  1. Nice job yankee, by any chance did you get a temp reading? Just curious and thanks for the x rap tips. Jay
  2. I dont know about you guys but now that preseason bass fishing is an option on most of the finger lakes, try throwing a large jerk bait (HJ 10 or 12 in tennesee shad color), after ice out with a jerk jerk pause (10seconds) and repeat along weed beds and any shoreline structure. You might catch five or maybe fifteen in a day but they will all be monsters. I am after the bass but we have filled a livewell on several occasions with big perch. If you caught one or two in a certain area on the jerk bait and then went back with a traditional perch rig i bet you would slay them because they are usually a schooling fish of the same year class. Just an observation on keuka for what it is worth. Tight lines, Jay
  3. Sunday am was really slow right out front, saw maybe two hookups all morning. One was from a boat with two guys that came out and started throwing cleos. He had one on on his first cast and lost it at the boat. Was pretty funny to watch. A lot of boats and very few fish in close. Temps were anywhere from 66-70 degrees on top. Dont know where they were but they were not in close and not in the river. Tight lines, Jay
  4. Hi fellas, Got out of I bay yesterday and today, yesterday water in the bay was 40-41 degrees, today 36. Fished out front both days and did all browns. Tues did 6/9 and found water temps of 39-41. Today did 9/13, water temps 38-45. All fish on stick baits and several fish puking bait. Biggest fish was maybe 8 lbs. All fish silver and clean also. Both days fished between 12:30 and 4:00. Getting out tomorrow around three and fishing till dark. Will let you know how I do. Happy spring, Jay
  5. Nick, Man ohhhh man that is a pig of a steelhead. What the hell did that thing weigh? Still looking for something like that in the tribs. There have been some bruisers in this year and still got plenty of time if only the dang river would settle the hell down. Congrats on the fishes from last year, Jay
  6. Fellas, Im all for the live chat and second the list of viewers in the room. Cant get here soon enough if you ask me. Tight frozen lines, Jay
  7. Fellas, Sorry, I thought the whole idea behind the pen rearing was to give the fish time to imprint on that body of water so that they will return when the reach maturity and try to spawn. If it is just a case of increased survival rates of young fish then I was mistaken and would support it. If it was an imprinting issue then there would be better places with better access to spend taxpayer money. Also that they are migrtory fish and the boat guys have all year to catch them all over the lake. I guess I dont have a clear understanding of what the goal is of the pen rearing, thought i read it was an imprinting issue. Confused, Jay
  8. Fellas, As far as I can see, I dont know if any money or time should be spent on the oak untill the ruling on the salmon property comes out. As far as I am concerned there should be no public money put into a fishery that will be along as much private land and unaccessable water. Just my 2 cents. Tight lines all, Jay
