  1. Depth dictates what Bay Rat I will run also... If I'm in super skinny water, the smaller bill S3 .... 8 ft or better and reg bill goes out.
The depth the lure will run has a lot of factors.. Speed your trolling, line diameter, and how far back you run it.
I use 20# main with a 12# floro leader... My 20# may ride higher in the water column than say a 10 or 12 lb main line...
Experimenting will give you a really good idea and eventually you will have it down so you can have the bait exactly where you want it.

  2. LOL You must think I work for the state. You just don't get it. Keep believing the conspiracies, and when you find out what I said was right, keep denying it. I will let you know what dates the goose season will be after the meeting tomorrow.

No but Mike does......and he was involved....maybe not on tbe task Force , but he was involved.... And yes....i will believe what ex- task Force members say. They have the inside scoop on how the dates were chosen. How the 3rd week of Nov was in 9 out of the 10 season models but you guys went with choice ten... ( just an example) Guys are now saying they knew all this was going to happen 2 years ago....

Longspurs, I answer the questions appropriately every year and have never had a survey from NYS. I did do a survey a few years ago for USFG. Cut some wings off and sent them in...

And about Capt Rich's claim about fishing regs... He's 100% correct... A certain group of people got the ear of the DEC and have convinced them there is a need to change certain fishing regs. While I agree with some of the tributary regulations, the lake regulations will only add to to a certain species mortality rate... But that's for another thread.

  3. I have never been sent a survey either. I know 3 people who did. In the past, season dates in the Western zone have taken 5 or 6 hours for the task force to decide, WHEN THE TASK FORCE MADE THE DECISION. The Western zone encompasses a huge area with many different areas and types of hunting to consider, not to mention the changing weather patterns. Missdemeaner, just wondering what your ideal season dates would be considering a 60 day season, split 2 ways, or not split at all, and not extending past February 1st

I don't care about Oct/ Nov... Do whatever you want...

First 3 weeks of January... Of course what I think doesn't matter now since you fellas worked it out amongst yourselves.... For the next 5 years....

  4. Just caught wind of some season dates for the Western zone. I guess it's going to open up October 19th and run to November 9th. Late seasons going from November 29th to January 4th.
It's not going to be hard to shoot 2 mallards but most mallards move through the Western zone November 1st to November 30th is our biggest migration and now its closed what a bummer this state sucks . I look back at pics of past years and November is the best month when everyone is in the deer woods the mallards are all over. Thanksgiving no duck hunting ...... Wtf I'm pissed . They should ask people that go every day what dates are good for the areas. No ducks in November is so shocking to me.

  5. I have a pair of 1994 350 Chevy block Volvo penta inboard motors up for discussion.
The motors have approx 4700 hrs on them. I am the original owner of these motors. Oil changed religiously every 55-65 hours.
These motors have been babied their entire lives and have had any work done to them by Tom Barberra at East Fork Marine.
Reason I am selling is to upgrade to fuel injected more HP motors ... Pm me for further details... $1,000 per motor...obo

  6. Last day was surprisingly good. I've hunted this spot 4x this season and all I saw was redheads and stale mallards.
After the past two days cold and wind, I figured I try it again in hopes for some new targets to show up...
Wow was I surprised! Lesser Bills, Greater Bills, Redheads, Blacks, and Canadas... Great day with some good friends... After today, I'm good till next season... Now comes Upgrades to the MissD, working on some training with my Jackson and maybe making some new decoys for next year....be well guys!0111191531a.jpeg0111191531.jpeg0111191350b.jpeg0111191513.jpeg

  7. I tell you I read about tie a mono leader on my wires on this site. I use a small spro swivel with a nail knot to my mono.  20 ft of money also helps shock.
I've been doing the 50# leader for years. Makes working on divers very easy. Another benefit is when flea season rolls around, the fleas don't pile up ahead of your diver...and Like RD said, the mono acts like a shock absorber when a king pounds your rig....
