  1. Thanks H.D. we are very fortunate to have a great bunch of guys who work their tails off to get the Pens in and the crew of guys who come and feed them. Without those guys, the Genny Pen Project would not happen.

I can't thank Skip Shumway enough for all he has done for our program..

On a different note, I received word that all volunteers at all Pen sites have the full backing of the DEC. Pen projects are a state program and are deemed essential so they will continue even though some marinas may be closed. I was told to remind all volunteers the 6ft social distancing when at pens for feedings or work parties.

Matt and others keep up the great work.I grew up and reside next to the Genesee, the down side is it's 2 hours north or Rochester.Wish I lived closer, would like to help.Stay safe and healthy hope to see you at the classic!

  2. Tim... Check your PM....Matt

Well my brother and I started at 7am went to about 5pm. Always a fun time. Fishing was slow. Went from a south to a North wind.
Went one for three. One small brown. The exciting part of the day was my brother hooked up with a king and fought it for a good five minutes (25ft of water on a white bayrat) until the hook bent off.
Unfortunately it didn't land in the net but we needed the action at that point. I also hooked up with a nice fish on two color 100 feet straight back on a pink and blue spoon. That also got off.

I've been putting lots of time in the last week. From Braddocks to Hedges. Very slow.

I'm gonna sit on the sidelines for a while until better water sets up or I see everyone on the LOU holding up big browns. Plus my back is killing me. I think I'm getting old.

    Good luck out there.

    Tim

  3. Feeders Absolutley do work, however if we feed by hand, we can direct the food broadcasting to all parts of the pen. If there are smaller fish pushed off to one side of the pen, we can make sure they get the same amount of feed. . We have hand fed since the program started with minimal dead loss...so we have to be doing somthing right

    Autofeeders work great!!!

  4. I'm going to start out by saying Im not full time running charters and I am still working my land gig. So at this point in my life, running trips is not 100% of my livelihood..... But everyone's opinion matters on this subject
In regards to the no charter fishing "Ban" handed down by the State... I don't think any citation would hold up in court, however there is a social responsibility we have to our families, neighbors , and communities to do what we can to end this A.S.A.P.
I love fishing as much as everyone on this board. But I have chosen to follow my internal ethics and cease taking customers out until given the green light. I'm no big fan of the State Government , but it boils down to the safety of the community.
One good thing is school is not in session, so I can get my daughter out on the rig a few more times before the "working season" takes off.
    Be safe and healthy folks....

  5. Was there anything in your garage worth shooting someone over?
Article 35 of NYS penal law specifically states that a civilian has a duty to retreat ( unless you are in your home). As it pertains to Deadly Physical Force....a person can only use it to protect yourself, or a 3rd person, from imminent serious physical injury or death.
Guy from Hilton shot a kid breaking into cars... Right or wrong , the guy got found not guilty by a jury of his peers.... In this political climate would you put your freedom in the hands of some of these idiots? I've witnessed a lot of trials and there is no way I'm letting Johnny snowflake decide my living conditions for the next 25-life.
I'm in no way saying you were wrong and I'm not knocking you at all.. You did what you think you needed to do... I probably would have done somthing similar. And I'm a huge supporter of the second ammendment... But in the end people need to have the serious conversations with themselves about what could happen, is the juice worth the squeeze, am I prepared for the fallout if this goes bad....
There is a saying out there that I use all the time.... Your body will not go where your mind has not been.... I pray to God I never have to make the ultimate decision.

The Genesee Charter Boat Association/ Lake Ontario Charter Boat Association is putting on another spring tackle swap. The date will be. March 8th from 9am-2pm.

Normally this event is at Point Pleasant Fire house however this year it will be at a different location ... This year it will be at the Port of Rochester.

Come on out and find some deals. 100% of the proceeds go to the Genesee River Pen Rearing project....

  7. Completely unnecessary.. Very "Professional" of you... Of course I'm not surprised....

You have finally hit the nail on the head, this is the attitude of NYS Lake Ontario shoreline property owners, and especially boating fishermen and "professional" aquatic  Uber drivers, also known as charter captains!

  8. Sucked...... I have some very versatile spots for any wind direction, layout boat, huge huge number of decoys.
    Divers were totally non existent.
Warmer weather this year, cut off two weeks in January didn't do us any favors.
Early season I was plagued with a new job at work that needed 60-70 hrs a week...
I've always wanted to roll out to Utah to hunt cinnamon teal, colored up Shovelers Pintails and of course Cans... This may have been the season that lights a fire for planning... Nice job to all you guys willing to change gears and get after the ducks available.
I'm just a stubborn diver fiend!

Finished the season with a limit of mallards at the farm pond. Not a bad season . Now we know what we are in for the next 4years. Nice hunt royboys! Misdemeanor good job on the reds this year must have been tough for u ? I don't see a 10th of the divers as normal this year.
