  1. lol frolic works and is a synonym. Are there any tackle stores that would carry jigs in the ounc to ounce and a half. How far is bass pro? thinking they might have some.
  2. All, Thanks so much for the responses. I definitly feel the pressure to perform. I will give reports while there if they have wifi. Looking forward to a fun week full of fish, friends and the other f word. Thats right Food. well ok the forth f word would be the perfect scenario. Jay
  3. Masters of the fingers, I will be spending next week on Cayuga and am wondering if the big pond trolling gear applies to the fingers. I have two mag wire dipsy rods and a ten color core, no riggers. Wondering what I should run behind these and any other pertinent info would be much appreciated. I will also be jigging when wheather permits. Thanks in advance, Jay
  4. Go to "tackle and techniques" header in main forum and start reading.
  5. DG, Water is low and no docks in as of Sunday the 25th. Jay
  6. Don't forget to throw a bait in the prop wash... this bait can sometimes be stupidly productive for some reason... Jay
  7. Rebs. Are they the uni-troll 5 or 10 and how much cable on each? Thanks
  8. I think you need to change your boat name. Ha. Just kidding, good luck when u get out. Will be out today also. Will post results. Jay
  9. Wow, that fish is pretty colored up for the 14th of Aug. Sounds like the lake is setting back up after all the warm water inside the past week. Is this true?
  10. I believe that he was speaking American Indian.
  11. FYI, ice is out at both launches... no such thing as too early... Jay
  12. Lol, have fun and be safe. Just a couple more boats for the combat zone show out there this coming weekend
  13. Man that didnt last long... 39 lbs 8 oz out of Olcott. Still an awesome fish, gonna need a 40+ to win it.
  14. Scoots, You sure can go down to webster and cast off the pier. Other spots to check out would be Charlotte and iriondeqoit peirs. Throwing stick baits spinners and spoons should produce. You could also throw floats with a jig tipped with spikes. Now is the time to start. Went out this past friday and caught 8 while trolling in less than 10' of water.
  15. Pay the 25 bucks and get them in the derby....Hey ya never know.. small price to pay for a CHANCE AT 20k
  16. That sure looks like a tiger to me. The verticle bands instead of spots is the only reason. Hybrids dont reproduce so no sustainable population.
  17. PESTICIDES IN WATER? Are we not trying to keep pesticides out of water. What are the long term effects on EVERYTHING. Something that is going to limit the spread of gobies, They are freeking everywhere, what is limiting them going to do? As with any pesticide there will be some that are not effected by it and will breed and the offspring will be immune. Then we just have the chemicals to consume. How about we do the best thing and research how to keep them from getting into the great lakes or any body of water that they are not native. Limit ballast water and all other means of transportation of invasives. Don't ask me how., im not a researcher. Adding chemicals to our water supply does not make any sense to me. JMO Jay
  18. I personally favor Fireline for peirs. I have donated way to many lures from my bail snapping shut and sending my lure hurdling towards the border. The nice things about the fireline is it cast a mile and you get the benifit of a higher lb test without the diameter increasing. 8 lb fireline is somewhere around 20lb test. If you do deciede on the fireline you will need to put some mono on the reel first to prvent the line from slipping. Fighting these fish with anything less than 15 can stress the fish to exhaustion if you plan on releasing it. That and you will need a heck of a lot of line for the runs that they take in the lake. Just my 2 cents Good luck Ehh, Jay
  19. Mike, From what I have heard, The rochester fish have been hard to find this week. We are still heading out tomorrow am without a solid game plan. I too am wondering where we should begin as far as depth. Anyone with info as to whats going on around the river or bay would be much appreciated. That means you Capt. Steve, Capt. Bruce, Capt. Mark of reel jerksand Capt Yankee troller. . Thanks, Jay
  20. Joe, As previously stated, there really is no secret tribs anymore. The problem is when people post reports of these tribs with #s and locations where they were fishing. Then within the next few days, usually the next day, there are guys up and down the creek and the place is hammered. The power of the internet is a blessing. You just need to be cautious when posting. When I post reports on these small tribs it goes something like, Fished a west/east trib, water conditions high/low/muddy/ice. What I was fishing and how, along with what others I talked to where doing. I feel this is plenty of information for any angler to make a game plan and go have some fun with a chance to catch a few fish. Any detailed info should be done through a pm and I would be willing to share that info if someone asked. Just my 2 cents. As far as your question goes, if you want to fish for salmon I would say the best week would be the 2nd week in oct for any trib in the area if you only had one week. For steelhead and browns Mid november isnt a bad time to fish, plus the numbers of anglers drop off quickly once the weather gets colder and hunting season begins. Good luck in your adventures. Tight lines, Jay
  21. How easy are the to install and take off. What is the max wieght of balls could they use and do they come with them. Thanks Jay
  22. Hey fellas, We are trolling around with out any speed guage and temp probe. Is there any way we can tell if we are going to fast or slow by the blowback angle on the down rigger cables. Also, what lures should we be running that would work at multiple speeds. I think we are trolling around 3mph but have no idea. Target speed is somewhere between 2.5-3.2 im guessing. Thanks for any help. Jay
