11. Hi all, i have never done well on good-sized bullhead and am hoping to this spring. I am curious about your favorite baits and also how you rig for bullhead - do you have a wait on bottom and a separate hook line coming off a three-way swivel of just some splitshot above your hook? thanks, dre
  12. i also highly recommend John Gaulke. andre
  13. Hi all, this obviously in not FLX-related, but i thought you would enjoy this 2-minute clip. I've never felt the plight of baitfish like this before! i guess i don't know how to make a link, but if you cut-and-paste the URL (below) it should work andre https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szuchBiLrEM#action=share
  14. I agree completely that they should not be able to sell perch. If the DEC continues to allow it, i can't imagine the population not becoming decimated. What chance do you think there is we can get such selling to be illegal? And what steps can we take to get that done sooner than later? andre
  15. having grown up in texas where i caught 100s of channel cats, they always hadsome spots on them. The color on your cat, Chuck, is different from any channel i've caught, but again, those were from Tx. I'll be curious to hear with the DEC says, but their responses don't always convince me! dre
  16. hey chuck, is that a HUGE bullhead? dre
  17. Hi all, I only fish Lake O once or twice a year and i've only fished for staging salmon once about 8 years ago. My brother from Texas is in town and he has never caught a King, and I'd really like to get him one (or more ) i have a few questions: Given that there are likely to be many boats near the Genny, do you advise against running planer boards? If i don't run boards, i was thinking i would run 2 riggers, 2 dipsy rods, and tow lead core with J-plugs. Would you still run flasher flies behind a dipsy for staging salmon? What about a J-plug behind a dipsy? thanks for any advice! andre
  18. Hi all, a friend of mine purchased a quasi-great camp in the adirondaks and these 2 fish mounts came with it. He is considering selling them, but has no idea what they may be worth. Any input on what he might expect to get for them. I'm guessing they are 50-60 years old. The tarpon is about 50 pounds, and the baracuda about 20 pounds. thanks, andre
  19. way to go steve and dan! i'm getting the boat ready and should be on my way to sandy in about an hour!!! nice to see dan and his "point the fish at the camera" pic!!! dre
  20. Hi all, 2 questions for you: 1. i finally switched from mechanicals to fixed blades and my new muzzy trocars have completely tore up the 3 layered foam targets i have. What is the most durable target for practicing with broadheads (i like to practice a LOT)! 2. what is the best archery store near rochester or the hemlock-canandaigua area? thanks! andre
  21. that is a truly magnificent fish - congrats!!!!!
  22. thanks very much to all who replied - i really appreciate the input! andre
  23. Hi all, i just got my fish hawk x4 and have yet to take it out on Lake O. The temp chart that came with it states that the optimum temp for kings is 44 degrees. That seems a bit cold to me. 1. what temp do most of you shoot for with kings? 2. what temp do most of you shoot for with steelhead? thanks, dre
  24. good point - i'm in canadice (near hemlock) ny
