  1. I am highly disappointed with quality of the big water ugly sticks I bought for Lake Ontario Salmon fishing. I spent over $1000 on a number of rods that I believed would be a superior product only to find that in normal use they could not hold up to the riggers of big salmon. Last August I decide to replace all of my yellow rigger rods with the 8" 3" ugly stick trolling rods since then 6 of them have broken. The retailer and wholesaler stood behind them for the first year but now are referring me to the manufacture who I have found out will not stand behind their product which claimed to have a 5 year warranty. Pretty sad for what was suppose to be a quality company. I suggest everyone stay away from this product.

  17. I am glad you guys so vividly remember these situations, since I do not. Believe me, the risk to my charter clients will alway be minimal in any situation on the lake. Conflicts between boats have always been an issue when they both want the same water and will continue to be an issue in the future. I have over 25,000 hours fishing on this lake for salmon in 30 years and have been pushed off of water by some of the best charter captains (old school guys who also believed they owned the lake) and from them have learned well how to hold my ground. Some times it will cost me fishing time and gear and some times it will not. I just want to mention how many times captains find a spot and every eager fishermen in a boat moves in to crowd them and hamper their ability to fish. So it does work both ways. Hell it just happen this weekend when a charter captain found fish and called 3 other charter boats to his spot (me being one of them) and the next thing we knew every boat in the vicinity was coming to crowd us. So bottom line we do our best for our clients and that is our job. As far as what people say behind my back, personally I could care less, it has very little impact on my business success, since I run plenty of charters , as many or more than most, so I must be doing something right. At this time in my life after all I have contributed to this fishery I feel comfortable in my situation and no one will impact that.
  18. Just reminder, for those fishermen in the Oak area over the next few weeks with the Pro/Am coming up. I still have my 31 Open for sale with the trailer, it will be available for viewing at Lake Breeze Marina. If you would like to see it stop by and take a look. Right now the cockpit is in the process of getting a new coat of gelcoat, along with some touch ups on the the hull. I have lowered the price to $30K. It is and has been a great fishing machine. It is in very good shape structurally and is in excellent shape mechanically. If you would like to contact me I can be reached at 585-733-5829.
  19. The temp in the muck water is 44-45, the greener water east of the 57 line is 43 and the black water is 39.
  20. The water is in a tail spin, very mucky water from the 57 line to the boarder out to over 300, when you cross the edge it drops off to 39 degrees black water with nothing in it. The best for the last 2 days has been the Lake trout bite from in front of Wilson to the 57 line anywhere from 60-80 FOW from 20 down to the Bottom.. Hot bait has been DW Wonder bread super glows in all sizes. Bob Steven (Sunrise II) and I fished these waters very hard and we did take a few kings and coho's but it was mostly a laker bite. We talked to many other fishermen who fished the same water with the same results. Hopefully the lake will settle down soon and the kings will settle in. Bob Songin Reel Excitement Charters
